If you don't want to go into $$$ overload the individual has to exercise restraint - that's all there is to it.

As far as liquids go, I have my favorites but I must be a pretty lame vaper - I'll vape almost anything. I stuck with my first two liquids for nine months before I branched out there. I really don't get the peeps who have been vaping for 6+ months and say they don't like 90% of all the liquids they have tried Really? What on earth are you buying??? I've only run across one place that had liquids so horrible that even I couldn't

Well, I would say guilty as charged on this one. I'm new at this, but I would put up a wager on how much I have spent on liquids to some vets!! But this is due to the fact A) was chasing the tobacco taste B) got vapers tongue in my first week of vaping for 9 days so chased a taste I could taste and C.) Bought more juice, non flavored in case I got vapers tongue again, which I do.

So good thing I'm spending all my dough on liquid cuz I'd probably be spending it on PV's! This has become an expensive, crazy, roller coaster ride! And I haven't even hit the upside down twists yet...

Get a couple of GOOD mods, a GOOD charger, learn to DIY, find your preferred JDS (preferably rebuildable). You'll spend a lot up front but the savings mount up quickly.

In 8 months I've spent ~$1000 on everything and at 1 PPD of smokes I'm still in the black by about $400.

P.s. get verified and sell old unused stuff in the classies.

I think the thing about spending too much money on this hobby is that when switching over from buying cigarettes, our mind latches on to whatever addictive feelings it can. For me, I care nothing about buying multiple products because while I want a good vape, I was always a "buy a pack of cigarettes and smoke" guy. I never bothered over dissecting different cigars or pipe tobaccos; the personalities that liked that stuff will probably be the hot-rodders of vaping.

My advice is that when it comes down to it, if what your vaping is seriously lacking to the point it makes you want to go back to cigarettes, that's when you know you need better. However, when you're at a point your vape is much better than cigarettes, you should probably settle with your set-up until serious defects develop with your devices that require replacements; this will allow you to feel that you got your money's worth and will allow more time for better products to come out or extreme holiday sales to come around.

Also, do your research. Common knowledge is that plastic tanks melt and crack with most juices, and that plastic bottles melt too. Make sure your tank system is glass and make sure your company deals with glass bottles. Also, as small as Twist batteries now get, there's hardly a reason not to update to these or better right off the bat. On top of that, spend time with your device, try things, and so on. Oftentimes, little changes could make a big deal; you probably don't always have to rebuild everything.

Researching safety and overall easiest performance cuts about %95 of devices and juices from my list. Style cuts out the rest of the %4. In the end, I went with a Protank II, a clone Twist battery, and a juice from a truly trusted vendor, MOV, a company that is really revolutionary as far as safety standards go. I'll see how the whole thing goes!

I never even gave a thought to the money spent on cigarettes, just bought them. When I quit, I realized that, I was spending around $200 a month. So, that became my vape budget. When my husband quit, the budget got bumped up to $300.

In two plus years, I've only gone over once (2nd ProVari), but there were many weeks that we were under, so it has more than evened out.

As long as you can afford it, I say, enjoy yourself ;)

For me I have the mod. I like Genesis Style attys, so I have a Z-Atty U that comes in the 12th of Sep. I like Mt. Baker Vapor so I only experiment with them on my re-ordersmof juice. Keeps it fun! I have a lot of Kanthal, and enough SS mesh to last a while. I bought a 6 pack of syringes and needles from Tractor Supply, and I cut the tips down to a blunt point. So, I am close...

This thread makes me laugh and cry all at once! I love gadgets - shiny, sparkly things that run on batteries. If I had only known when I started this journey how many gadgets would be waiting for me, well... I agree with the sentiment that you need to find what works for you, but the problem is that there a so many choices! The bigger problem is that it's a lot easier to justify a $30 - 40 ecig gadget (I'm not smoking, so it's all good) than a $200+ tablet/phone/etc gadget. Good luck and let me know where it ends. In the meantime, I think I'm just going to buy an MVP and call it a day :)

You guys really need to try diy liquid. It's super cheap. There are simple e juice calculators that take out the guess work.
maybe someday after I figure out what I like (so far all I love are complex bakery and coffee and tea flavors) I may get into DIY once I find a simple flavor or two I think I maybe able to duplicate.. Until them I have no problem paying for the magicians that mix my favorite juice

One of the very first things I did was set up a logsheet so I could track my expenses, so I know when I need to reign it in. I'm only barely over my old smoke-budget. I easily have enough to make it through the next couple of months, so if I stop where I am, I should break even in October without getting too fidgety. It definitely helps that I found the hardware that consistently hits my happy button. SVD and a good carto tank? It's love, man. Love. I don't need anything else in my life

My problem with DIY is it's more stuff I need to store somewhere. You can start on one end of DIY... and end up on the other end - with a permanent Mr. Wizard lab room, the purchase of a dedicated chest freezer, and 452 bottles of flavorings, failed experiments and "it'll be better in another six months with steeping." Even if I could keep it under control my living space is just too maxxed out to invite it in. My freezer just isn't designed to fit the necessary bottles either. Even a 236 ml bottle won't fit in there upright.

I am loving my protanks....hope they are great on the SVD when I get it

I recently got a Protank II for a back-up after giving my wife my nice RBA. I "needed" something better than the Vivi Nova until a new RBA arrived. The Protank works really well, not like the RBA, but the next best vape I've tried.

Just yesterday, I did kind of a little inventory.
Batteries are good, more tanks than I can even keep in rotation, I'm stocked up on coils, and I figured my juice stock has me set for roughly 80 days.

...So today, I went online and ordered basically a whole danged startup DIY lab.
Beakers, pipettes, Nic & Flavor, syringes... Jeez. How'm I gonna hide that box??
