I LOVE to tinker, but unless RBAs have somehow changed in the last year, I do not see myself trying another one.

Over a year ago I bought a Genesis clone RBA and spent 4 hours putting it together and making adjustments with no luck until I finally got fed up and threw the thing across the room.

I keep seeing people recommend this kayfun RBA. Do you still have to torch your SS mesh, roll it into a wick, then run kanthal wire from one post, coil it around the SS mesh wick, and then attach it to the other post? If so, I have no interest in them one bit, and I'm perfectly happy with the carto tanks and clearos I have in my collection. If there's something new about kayfun's build or design then I might actually be interested.

What makes Vaping great is the many ways it can be enjoyed! You can go cheap or expensive its your choice!

I look at Vaping as it was a journey. For this 30 year smoker it was an easier way to give up stinkys than I ever tried. I was successful with vaping. I have an arsenal to fight my cigarette addiction now. Bring it on!

Why would you want to limit someones options with your opinions. I don't mind that you have an opinion that's fine. Please try to have an open mind for tolerance of others.

I just picked up a Kanger Mega Tank today not particularly happy with it. I was lucky it wasn't too expensive.
Its OK though its still cheaper than a tank of gas or a carton of stinkys.

I hear you Finch, I too went down the RBA path a while back, and no matter how hard I tried I could never get a good set up on my RSST.

The Kayfun style RTAs are a much improved design in my opinion. They work in a similar way to a clearomizer in that the vacuum you produce by drawing feeds more liquid into the coil and wick assembly. They use a regular kathanl coil and can be wicked with regular silica or cotton - no mesh is needed.

If you can wrap a coil, you can build a good set up on an RTA. Flavor and vapor are almost as good as a regular dripper and they hold a decent amount of liquid and tend to almost never leak (unless you have an o ring issue or leave it in a hot vehicle or something)

I was somewhat late to the kayfun RTA system, buying my first one at the beginning of this year. While they are not my go to daily vape (that would be Reo) I do have 4 different styles and types that I use regularly and I'd have no hesitation in recommending them.

I agree and disagree at the same time.

After initially getting my Evod twist kit that I would have been totally happy if only I would have mail ordered my juice and not spent time in a Vape bar. Getting to know your local pro's and them letting you try a Kayfun or an RDA is a BAD move if you are pleased with what you have! Dont't do it! You only THOUGHT you were pleased with the pen style ecig. It's a case of not knowing any better times 10!

Bought my Evod kit to start, then tried a different set up and that led me into the Aerotank Mega (2) and a Vamo, then a Kayfun on a mech mod that led to two Kayfuns/mods(x6). Then traded two mods for another mod that came with a Patriot clone RDA and boy was that ever stupid. A week later and I am thinking of not only MORE RDA's, but a 26650 set up!

I just started this the first of May so this rabbit hole goes DEEP unless you are happy with what you have and the only way to THINK that is to never try anything else!

Needless to say that I AM a Vaper now and am hopelessly hooked on big flavor (clouds are fun too)!

Hope this helps.

I started with an evod set, bought a mechanical mod...Not really into rba's...I just like to lock and load. I am doing just fine with my Provari and Aspire Nautilus. I almost fell into mod collecting, but my initial mission was to kick the sticks. Three months so far smoke free! I have found my set up and I am currently narrowing down my juice selections. This forum and youtube saved me a lot of time and money.:toast:

I think my problem is I chain vape 12mg homemade juice and I lose the flavor so quickly I was always searching for a better hit, funny thing is now here it is 2 days later and my kayfun is just like the rest, I can't taste the flavor after a couple of hours and I am rotating between my 3 favorite flavors. I'm starting to lung hit now just to taste it but I am afraid that is going to overload my olfactory senses even more. On the bright side I haven't picked up an analog in 3 months and this is so much cheaper, maybe I should vape no flavor for 24 hours to see what happens. I have an MVP 2 so I am wondering if a bigger battery would help but this nautilus hits me like a roundhouse kick and the kayfun is more like a chuck norris roundhouse kick.

I agree a bit, I started with an iTaste V3 and the iClear 16s that came with it. Also a Protank 3. I mean it was fun, but at the same time I regretted not going to to RDAs and such first. I didn't spend a lot of money. Pretty much $100 and thats it. I couldn't justify spending $300-$400 for Mechanical mod, charger, RDA etc, for the stuff I'd need to get started. When I finally made the leap a few days ago. I'm glad I did. The guys at the shop helped me build a couple coils and helped me a lot with advice.

Then there is my father who I gave my iTaste to, That's too complicated for him. I set it for him and he'll never change it.

Northern NJ native , Coastal NC now.
depends.

I would not recommend a rebuildable/mod setup to my 70 year old mother. should would want set & forget, simple and undemanding.

I would totally recommend rebuildable/mod gear to my friend that's into fly-fishing and linux.

Agreed , there is a lot more older folks that have absolutely zero interest in rebuilding , i know quite a few so forget RDA's Kayfuns etc...

They want easy but something that provides a satisfying vape , i would probably recommend something like an Aerotank Mega , fill it and forget it with easy replacement head's.

One of them has money to burn so i would probably tell her to get a Provari since she wants reliable with minimal fuss.

I wish I had just bought the russian91 and the provari and been done with it. I've got too many evods - and that protankII I got with the provari is just junk.

Also would have just bought a gallon of VCV tobacco caramel instead of wasting my money on all the other juices that now sit in a drawer.

New here to the forums, vaping now along with my hubby for 3 months...It was actually my daughter who got us to quit the analogs and move to vaping. So as she is learning, I get her cast-offs at a fraction of the cost. Started with pen style e-cigs, then moved to a ProVari Mini with tanks and coils. I now vape on a V3Tronix and rebuild on a Chaos RDA. Hubby has a box mod and is quite happy with it, I do the rebuilding for him and he's quite happy with that. I love tinkering and learning, even at my age of 53, I was a complete noob with ohms and watts and volts, but My daughter showed me how to build the Chaos and there was no stopping me. it actually seems much cheaper than buying all those replacement coils.

I've been vaping for a while now, but I'm not sure rebuildable is for me, nor really necessary to get a good vapor experience. It's true I've moved up the mod ladder, but my current set up, which includes a Smok Zmax Telescope and Kangertech Mega seems to be working really well for me and is very easy to use/keep going.

I'm new too. I tried one of those cheap $10 e-cigs from a gas station that looks like a cigarette. It was better than I expected but buying carts were just as expensive as analogs. I bought a BluCigs starter kit and that lasted for a few months. I didn't like buying so many carts. It seemed like a waste so I found some youtube videos on refilling them. I did that for a bit and then found Johnson Creek Vea. I used them for about a year and quit analogs completely for about 9 months. Their quality has been going downhill ever since I started using them so I looked for other options. That's when I found this forum and all the choices out there for much cheaper than the Vea.

Fast forward to last week. I ordered a Vamo V5 and Aerotank from Fasttech. I saw some guys rebuilding the coils in the Kangers and that seemed much cheaper than buying coils all the time which is the issue I had with Vea's. Then after more research, I ordered a Kayfun 3.1 the next day after watching a few videos on rebuilding. Better than buying coils all the time with the Kanger. That's when I found out they shipped from China (I know, duh). I was running out of carts for my Vea and I found there's some local Vape shops so I went to one and bought an EHPro Kayfun Lite to use on my Vea batteries with 510 connectors. It cost more than from Fasttech but the guy at the shop helped me build the coil and wick as well as throw in 30ml of e-juice and 15% off my first purchase so it ended up being about the same as the Fasttech Kayfun but I had it NOW. It didn't do so well with the Vea battery so I found another shop I wanted to check out and bought an iTaste MVP v2.0. Definitely more expensive and no discounts but, again, I got it NOW. It's a much better experience with the Kayfun on the MVP over the Vea battery (eGo type). The best part is that I get consistent and much more vapor from this set up than I ever did with the Vea. I'm definitely hooked.

The MVP is a bit bulky so it'll be used mostly at home when the V5 comes. I really do like the Kayfun and even though I have another one coming, I'm thinking about getting a few more so I can load them with different e-juices and for backups so I don't HAVE to rebuild if one needs it. I haven't even opened the iClear tank that came with the MVP. The Kayfun is just amazing. Rebuilding is really easy if you're handy with tools. I've read and heard the coils can last a month or more and you only really need to replace the cotton every week or two. Something I was really curious about (maintenance). I don't mind doing it, just not daily or weekly. I already ordered Kanthal wire and organic cotton ($10 shipped for both) so I'm set for a few years.

Vaping and e-cigs all have a high initial cost but the on-going cost of rebuilding is way cheaper than Vea's and even tanks that you have to buy coils for (like Kanger). So now my only on-going cost is e-juice. That's what I really liked about Kayfuns.

Sorry to be so long winded and congrats if you made it this far down! :toast:

Vaped a couple weeks then got a Kayfun. I agree. Only thing is due the research and learn how to use it first. Flavor is off the chain and totally worth it. Didn't think anything would beat the aerotank Mega, but I was wrong. Watch it though. These things will chew through juice so fast it will make your head spin and flatten your wallet in an instant from buying e juice.
I thought I spent a lot on the provari and kayfun. I was wrong there as well. The big money goes to e juice, easily. Any setup is cheap as dirt compared to what e juice will end up costing. Especially the high end brands at $10 per 15ml which only lasts me 3 days tops in a kayfun.
