Ours is a lot smarter than his grades claim. And he turns 18 right about on graduation day (also a junior). Except that ours is making a career out of doing the bare minimum. I think tonight I'm the one who managed to say all the wrong things. Because even bringing it up was the wrong thing.
Oh, I hear ya. He needs that bachelor's degree. He knows it - he just has been refusing to look at what's involved. I was walking him through alternatives like community college first, working and going to school part time, heck, I even brought up the GI bill. And I'm a vet - I would really, really prefer he not join the service (even though I actually think it might be extremely good for him.) I'm just hoping that this finally gets him to start figuring out what he wants to do after high school, rather than just continuing to close his eyes and live in the land of magical thinking.
