I am having an issue and hopefully someone here can help. I picked up a Magma rda clone by Infinite and it's just not kicking out the flavor like I expected. I've read nothing but rave reviews on this dripper so I assume it's my build and I'm looking for some advice and/or suggestions.

Current build is a 28 gauge kanthal single micro coil reading 1.4 ohms, peaches and cream cotton yarn wick, firing on a sigelei zmax V5. I have my KFL+ V2 clone running the same build (1.3 ohm single micro coil) and the flavor is almost double what I'm getting from the Magma. So, to get less flavor from a dripper than my RBA, I have to assume I did something wrong. Anyone else have this happen? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

This is not really surprising. RDA's in general need a lot more power to kick out a respectable amount of vapor and flavor, and 15 watts probably isn't enough. The Kayfun is going to do a lot better at 15 watts because its chamber is so much smaller, thus making it a lot more efficient. Your best bet may be to wrap dual 30 gauge microcoils and hit that 1.3-1.4 ohm mark, so the wire can get hotter faster. That is basically what the lack of wattage is not giving you on the Zmax with 28 gauge. Otherwise use a mechanical with good high-drain batteries and run lower resistance, pushing the wattage into the 20's or beyond. That is the type of setup the rave reviews are coming from.

Or, it is possible you just have a bad connection.

I think I'll try a dual coil build on it tonight and see if that makes the difference. I've just seen YouTube videos where people are running single coils on these and rave about the flavor. Although you have a point that most use mechs. Saving for a REO now, or I may get one for my birthday so mech is definitely on the horizon one way or another. Thanks for the reply.

Single coil
30 gauge
1.2-1.3ohms

Again, 28 will heat to slow on most Regulated mods - many are now using DNA mods - much more responsive.

I just received my Magma. Set it up for a Nemesis 18350 mod, but missed the mark on the single coil 28ga. @ 1.4ohms.
Flavor is much better on the 2nd hole. Vapor is still good enough for me.
Will probably re-coil tomorrow at 1.0-1.2 with 30ga. I'd still like to run it in 18350 form.

I've been using the first coil I wrapped when I got it 2 weeks ago and liking it a lot. Single coil 26 gauge. I think it was 9 wraps. Came out to 0.9 ohms. I vape it using the medium airhole. Changed out the cotton a few times but still the same coil. I'm not sure what's the lowest resistance the zmax will fire but try going as low as possible on your next build and it should be better.

Magmas seem to do best on a mech....

High voltage or low resistance.

I built my Magma at 1ohm with the idea of giving myself a wider power range to play with on a Dna30.

Well it worked fine with the power cranked, but when I put it on a mechanical it was anemic and not particular tasty.

I went back to single parallel coil at .6ohm. Works on a mechanical and works on a DNA, win win!
