Seriously, this is killing me. I've only been at this for about three months and I haven't even gotten into fancy mods, etc., but if I sat down and totalled up the amount I've spend on hardware and juice, I'd... Well, I just don't wanna know.

So lemme ask you longtime vapers, do you ever reach a point where you're "set" except for occasionally reordering your fave liquid, or all we all doomed to an endless cycle of chasing the next hardware/juice upgrade? And does anyone ever truly find an All-Day Vape?

I realize these questions are more or less unanswerable. I guess I just needed to vent.

I haven't really found my sweet spot 100% yet but my experimentation is way down at this point. You will begin to know what you like generally and that will narrow things down a hair, and yes, the spending will go down.

Well, unless you start wanting to get into fancy mods and all that. :p

I'm a builder and tinkerer by nature and profession. I'm deliberately staying away from mods because I know that'd be one hell of a slippery slope.

Damn, all I wanted was something to keep me from smoking, not another hobby...

Like ive mentioned before, make yourself a "Painsheet" as i call it.

Work up a spread sheet and track every penny you spend on vaping, then whip up all the formulas and make a readout box:

painsheet.jpg

Every day when you get up (after checking FT, lol) open up the sheet and stare at it.

It WILL slow you down...:p

when i was a new vaper, i was fooled into thinking, "once i get X, i will totally be all set. cant imagine needing anything after X". and rightfully speaking, i *didnt* need anything after X. but i *wanted* more stuff. new fancy mods, new fancy atomizers, new fancy juice, etc. the juice-buying i was able to grind to a halt after experiencing SO many unvapable juices. expecially seeing how i have found a juice vendor that i absolutely adore. i hate waste and noting is a bigger waste (to me) than 29.5ml left in a bottle that you KNOW you wont vape. unless of course the zombies come, and in which case i will gladly vape it up (i think). so, the doomsday prepper in me cant bring myself to throw away jucie, even if its gnarly as hell.

but the buying of the hardware...well, ive just come to accept that i will always want new mods and attys. but i do limit myself to what i actually USE. if ive got mods sitting there unused, it bothers me. im happy with however # of mods i have As Long As I Use Them. and i have found that if i have more than 5 mods, 1 will go unused. just not enough time in the day i guess. and attys, well i dont even consider it a waste to keep buying attys because the designs are constantly getting improved upon. same with mods to a lesser degree. but attys are really getting more and more refined.

If you don't want to go into $$$ overload the individual has to exercise restraint - that's all there is to it.

As far as liquids go, I have my favorites but I must be a pretty lame vaper - I'll vape almost anything. I stuck with my first two liquids for nine months before I branched out there. I really don't get the peeps who have been vaping for 6+ months and say they don't like 90% of all the liquids they have tried Really? What on earth are you buying??? I've only run across one place that had liquids so horrible that even I couldn't vape them.

Hardware? The batteries from my two original JoyeTech eGo kits are still working. Admittedly they didn't get much use after the nine month mark, but for those first nine months that was all I needed. That got me quit and kept me quit.

After that, a "really great deal!" on a Riva kit was a waste of money - one battery DOA and one battery didn't last 3 months. This was supposed to be my backup, not knowing how much longer the Joyetech batteries would last. Oh well...

I wish I had skipped right over the ePower. I got mine in the phase of the crappy switch modules that wouldn't work with anything below 2.2 ohms. I could try a third switch to see if they finally honestly really truly fixed that issue. But... no.

So toss out the Riva, regret the ePower and I landed on my first VV: A Varicool box mod from SmokTek. That was back when everyone was all gaga over Lavatubes. I wasn't feeling the love for yet another round tooby thing. Considering all the Lavatube problems that started showing up, exercising my right to be an individual paid off there. Two years later my Varicool box is still working. And there I stayed for a really, really long time. I still use those (Oops! I said "those" - yeah, I bought two of them.) as a favorite out and about device because of the form factor. I researched that one for a month before I made a purchase decision. Impulse buying e-cig stuff - bad idea. Expensive, bad idea.

The next six PV's after that? Totally unnecessary. But that one in red looked cool. I liked the size of this one - in powder blue no less. My Tesla is all shiny! And pretty! (To me anyway.) But did I need it? No. At least I'm still using the Tesla.

And the heartache and regret over my multiple tries to love cartos, carto tanks, Vivi Novas and probably at least another half dozen liquids devices I was told by everyone I would "love." In the greater scheme of things more technological annoyance than financial ruin.

If you have a setup and it's working for you, or you have something that isn't working for you and you didn't try your damnedest to beat that sucker into submission, whatever you decide to spend is entirely your own head trip. When in doubt ask Suzi Ormand if you can afford it.

I was reading a post last nite and this guy was saying how much he preferred the head he was using then. He had bought it early on but chased after the Newest and Greatest and came back to find that it was the best of the bunch.

Now, he wouldn't have known that initially w/o all the newer heads to compare it to, but it ended up just being that he'd simply took Time to get to know the product well.

Patience with the product and knowing where to draw the line as to when enough is enough.

I drew the line early on and I've probably just hit $500 just lately.

I'm a very happy vaper, and my equipment is the best in it's category, and trouble free all day, everyday. My family is very happy with all the bells and whistles that came with the nice new car we bought with the savings.

Probably going to have this as a new hobby and collect/use/purchase everything I can.
I am never satisfied with juices. Been trying different ones and can't wait to get some of the sample packs. Which will only lead to buying more big bottles, which will lead to more tanks to have them all accessible at once, which will lead to RDA's, and then from there, who knows?
I'm already into RBA's and mechanicals after having an iTaste MVP. Got a Vamo on the way. Definitely going to invest in a Provari.
Yeah, I'm addicted. But I still haven't spent as much as I would have smoking and I am feeling much healthier. :)

My doctor told me last visit that if I had not stopped smoking, we would not be having the conversation about e-cigs. I guess that justifies some additional expense. Saying that, I have always been guilty of jumping into a new interest with both feet. I have been through cigalikes, EGO's, vv/VW and mechanicals. Have tried originals and clones, Genny's and Oddy's, top coils and bottom feeds. Out of all this, I find myself using a REOS with the RM2 and an Adam with the AMR atty at home, and a Vision Spinner with Protank for out and about. When is something new coming out?

I love trying new stuff when it's fun stuff, like a new RDA or something (I loves me some RDAs lol). But I do not like buying new stuff because my all day vape set up leaks, cracks, doesn't wick etc.

I have used vivi novas for quite a while & tolerated certain issues with them because when they do work they provide a nice tasty vape. But I have just recently decided that I'm sick of putting up with wicking annoyances with these so now I'm back to trying out clearos again to see if there is another that will last longer without wicking issues AND not leak (no leaking is a big deal to me which was one main reason I stayed with the vivis so long. But now they leak so....)

HST I do find it annoying & would like to be done with it already. If I"m gonna spend money on fun vaping things I want them to be "fun" vaping things. I don't know that I'll be done with that any time soon cuz it's, welll, fun. :)

Hardware wise yes, I'm happy with my hardware completely so all I buy is replacement heads and the occasional replacement tank.

Liquid: NO... If you are anything like me you are screwed.

I think I may be more addicted to shopping for eliquid than I am addicted to vaping it.

I agree with this. Now I've discovered RY4 I keep looking through the roundup thread and keep bringing up the juice sites that carry the products. Then I end up trying four additional juices outside the RY4. In three months I'm at $205 in batteries and mods, and I'm comfortable with what I have for now (gonna get a REO this fall though). I have all the toppers and backup coils/heads and all that, have a good storage system and everything else I need.

It's the juice man, the juice.
