Multitester? Vaat ees dees multitester?

I recently bought a multitester cuz I'm making mods and devined from reading these threads that I needed one. I studied art in school and worked in auto plants for 30 years. I've learned things in my life as the need arose and now I need to learn how to use this tool. One of the issues I'm having is that I'm totally unfamiliar with the language of electronics. I'm hoping someone can tell me how to check the continuity of a switch without power and the resistance of an atomizer or any other important function pertaining to mod making. I figured out how to check voltage but that's all I can do with this $30.00 tool. It's a Sperry DM-350A multitester. I'd be very grateful for any help that I could get from those of you who know. Set it to 200 ohms (Ω) and stick the red probe in the ohms socket. The black probe should be in the COM (common) socket for all configurations. If a switch is closed, it should read 0 ohms, or a very low number. You use this same configuration for measuring resistance of an atty.
