I love seeing more people join the fold here. Welcome Skold. Put a link up here to your music when you get it uploaded. I like all kinds and listen to a really wide variety. I will have finished stuff up very soon... I am taking an online seminar tomorrow morning on video production to try and get some more ideas. ya I am addicted to learning everything about this business LOL... I have one of my rc buddies bringing his quad copter out to film for a video soon. I am taking all my gear to a place in nature and doing the lip sync stuff to edit into a vid. I have a person filming with multiple cameras for more angles and fresh ideas from someone that is a photographer.

Been doing a fair bit of recording this week and I looked into some new toys. I decided I am doing it all myself now aside from I have a guitar player coming this weekend to lay some solos down... been working hard on my drumming... I have to admit, I know rudiments but keeping it tight for a whole song is a challenge. I did over 20 takes yesterday and see I bruised my thigh with the drumstick haha

I bought a printer today that prints to cd's. great deal. grabbed 50 printable cd's and 20 jewel cases with it, some heavy stock for doing the inserts... just installed the software now and updated the firmware. it's an Epson xp 630... much quieter than my hp laserjet (the lazer is just black for doing lyrics and such)... then after 2 days of research I got a killer deal on a standalone cd duplicator. has asus burners and does 7 cd's in under a minute all at once. I got extended warranties on everything so am good to start pumping my own out.

I also got 400 of these pouches from california. self sealing for cd's. poor man's shrink wrap. 18 cents a piece will keep them protected and look professional.

Last news... Feb 12th I am playing a market in the P.N.E (Pacific National Exhibition). It's a big thing here. Same group has Nat Bailey stadium and I applied to play dates at both. I sent my digital press kit in and was chatting with the mngr today and he booked me in for the PNE as he runs that one. Nat Bailey mngr is covering for him Feb 12th so I meet her in person. Busting my .... here man. I played last weekend outdoors and it turned out nice. spitted rain for about 15 minutes in my 4 hrs there. I did 8 of my 10 originals from this upcoming cd.

Any of you good folk play Steve Miller's/Boz Scaggs "Baby's Callin' Me Home"? Or can point a direction to any link with the appropriate chordings? Tried Google and YooHooTube, but finding nothing that's true to Miller's original. Been trying on my own too, but just can't seem to get the right feel/sound. Gonna keep trying tho. I always thought this was in standard tuning. Maybe not?

cheers. I love Skynyrd and I have to admit I didn't recognize the song so I had to go looking.

My drumming is getting better. I have to work hard. I guess if I recorded multiple takes and cut and pasted a performance together it would go faster but that's like programming drums... I just can't do it.

I changed webhosts this weekend and just waiting for the domain transfer to go through. New site looks awesome.
I also worked a deal with the guy that did the video for Pallet Shuffle. He is an RC guy and does tons of review videos, huge subscription base. He is going to film me with his quad copter for my release video. We are doing Fly, so I can cut back and forth from the copter and actual hawk footage... plus hover videos around lip sync stuff. we have about 4 cameras plus the quad so going to be some cool angles and be walking down nature paths playing. He has also agreed to use all my music in his videos, so once I register the music I will get performance royalties on plays, even as background music.

Here is my main bass for the last 10 years... all 3 are standard models but custom configured with a common aspect of 34" scale and 19mm string spacing. The Bee is all made from Acrylized woods except the swamp ash core. Top, Back, Neck are all dyed and Acrylized maple, board is Acrylized wenge with Acrylized silver vine block inlays.

What a magnificent beast that is! Bee basses was the first time I ever saw a single cut, now I have an Ibanez Bass Workshop Terra Firma six string which is their take on boutique, single cut style bass. :D I really wish they'd put out a seven sting version. I'm tuned so low that that extra high string would be nice.

Is your Terra Firma heavy? I had one and at over 12lbs I had to get rid of it. It looked and sounded great though.

My Fodera singlecut is right at 9lbs, but I rarely take that one out of the house.

yes you are right James. I just meant it reminds me of the ranges he plays... that's an all in one lol

I played down at the Vancouver Exhibition grounds today where the PNE is. I was busking at an outdoor market. Its chilly in the morning (still snow on the ground here). I used to play hockey in the agridome and I was right beside it. That's where the Vancouver Voodoo played roller hockey. The Forum was to my right, the original Canuck's building. All the vendors donated and I got a big box of goodies. The manager saw it and said hey you got a real haul... lol... my guitar case was doing good too. Can't wait to go back considering it was a small market and cold out. Tomorrow I am playing in Lonsdale Quay for Valentines... gigs are starting to happen already. I am booked next weekend too. I still haven't made it to Granville Island to busk, even though I purchased a license... I have to go this week if the weather holds out. Don't like wasting money

I was a bass player for many years. I played in a band that did King Crimson, Adrien Belew and such. It was sure fun stuff to play. I haven't popped and slapped since the early 80's though

Mr Clarke is all about the 4 string! Alembic electric and piccolo basses are his mainstay, but the man is a MONSTER on the Upright too.
He is a monster. Listen to his Animal Logic upright stuff from the early 90's. Just him on upright, Stewart Copeland of the Police on drums and a female singer. No guitar or keys. Amazing band.

Great pop band... I have most everything he's recorded since I had to learn"School Days" for high school jazz band and ran to the mall and picked up his latest release at the time on vinyl (Time Exposure - 1984)

That's all great stuff.

I was lucky enough to take lessons for a year or so with Anthony Wellington. I thought I was pretty good until I started playing with Anthony and started to understand how good guys like Wooten, Clarke and the other top players really are. Almost depressing.

I went to find Animal logic. I found a few versions with different musicians. Then I just let it auto play on youtube all night. loved it all. I played down at the lonsdale quay today. outside beside the boy scouts making pancakes. it was family day... the quay is where the seabus unloads. you wouldn't believe the crowd I had all day. I was looking over the ocean with boats running, sun in the face. after I got cold yesterday at the pne it was sure nice...

Just wanted to say hi. New member here, and professional musician. I'm a violist in a symphony orchestra here in Copenhagen Denmark :)
I've actually wondered if the art of building coils could translate into making strings. Would be a fun endeavour. :)

Ha! it just might... my Double Bass strings are hand wound in your city, maybe you could hang around there and see if any of the employees vape :D

Isn't there a type of coil that is a wire wrapped with a wire just like guitar or bass strings????
