I had been been wanting to try VV and loved the Wood Mods but Budget kept saying No! So decide to try and go around it & make one myself, as affordable as possible. Majority of the process was very enjoyable but it did have it's what the hell am I going to do now moments. I made the smaller one just because there was leftover wood and had an extra battery connector but I like the way it came out. Here is how it breaks down.
Wanted: VV So Got MadVapes VV Kit because It seemed the easiest to put together maybe next one I will use a switching regulator instead.
Wanted: Wood Got Red Oak because I liked the grain when stained with Early American.
Wanted: Long Battery Life Got 18650/3000 MaH because only a couple of dollars more than smaller batteries and really did not realize just how big these batteries are.
Wanted: Passthru type function Got DC Power Jack because already had 7.5VDC power supply.
Because of 2 above Installed 3 position on/off/on switch that cuts of both legs of battery when power supply is plugged in so no bleed to batteries.
Wanted Voltage display Got Green One from Non vaping Co. because every vaping site showing out of stock when trying to order, actually glad I like the green display better than the Red ones from everyone else. (Added benefit tried it on my ego battery and it displayed votage which according to madvapes the red ones don't so will be ordering another for a screw on type)
Wanted Wood Switches and Dial Got wood plugs and stained. One to fire and other to adjust voltage on the fly so no screw driver to carry.
Wanted Recessed Carts and tanks So final product came out to 6"x2"x2". If I change my mind later I can cut off about 2 inches from height.
It took a little getting used to after only using ego batteries The plan is to use it around the house and I love the way it vapes.
Wanted small wood with no LEDs Got small wood that is covered by my hand looks like I am coughing into my hand when using not much battery life but only plan to use it when In stealth mode
