Muted flavour from everything? Is it my cotton?

I'm not new to vaping, but I'm new to this problem I'm having.

I first noticed a lack of flavour when I got a Youde Goblin, I did a build with really minimal cotton, it handles 50 watts+ very easily and I love it, but recently every build I've tried has just lacked flavour, and then when I went back to my Lemo and Fogger they seem to lack flavour as well, I don't know if I'm going crazy or what. I'm even using a twisted vertical coil in the Lemo and a .45 tiger dual coil setup in the Goblin but nothing gives the same flavour hit like it used to.

The cotton I have at the minute is some sort of japanese style pads, but they're completely white so they're obviously bleached, but I'm sure they used to taste just fine, I bought a lot of it so is it cause it's getting old? I've been rebuilding for about a year but I've never had so much cotton at once that it's lasted this long so I can't tell if that's the case, or is it just the cotton itself?

I also had a few hits on my friend's Subtank mini the other day and thought the flavour was insane, am I going mad or am I missing something?

Some rba's do clouds better than flavor. Coil builds, air flow (or lack thereof) and resistance/power setting all will have an effect on flavor just as they will on vapor production.

Besides the Goblin, is there anything else you recently changed since you noticed the fall-off in flavor?

In my experience, a tighter airflow in a small chamber RBA and a higher resistance generally equal slightly less vapor but a big bump in flavor.

I'm no expert here... I haven't changed my device, atomizer, coil build style/resistance in over a year now. I've found what I like and just stuck with it so I'm sure there will be more experienced builders coming by soon enough.

Nah I've tried everything, all sorts of builds but nothing seems to help much. And as for airflow that doesn't seem to make much difference, I use the Goblin almost closed so I can just about lung hit and that doesn't seem to help.

The weird thing is it seems to persist in my drippers too, they're not quite as full-bodied as they used to be.

Yeah, sorry... I can't help ya there.

I see everyone raving about the Organic Japanese Cotton and how great it is, I thought it was good, better than the cheap cotton ball from the pharmacy.
I tried Rayon wicks and haven't looked back.
I'm gonna agree with Rsunderl and say you probably should get together with your friend and see what they are using and how.

Usually very close, I've always done it very close since I can remember, I remember reading it makes a difference to throat hit and sometimes vapour production when I started rebuilding so I always tended to make it very close, I haven't tried moving them away, but is the general consensus that close to the air holes is good for flavour or the opposite?
