Came home from lunch today and my 510 kit was sitting in my mailbox! Alright, so I didn't really ever fall in love with the 901 but I think a lot had to do with the local tobacco shop I bought it, along with my e-liquids from, & not realizing that my atty's had gone bad or that I needed to replace the batteries every so often. I'm trying to make sure I do all of the "housekeeping" things with the new 510 (and my eGo, which I found out about after I ordered my 510 and couldn't wait to order, so I just found out it was shipped out today and will be here Wednesday!) so that if I don't like it it's not because I'm using an e-liquid that's no good or my parts are no longer working the way they should.

Anyway, I stuck my battery on the charger after I got it so when I walked in the door an hour and a half ago it had more than completed the 8 hour charge I heard so many people recommend when it initially arrives. Let me just say, I've been vaping for nearly 2 hours now and it's much better than any time I ever vaped with my 901. More vapor, stronger TH's, the whole deal. My only problem is I still don't think I'm tasting my e-liquids the way I should/could be. I switched to Awesome Vapor for liquids a month or so before I gave up on my 901, and because I liked their customer service & knew they had 36mg juices, I ordered a big bottle of Hilton and a big bottle of RY4, along with the 2 sample 18mg bottles they send with every bottle you buy (I got 555 & cuban cigar). Like I said, though, I still didn't feel like I was tasting my liquid like I've heard others describe so I thought it might be because I have no idea what filler these pre-filled tips were filled with so I might not even be tasting my liquids yet. I read on here where somebody said that unless the pre-filled cartridges are filled with the flavor you're wanting, you can always take them out and replace them with around 1/3 of the cotton from an analog so I did that and filled it up. I've been vaping for around 15 minutes now and it's a big difference, but still not the step up I was hoping for.

Does anybody have any advice for me? I feel like I'm tasting a little too much "burnt taste" with each hit, maybe because the liquid's too strong, or maybe because the atty needs to be cleaned before using? I read that on here somewhere too but I can't find where I read it and wanted to know if anybody cleans their atty's (warm water maybe?) before using them for the first time. Also, does anybody have any recommendations on whether or not Awesome Vapor's liquids are as good as some of the other sites, or should I try placing an order from a more common liquid site around here, something like Tasty Vapor or cignot. Any advice would be much appreciated. I want to make sure I've got a decent grasp on my 510 before my eGo arrives, because I'm pumped about it coming and am afraid that if I only feel the same, barely above luke warm feeling I'm feeling about this one, that I'll just give up on the idea again. Really don't want to, as I think I'll enjoy this once I figure some things out, but to be honest it feels like it's getting super complicated and I'm already feeling like I'm spending more cash on this than I'd have spent on analogs in a month!

TIA guys, like I said, it's a big step up from the 901, just wondering what other people do to make sure they are experiencing the 510 at the best quality possible!

Wow...sorry for the long post. Probably not many people going to read all that so I'll just paraphrase. I just got my JOYE 510 in the mail and am wondering if anybody has any advice to make sure I'm vaping it at the best quality possible? Should I clean the atty's first? Is the cotton from the tip of an analog a good replacement to use so that I can vape only my e-liquid instead of waiting for the pre-filler to run dry and my e-liquid to take over?

Does anybody know anything about whether or not Awesome Vapor makes e-liquid on par with some of the other sites? I made the mistake of ordering from my last supplier before reading how important the e-liquid is to your experience.

1. Before you use an atty, blow on the side you attach the cart to. This will blow out all the nasty primer fluid. Then, drip a few drops on it and wait a few minutes, then vape away.

2. I'm not sure why you're saying you need different filler.. But no, I wouldn't use the filling in an analog filter. Simply remove the filler from your pre-filled carts, wash it out really well with water, dry, then apply new liquid.

3. For the best flavor possible (in my opinion), and least amount of liquid wasted, try dropping a few drops of liquid directly onto the atomizer. Apply an empty clean cart that has no filler, and vape away. The instant you get a sense of off flavor, apply a few more drops (2-3 drops), and vape once more.

Don't clean it - just..don't lol
Sometimes they need to be broken in abit - I'm assuming as you aren't a newbie as such that you blew out the primer from that atty first btw.
Personally I gave up on fillers for the carts - I jsut never got the full satisfaction taht I wanted from them (perhaps I wanted too much, thats always possible) but Ive found dripping is my nirvana of usage. I find it keeps the bridge nice n wet (which it likes) which in turn gives me good TH, flavor and vapor. It just doesn't last a long time - but then I found carts didn't last long either so..
First make SURE you have good contact between your atty bridge and the cart filling. Make sure the bridge IS wet because 510s hate to be even a little bit dry.
When a 510 gets a bit dry it starts tasting horrid.
Now - your juice. You say it was ok in the 901, it might very well taste different in the 510. The 901 vapes at a slightly cooler temp than the firey 510 and seems to suits the softer fruity type juices whereas the 510 likes the robust full flavored non fruit types.
I have no idea what kind of juice that supplier makes so Im not really qualified as it were to comment on their flavors - if its something YOU like thats good enough, but if its a bit on the fruuity side the 510 might not be best for it.
Good news is you can buy a battery adapter to screw your 901 atty into the 510 batts.
I use that method myself - for the fruity flavors (or the soft ones, anything not robust taht the 510s heat will undermine). Also means you can continue to use your 901 attys if you want to and not waste them :)

So first off - make sure the 510 isnt DRY (drip on the bridge if necessary to see the difference,, 3 drips should do it)

Thanks for the advice guys! I had no idea that you had to blow out the primer liquid first, that's what I'm about to do right now. I'm not really a newbie, per say, as I did use the 901 for a few months but I just found this site late last week and just started really digging into some of the threads around here this weekend, which is when I decided the eGo was something I wanted to look into. So, no, I'm not a newbie as in this is my first time vaping, but I might as well be because, after reading all of the pimp information I've found in here over the last few days, I absolutely had no idea what I was doing the first time around.

I'm about to wash out my fillers right now then. Didn't know you could do that either. Interesting both of you said to try putting liquid straight on the atty, I do have one question though. RR, you mentioned putting a few drops of liquid right on it after I've cleaned out my fillers, dried them off & put them back in the cart. After I get my first taste of flavor, I should add a few more drops on the atty and vape again. After I've vaped a few puffs again is that when I should fill the blank filler with liquid?

YOu can vape without any filler at all btw - just drip (yes yes Im going to make everyone drip! haha! :) ) and use the empty cart like a mouthpiece.
OR - if you really MUST use a filler :)-D) drip a couple drops on the atty then fill your filler (until it looks mooshy but not flooded so juice pools over the top of it, about 8-10 drops usually I think) and attach it.
Theres a good article by quasizmod in the ECF Library section about dripping if you're interested in just doing it that way. (lol ok I'll stop trying to make him drip lol)

Ah, I didn't realize that was what dripping was. I thought I was dripping by dripping e-liquid directly on the atty! Anyway, I'm pretty sure I just blew out this freaking atty. I've tried it several different ways now and am not getting one bit of vapor. It's not even getting the least bit hot! Frustrating!

Anybody know of a way to possibly fix an atty that's not heating up anymore? LOL. Guess I'm going to really be waiting for my eGo on Wednesday now!

Before I read any of the responses on here I typed in "cleaning a 510 atty" into google and somebody had a video up of them holding down the button on the battery, with the atty attached but nothing attached to the atty, until smoke came out. Smoke never came out of mine so I gave up. I never tried vaping again until after I had cleaned out my fillers so I'm assuming it was dead around the time I held down that button...

You should only need to add a couple drops when the vapor and flavor dies off. You'll also notice a taste change when it starts to dry out. To me, it tastes a bit like vinyl, but others say it tastes "burnt". Dripping really does give the best possible flavor and vapor, so I do it whenever I'm at home where it is convenient.

As for cartridge mods, there are a ton of options. For any mod, you'll always find some people swear by it, and others that swear at it. I guess it's all a matter of personal taste. Some popular cart mods:

Zero Filler mod
Pyramid Tea Bag
Coffee straw
Highping's simple mod
Blue Foam
Blue Foam Dart
SFY plug

There are plenty of variations and combinations of those as well. You'll just have to try them out and see what works best for you.

Check your battery. If that doesn't work, try switching out the attys and see if that helps. And I know you probably thought of this, but in case you're having a moment like I do occasionally, make sure the LED is coming on. I've occasionally picked up a battery that I thought was charged, only to find out that I picked it up out of the "needs to be charged" pile instead.

LOL. No problem with the atty....just a dead battery! I honestly didn't even think that was an option until I typed out what I did and realized it wasn't putting out any vapor before I thought I might have blown the atty.

Anyway, holy crap did I get some kind of flavor when i dripped straight onto the atty! If I didn't get a mouth full of e-liquid I think I'd do that with regularity! Gotta check that link out on how to e-drip the right way!

Wow, I'm thoroughly impressed right now. I couldn't handle all the liquid running straight into my mouth so I grabbed a second tip, cleaned it out, filled the filler with my 18mg 555 juice, dropped a few drops straight on the atty and vaped away. Not sure if I just don't like the RY4 (is that the one you were referring to as being fruity? I've never tried it before, just saw it was a familiar one around here and placed an order for a bottle) flavor or if the 36mg is too strong, but the one I'm vaping with 555 in it right now is far an away the best vape I've ever had. Strong TH's, excellent flavor, lots and lots of vape.

Cool. I've switched back to the RY4 now too and am enjoying it more than when it was dripping down my throat. I am going to look into that though because I'm sure I wasn't doing it right and I was getting some mad vapor & taste when I was doing it that way!

I was hoping to order a bottle of Halo by now but it looks like it might be awhile before they have any in stock. Can't wait to find my all day vape.
