So her first exploding battery wasn't even mentioned in her second exploding battery post and there are no pictures of either claim? I see no reason for someone to fabricate these stories but I see no reason for me to believe them either.
If I had a battery explode anywhere near me I'd have a picture up here in ten minutes. If it had happened before I would definitely throw that little tidbit in, too.

Myk and iffy.

Edited my post with the correct baddies. i had been reading on another board about wta juices and big tobacco, and was a little miffed about the possibilities of them trying to slip all the chemicals we are trying to avoid back into our juices.

I apologize for accidentally making myself look ignorant due to my mistyping, and have read a vast majority of the CASAA material, and plan on finishing the rest the next time i have a slow day at work.

I'm not going to copy all the previous posts.... I can't upload the pictures however if someone will be kind and let me email the picture to them and upload it for me, I would be super appreciative... My pc isn't working and I now only use my iPad... And I'm sorry I think I misused the term exploded p, more like thermal venting thing....

My 18650 that I mentioned in the past WAS user error... It was roaming free in my purse in 110-115 degree weather... I was at a concert in the desert and I had a spare battery flying loose in my purse... I THOUGHT I Learned from that, and now only keep it in a black lava tube case from volcano( that's the case it was in)..

The charger cord was exposed and I. Plugged it in, that's why that one popped on me.. I replaced that with a new charger, than purchased a better quality xtar before I received the provari mini

Yes, I have had 3 total battery/charger issues. But I'm not a new vaper and I do collect a lot of mods and do a lot of reading... Someone stated they think I'm lying. I'm sorry you think that because I came and asked about this because I'm truly stumped and so is the supplier I purchased it from, they are researching this as well.

So my apologies to the mis stated explosion vs thermal vent.. I truly still think it was the same thing because I did hear it explode and my purse got crazy hott.. And it wasn't the same purse that my 18650 was in.

Please pm me if you are willing to upload the pictures for me.

I do not think that you are lying at all. No matter if it actually "exploded" or it was a "meltdown, it had to be very scary and definitely worth mentioning. You did the right thing by reporting and sharing the info with us :)

I sent you my email and will gladly post your pics if you want to email them to me. I will wait a few minutes before logging off.

Yeah, that would freak me out. I don't know if it exploded, or vented or whatever you want to call it, but it would definitely freak me out. I want to thank Jacquelyn for posting about this, because it prompted me to buy a couple of battery boxes for safer transport in my purse. I'm already careful about the way I charge and store my batteries at home.

Jaquelyn, I'm curious about the origin of the batteries you buy. Are they advertised as AW or some other brand? AW started with a guy on one of the flashlight forums who got into the business of selling batteries. He would buy large lots of batteries from a manufacturer, run them all through intensive testing, choose the best batteries for his brand and sell of the rest of the lot wholesale. His are made using Japanese cells ... Panasonic, I think. If you buy AW branded batteries they are supposed to be the cream of the crop for a particular batch and perform to specs.

There are counterfeit AW batts on the market. It's hard to tell them apart and you have to rely on the vendor to ship what they advertise. What was the brand on yours and did they come from a vendor who states that they are genuine? Was there anything in the case that could have shorted the ends together? Was the car hot? Sitting in the sun for a long period?

This is really an unusual occurrence with IMR batteries.

I've had my run-in with counterfeit Aw's (read Volcano and the Lavatube), but the tip of the nipple is what gave those particular ones away, and the ones in the pic seem to be consistent with Aw's. I'm sure the OP used a reputable vendor to purchase the batteries from, especially after enduring the venting battery issue in the past.

I would like to know if the black charring was just from the foam in the Lavatube case melting to the battery when it vented, did any surrounding objects in the purse melt/burn/etc as well? I'd like to know the status of surrounding objects in the purse.

This is why I bought 5 plastic battery cases when I bought my ProVari's so I could safely transport spare batteries to work with me. I also throw out all batteries after 6 months of use, I cycle three in rotations that each get 1 charge a week, and use the same XTar WP2 as the OP and charge on the low setting to ensure a proper charge. They always meter at 4.19 coming off, and I check them religiously. Fortunately, nothing has happened to myself or friends as of yet, and I push the same precautionary measures on them that I use myself for this reason specifically.

Glad you're ok!

Thanks for the pics, (shelves scepticism)...
My Apollo lt has a feautre that the rest have, reverse polarity protection, if you put the batteries in upside down it is not supposed to fire.
It is implemented in a rather unique way. It simply starts firing away.
I never left it running for 10 secs to see if it shuts off. It was unnerving enough to see it firing without pressing the button.
Is that the button top of your battery? Could it have been upside down?
