I'm strictly a MtL vaper. For an RDA, my *very* favorite is the Achilles; VERY tight draw. Also the Magma; it's a bit less tight than I like, but it's tolerable; using just one, of the smallest airholes, the draw is somewhat like a kayfun (lite plus) with the AF abiout halfway closed, so it's not bad.

For a tank... nuthin but kayfun. (lite plus!)

Thought I would throw some things out there to get some discussion started.

Here are RDA's I have tried that you can still find fairly easily, with a brief note on MTL usefulness. Please keep in mind that this is my opinion only. I do not speak for their suitability for other people:

TOBH: can be closed down to tighten the draw. My experience is that they tend to prefer coils under 0.7Ω. Atty gets hot fairly quickly. Not conducive to my vaping style which is warm, dense flavor. 22mm medium height
Magma: can be closed all the way down so you cannot hardly draw air through at all. I had to open this up all the way to get a good balance of air and flavor. Tends to leak if you tilt your mod to vape (as most do) and leak from condensation. 22mm medium height
Veritas: Nice, tight draw, air intake is designed to force air through the coils before it can be drawn out the drip tip. Deep well holds a lot of juice. Build options include vertical or horizontal coils, single or dual. It is a bit tricky to build on but the coils seem to last longer in it than the previous mentioned RDA's so you don't have to do it as often. I have seen people experience great success using a vast array of wicking options with it and enjoy their vape. I personally tend to do a single coil on it. Does its best 0.6Ω and lower. 22mm tall
Marquis: Considered a slightly improved Veritas. Much easier to build on, flavor slightly better, prefers 0.4Ω and lower. 22mm tall
REMatty: Tricky to build. Flavor and vapor is very good when you get it dialed in with your build. You can close it off completely where no air will get through. Flavor is not good for me in single coil mode. It excels with tobacco's which like heat. 22mm shorty
Derringer: This atty is super easy to build on. I have done everything from single to dual coils, 0.4Ω to 1.2Ω and received outstanding results. In use daily. Good flavor, good vapor. 22mm shorty
Stumpy: I was very surprised by this RDA. I was relatively certain I had found my final atty with the Derringer. The flavor from the Stumpy is outstanding, vapor about the same as the Derringer. Top airflow, capable of dual coils but does so well with a single coil I no longer build duals on it. This will also do extraordinarily well with temperature control. I just ordered 2 more. 22mm shorty
Le Magister: unique appearance. Inside the cap is several reducing chambers when really concentrate vapor and flavor. Top air flow that can be adjusted without removing the cap. I have it on the smallest hole, half-closed. It's a keeper on a daily mod. 22mm tall
Nectar Nano: This was my favorite atty until I got the Stumpy. The flavor and vapor are great out of this. I have only run this in single coil. The resevoir is great for such a little atty. 22mm
Freakshow Mini: This is similar in vape quality to the Nectar Nano, with slightly better flavor in dual coil mode. Likes builds below 0.6Ω. 22mm
RM2: ceramic deck is great for people who are new to coil building as it keeps the coil from shorting if too low. Build with the coil close to the deck for a warm vape, raise it just below the top of the posts for a bit more vapor and heat. Single coil. 14mm
Cyclone: Flavor is better than the RM2. Single coil. You can purchase an optional AFC cap which lets you allow for more air. Most MTL hitters prefer it without the optional AFC which can be closed down. 14mm
Hornet: single coil, tiny deck and designed for coils above 1.0Ω. Because this is so small, can produce a lot of heat if you chain vape. I have one with the air hole drilled out slightly and one standard. Prefer the enlarged air hole as it helps reduce the heat. 13mm
A7: by far the smallest RDA I have ever used. Tricky to get a build in there without shorting out. Gets hot quick, flavor is good. 12mm

Peng, that's awesome!
I would personally put the RM2, RM3, hornet & cyclone (non-ACF) all in the same category as far as features & flavor/vapor.
The FSM was a no-go for me because I couldn't close down the AFC enough (single coil airhole). Stumpy has the same issue, but I plug up the holes.
I totally agree about the Derringer/Stumpy. The D was it for me for a while, but the Stumpy surpasses for sure.
Tried the Veritas, but could never get the build right. Nice airflow, though. I WANT a Marquis real bad, but it's so dang big...
Omerta is another one for MTL, but what a b&*$% to build on! I still have a cheap top fed clone that I play with every now and then. Nice favor for sure.
Hobo V3 will close down, but what a terrible design! (I've got the clone, which is extra bad, but I can't imagine the authentic being much better)
I'm curious about the Hastur. I've watched reviews, but it's unclear if it's MTL friendly... if someone knows, please chime in. Looks decent for a cheap authentic.
And I'm looking forward to hearing about the Forge v2 & Buhawi.
Just put a different build in my Nectar (was 6 wraps 2mm Tiger wire, now 6 wraps 1.5mm triple twisted 32g nichrome) and it still wooshes like crazy. I even opened the outer airhole just slightly to try to get it quiet. I don't know why, but it is driving me nuts.:glare:

Thank you for starting this thread, Henry Etta. Being a MTLer too often leaves me feeling left out or confused about which RDA to try. At the moment I'm running the Chalice III, Nuppin (v1 and V2), and a Divo. The Chalices and Nuppins have me spoiled with their AFC and probably wouldn't even consider an RDA without it. I run the Chalices wide open and the Nuppins barely open.

The No Fear Again has been on my radar but I've yet to go in depth researching it. Hope someone here can elaborate.

I've been patiently awaiting Loki Labs 14mm RDA. They were due out in June but last word is they are still in the works. I think I'll post a link to this thread on their FB page as another gentle reminder. (Hi Craig :D)

For those who were looking for smaller (18mm) tanks I'd like to suggest the Big Buddha Mini. It's roughly the same size and shape as a Protank, single coil deck, two airholes with afc screws. Ive gone from .4ohm 24g coil, wide-bore tip and removed the afc screws, to a Protank-like 1.6ohm 28g coil, standard/thin tip, closed off afc. It'll provide lung hits and big clouds, or long slow tootle puffs. It's my main tank right now, with modded EVODs as backups.

I didn't know Loki Labs was putting out a 14mm atty. That's exciting! Any word if it'll have AFC & BF option?

No word on details yet other than 14mm. I did go post a link to this thread on their FB page. I've been gently pestering them for a while now. The most recent post on the subject was July 6th and stated: "Thats the Nix, 14mm. Its going to happen. Just no eta at this time"

This is what i have in it at the moment, doesn't get more simple :)
Excuse the mess, was in a hurry when i got it
qLqcinc.jpg

I'm not getting any whistling, only sometimes to my own fault some liquid gets into the channel so it's not as smooth sounding. But a blow into the airhole (heh heh) fixes that right up. So you'd say not worth going for the stumpy? What's your favorite flavor build on it?
Here's my tiger wire build on the Nectar:
download (8).jpg

I wouldn't say it's not worth it to get a Stumpy... I really like mine (I would post build pics, but it's off being cleaned right now after an unfortunate accident involving an unlocked fire button and the inside of a nylon bag :glare:)
It's definitely different than the Nectar. I prefer it with dual twisted coils, about .4-.5ohms is good for me. I get good flavor and dense vapor, and no leaking. I'm a fan for sure. But I wouldn't say it'll give you more flavor than the Nectar. Just different, and you might have to go a little lower in ohms. It's definitely excellent for flavor compared to most other side air 22mm attys.

I got the clone... I thought the Manta would be the ONE for me- no leaking, reduced chamber, dual or single coil, AFC, etc etc, but I could not get it dialed in. I tried so hard... got really good flavor, but no vapor. One might think that because I MTL, vapor doesn't matter, but density is nearly as important to me as flavor. I tried everything, but I could not get it to produce anything close to a dense vape. It seems weird, though, because almost everyone else loves it.
I had the same thoughts about the Manta. Thought, that looks like a large Chalice (in airflow function), so I bought 2 just knowing it would be the large atty I was looking for. But, like you, could not dial it in. Isn't it frustrating too when you see lots of others loving it.
I kept one thinking I'd come back to it one day for another try, or upon reading about the "secret" .

Great post! Le Magister looks interesting. Is yours converted to bf?
VapinArt is out of stock. Do you know of other US suppliers?

Right on! Glad you guys made it over!
I'm curious about the No Fear & Viper as well. The Viper looks like it's made well- awesome deck, but a little pricey for something with no AFC. I haven't seen much about it- looking for input on that one for sure. I know what size hole I like sometimes, but I do like to change it up a bit depending on build & my mood. My Chalice always stays wide open, but I adjust the Nuppin regularly. Just wondering if the Viper is that much better than a hornet or ERA (sure looks easier to build on...)
No Fear Again- is that pretty new? Just looked it up, and it looks great! How do you buy one? Only wish it was single and dual coil.
VapinArt has the No Fear Again in stock

My Le Magister is converted to BF. They are more expensive than most, so I am surprised they sold out so quickly.

MAGMA best MTL atty and Rip Trippers agrees....lolz

I will withhold making comment

My favorite MTL tanks are the GUS Phenomenon, either the Zest or the Lite, and the Merkava from Mini-ECIG which has super easy top-fill. Both have stunning flavour, controlable airflow and juice control. The Phenom has the added bonus of accessing the deck without draining the juice. Also the KFL+ v2 with a glass Plasma tank from Trippy Tips is a great vape which also has deck access without draining the tank.

ECF's very own Qorax has done a youtube review of the Phenomenon that's worth checking out.

I'm an MtL vaper mostly but do like restricted lung hit too. My favorite rda right now is the vertex v2. It's reduced chamber design gives it great flavor and it can be cut down to a good MtL flow in both single and dual coil mode. I don't know if it can be modded for bottom feed though. It's also a great tootle puffer rda. 1.2-1.7 ohm single coil is my preferred set up.

This is my Manta build. Dual 2mm dia. coils. 7 wrap, 26g kanthal. Comes out to about .41 ohms.
