My advice...

With the help of a couple different Mods, and of course my favorite e-liquid company, VaporBomb, in less than 7 months I had worked myself down to 0 nic juice. After 26 long years of smoking 3 packs a day, I had finally beaten my nicotine addiction. I could finally call myself an ex-smoker. I fought with, and beat, cigarettes.

The switch for me was easy. My very last cigarette was the day my 510 arrived in the mail. I smoked my last cigarette while reading the directions of the 510. First inhale of the e-cig, not one more cigarette. And it was easy for me. No cheater smokes, no cravings, I just took to it like a duck to water. Guess I was one of the lucky ones.

I had been down to 0 nic for 2 months and all was good. Then my dad went to the hospital. He ended up having his fifth major heart attack and ended up in ICU. His heart was bad, his kidneys have been getting worse over the last couple months, but they were shutting down as well. And to top it off, his lungs were bad and filled with liquid. The doctors told me they could fight any one of the problems, but all three at once, heart, kidneys and lungs, just wasnt a good chance.

He stabilized somewhat, but was still in ICU. I got a call one night that he had taken a turn for the worse and I needed to get up there. I ended up flying my sister in from Florida and we went up to see him. Again, he stabilized and everything was looking good, so she ended up flying back home. She left Saturday morning. That was the same Saturday that I had a meet up in Atlanta. Well, of course I canceled out on the meet up and spent time with my dad in the hospital. That night, the ICU nurse pulled me to the side and told me "your dad wont make it, and will never leave the hospital".

I was mad, I was upset...and I needed nicotine! I ended up getting a cigarette from my wife and went down to the smoking area and smoked. Put one out and smoked another and another and another. My dad finally went to sleep and we left the hospital. I got me a pack of smokes on the way home. The next day, I ended up going to the store and buying another pack...3 times that day. My 3 pack a day habit came right back like I never quit. Harry at VaporBomb sent me some 18mg juice, but my addiction just laughed it. I still used the 18mg while inside the house and hospital, but once outside I was still smoking cigarettes. Now I had a 3 pack a day habit AND a vaping habit. Cigarettes still tasted like ....., but I couldnt put them down. I was still vaping because I love the flavor of the vapor.

Well after 22 days in the hospital, 10 of them in ICU, I seen my sister twice-she flew in once and drove up again last week. They finally released my dad and he is back home doing good. 5 heart attacks and 3 strokes, heart disease, COPD, countless stints and bypasses, I still have him around. I also still have a cigarette addiction.

I cant help but to think, if I just had some juice on hand that had nicotine, would I still be smoking today? I think not. So my advice to everyone: work yourself down to 0 nic, but ALWAYS keep some nicotine juice on-hand, just in case. You never know when you will need it.

I would write more now, but I need to go outside and smoke.....:(

M'lord Mutt..............I am soo sorry to hear all of this but extremely happy that your dad is back at home and doing better.....

As for your habit....well, you beat it once and you'll do it again; it really can't be harder than fighting zombies :) ....... Remember you rein the VB world and sometimes you just may have to dig really deep to toss those analogs but you'll do it.

You have given great advice on keeping the nic around. I for one will heed your word (although I still haven't given the nic up yet).

That's definitely good advice to consider. I was successfully vaping for about 2.5 months and then started going out to the pub with friends on Wednesday and Saturday nights. It doesn't take too many pints to really want an analog instead of the ecig. Eventually, I was using analogs all the time instead of the ecig whether I was at home, work, wherever. It was tough to get back onto my ecig 2nd time around. 1st time came with ease but the 2nd time is a little difficult for some reason. (I think the newness and surprise at how good ecigs are made it easy the first time for me.) I replaced and upgraded my stuff and that is helping some. Moving from a 510 to tank has worked out well for me.

So in all, it's tough to get in gear once analogs get back into the picture. I hope talking about it on the forums helps you. When I'm craving badly, I always talk to my wife about it. I know your wife smokes but maybe you have a vape buddy to call, ect.

Thanks for the advice on keeping some nic around. I hope one day that's something that I'll have think about.

Take a good look at what your Dad has gone through. Yes, you still have him which is a gift, but do you want to go through it also? I'm sure the answer is no. Toss the cigs and vape even harder. Cigs are only going to put you in his position. If you need higher nic to stop smoking, get it. Forget about 0mg nic right now, which congrats on that, but you need a little kick to help you get through this. I'm happy to hear your Dad is home now. YOU need to dump the cigs for yourself, your wife, your children, and your Dad. Your Dad wouldn't want you going through what he has to go through. Please keep us posted. Don't beat yourself up over the cigs but take a good look at what's happening. A big hug coming your way.

FSUSA.....PureCig,,,,extra flavor or 2x flavor,,,,30 or 36mg nicotine,
Honest,,,it's real cig down to the ash,
I also smoked for 45 years at 2 packs a day and while I loved e-cigs, there was still something missing,
This one worked for me. For the first time I was actually contented vaping, Wanting nothing more,,,just loving it,
No fancy flavors (although I love those too)...just 'give me a cigarette' kind of flavor and satisfaction,
It's cheap,,,,try just 5mg if you are unsure,
Word,
I feel your pain and honestly hope you will give this one a try, It works for me and I am and will always be a definite addict, A weak one too,

Mutt your in my thoughts, It's okay that you back slide, what you have done once you will do again. I know that I for some reason at one of my offices is where I get the urge to smoke. It's an urge that sometimes I can not over come. I lost my mom 7 years ago tomorrow after her 50th wedding anniversary. Then the next year I lost my Brother, then in 2009 my dad. I know if I would have been vaping then I surely would have gone back to smoking analogs.

One step at a time my brother one step

PS lets play poker that will take your mind off smoking
