O.K., despite my joint date I'm still really a newbie. (Long story short, first tried vaping a while back, quit after being disappointed with what was available at the time, giving it another go.) So I know I'm in no position to be making demands. Just my two cents, but seeing the term "analogs" for cigs bothers me a little. My other big hobby besides consuming nicotine is listening to vinyl records, a.k.a. analog sound. So seeing that term used in a disparaging sense just rubs me the wrong way. :)

The term analog points to the fact that many of has evolved onto something better (analog phone versus digital for example) and not to be mean here but I doubt many people here were worried about it possibly offending a hobby practiced by a relatively small number of people.

Not calling cigarettes cigarettes, a name some of us have used for a half a century, serves to do a couple of things.

First, calling them analogs or stinkies reinforces the negative connotations that many of us trying to quit now associate with them. Many people that are trying to quit addictions do this and for some the psychological aspect of it is very helpful. Its all about retraining your brain to look at something from a different viewpoint.Believe it for some people just quitting just seeing the words cigarette can trigger an urge.

Second, it also implies that weve moved on to something better and more advanced. We call them stinkies because a lot of us are amazed at how badly we used to smell.I dont want to be one "those" ex smokers but I can definitely sympathize now as Ive had to leave the living room at my parents house to get some fresh air on a couple of occasions.

You cant be coming in here after a long absense, trying to change things just to suit yourself man, you know better than that :)

As long as you don't call them "falsies" there shouldn't be too much confusion in polite company :)

Fits in well with what one of the security guards at work said today in regards to my PV. He went on about "You do or you don't." With regards to cigarettes and compared my PV to bringing a blow up doll on your Honeymoon.

I agree...it's kinda lame in a way, because e-cigs are actually analogues of tobacco cigs. Should be the other way round. :) But what the hey.... When I see an e-cig composed of 1s and 0s then I'll think about it more.

The term "analog" irks me to no end. It's almost as bad as "buttery threads" and "nipple top battery".
Here I thought I was the only one!

We need better names for a lot of stuff, like:
e-cigarette, e-liquid, e-juice - seriously, I really HATE e-anything almost as much as I-anything (sorry pomaceous fruit lovers)
mod
smoke juice
tar oil (I kid you not!)
personal vaporizer is only tolerable at best. (too complicated IMO, though PV is acceptable, like TV instead of television)

I think I'll start calling my PV a vazer (short for vaporizer, *bonus* sounds cool, like laser). "Check out the new vazer I bought!"
Maybe call e-liquid vaze. "This vanilla-tobacco vaze tastes awesome!", or "I need some more vaze for my new vazer."

I'm a bit of a synesthete, so the word vape just "feels" abrupt and bitter, while vaze is much more relaxing and sweet tasting...
I can't believe I just shared that right now...

ETA: +1,000,000 on Pyros instead of analogs!!!!

I work in tech so I have never used the term. I just call them the same thing I have always called them.
