On drippers I have been wrapping as close as I can. As for the time factor, ever since I started building my coils with anything thicker than 36g I got accustomed to hit the trigger for a moment before drawing and then I take two consecutive long draws. So it has to have a pretty long lag for me to notice. The thick wick did lag too long below 18 watts.

Wicks and coils are almost as hard to understand as "women".
Have made a bunch of new ones (wicks not women) in the last couple of weeks with the white ceramic wicks. The one working the best is an old ribbon coil on a DID that had a LC2000. Just pulled out the LC and dropped in a white after dry burning. 1.7 ohms at 14 watts and it is heaven. As with women no two alike and when you find what you like, savor and treasure it, they are long and far between.

Now have small white wicks in four drippers with hemp wrapped around the ends. The last on a IGO mini, 28g on a thin wick, like a micro coil but 9 wraps at 1.7 ohms, is working great. This small piece of ceramic actually becomes part of the coil when it heats up and produces vapor off the ceramic and not just the wire.

I melted an insert torching so now I just dry burn and scrub it under a faucet with a tooth brush. On the gennies i just put a small piece of 3mm hemp between the pos post and the ceramic wick and on the drips I use about 2 inches of 2mm hemp horizontal across the wick around the two ends and then stuffed in the bottom to pick up the juice.
Yes I am sold on the white ceramic wicks and the pros outweigh the cons. Main con is lag. I have been using the wicks now for a while and have actually gotten back into using a gennie sometimes. My favorite setup at present is the Igo-L or mini. My setups on both are a small piece of ceramic, 9/10 wrap 28g 1.6 ohms, 2 inches 2mm hemp wrapped around the ends and over the top as a flavor wick. The ends of the hemp go toward the back of the posts. I then fill back of the cap space with cotton to function as a tank. This is working great and gives me at least a half hour of constant chain vaping between refills. The cotton is a great reservoir, the hemp a great long lasting conduit of juice to the ceramic wick and the cotton has the added effect of reducing the cap volume for great TH. Yes I know, I just built a "carto", but better IMO..

I found that if I decrease the amount of wraps to bring ohms down so that I can get at least 3amps min. through the 28g wire, I dont have any lag with ceramic. Any reason not to go there?

Yes I found that also. I have been running 1.3 to 1.5 ohms ribbon on the gennies and that eliminated a lot of lag. On these drippers I have been using 1.5 to 1.6 ohms very close spaced 28g and the small piece of ceramic ends up heating up so much that it is part of the coil. Lots of vaper. At 12 to 15 watts I am over 3 amps. On the fat wick gennie I use one of my PTs at 18 watts with a 1.5 ohm ribbon. I have no issues with the lag at these setting. My comment on lag "con" was to those who do not use high amps.

I never remove mine. The gennies with glass tanks I steam clean and dry burn, the others I just dry burn and scrub under a faucet. When I only had two white wicks I broke one removing it and see no reason yet to take another one out and risk snapping it. In three months I have yet to pop a coil and I use high amps. I wrap very tight and my wicks are very snug in the wick holes. They work great and as long as they produce great vapor, I am not going to fiddle much with them. I now have 17 ceramic wicks setup in a wide variety of RBAs. I am very happy with them. About the only setup I have not had success with is on BCC, Ody or Penny but I still enjoy those with just hemp. Just ordered 2 of each of every model of dripper from Fastech to play with.
I have 2 did clones that I drilled out to 1/8" that I used to use a lot until I heard some bad things about the metal under the chrome plating that might not be too healthy. Have you heard anything like that?

It is brass under the chrome, I don't worry too much about it. I just don't let it turn green. Most RBAs have brass somewhere.
I am really liking these drippers converted to "cartos". Here is the IGO mini. The cotton filler has reduce the cap chamber to 1/3 the original size. Clean open space for the air from the bottom up with no restrictions or filtering. No cotton flavor as the cotton does not touch the coil or wick. Igo mini, white ceramic, 28g 1.5 ohms, 2mm hemp wick legs, cotton filler =

I think I'm going to have to try out some gdeal grinding skillz and make a U shaped wick for an RDA with some cotton. I mostly vape fruit juice and the hemp is a little rich for it.

Quig said when he boiled the hemp for over 2 hours it no longer gave off any flavor. He uses a lot of fruit flavors.

How would you build an atty with ceramic wick and tanked juice storage.....oh and doesn't leak?
I was kind of thinking about two pieces of hemp through 4 holes (u wicks) into the tank and then a bed of cotton for the ceramic wick.

By tanked, you mean gennie type? I am not getting leaking in my snug fit ceramic wicks and if one is a little loose I Quig tip a little cotton around the wick where it goes in the hole. For some reason on all my lab tests, all u wicks wicked slower than a straight wick. My fluid mechanics studies never got deep enough to know why, but there seems to be some physics laws working against each other.
Your example should work fine as the capacity of the hemp and cotton will be more than enough for the ceramic.

Yeah it could be a gennie type tank. I was thinking scratch built atty for use with a short ceramic wick.
Are you keeping the fill hole/other holes plugged? I have left them out as it seemed to keep the wick wetter, however doing so also keeps everything wetter if it doesn't stay upright
I'm just trying to work on efficiency with the ceramic, and was thinking that the short ceramic wicks seem to have less lag and need less power than long and thicker wicks.
