Thanks a ton for all the help BJ. I got it working but I think I made my wick and pin to low inside the cap, getting bad air flow and bad TH. How far into the cap should the pins and wick be?

acolyte... where is your air hole in relation to your coil - If you have the air stream coming in across the coil it usually gives the best performance. Also, by bad air flow that it's tight or is it loose(easy) to draw on?

Personnally, I like a longer tailpipe for a cooler draw - lowering the DT closer to the coil should give you a warmer TH I would think.

Be sure you think 12 times before you drill or cut!!!

Actually, it looks like you did a great job. I would find the low pins hard to manage with clumsey fingers, but that's the fun of DIY - you may find you like the more compact vapor chamber. Next one you can build based on what you did or didn't like.

Looking at wire and see square profile 18ga silver. Would this make a better connection as the corners would tend to offer "bite" for the kanthal to wrap around?

In theory yes and phone companies used square wire post for their wire wraps for years, but I have not tried it yet...

Someone just sold two of these atomizers in the classifieds (looks to be the ones from the Philippines with the copper electrodes that someone sells for ~$38) for $140!!! Holy cow!!! You have got to be kidding me. It takes ~$10 in supplies for each one and just a little bit of time. Plus I have rebuilt one of those that a forum member had issues with maintaining electrode connectivity, and it was not put together well at all. It had masking tape at the base of the clearomizer holding it into the shell, the electrodes where copper, and the 510 connection was easily wobbly & popped out real easy.

That was me and it didn't sell for $140.00.It was just a base price I put down and the guy that bought them knows exactly where the idea and what they are made from. They don't have the copper electrodes that was a picture of the one I had bought.Which I tore a part and re did.It also had tape in the bottom and I put a metal end cap on it over the 510 connection. You would be surprised of how little time it takes for people to make things and out of what and they sell it at a high price.Ive bought stuff like that myself then turn around and made it way cheaper.I had no idea what price to ask for them as I made them very nice,no crappy ends with tape but a solid nice looking working rebuild-able.Far as I know no one has had a gun pointed at their heads or their arms twisted to buy anything from the classifieds.I would and did take an offer that was given to me.Not near the $140.00.I had asked for help from some people on here to help me out when my hands was shaking too bad to make myself to make me one that I would have paid for.I had one person and yes from the Philippines do it for me.That's when the "You got to be kidding me" part should be in place. Now my shaking is under control and I can make them myself.I just made more then I needed so I listed them without breaking any ECF rules or regulations in the classifieds section, thanks.

Fair enough. Those pictures looked to be from the Philippines site, glad to know you improved it before passing it on, because the one I dealt with was terrible after dealing with rebuilding one personally. I just balked at the asking price, as I am so tired of seeing so much stuff @2x 3x the price of what people purchased for and knowing what it takes to build one of these. And yes you can ask what you want, no one is holding a gun to a head, but the biggest problem I have with it is some unsuspecting, ignorant, or desperate person will actually pay the price (and I guess in this case that didn't happen). As far as helping out... There is a reason I haven't built any for people here. I have received numerous PMs from people wanting me to build them (including you I believe). I have built one for someone directly on this forum, not one more, because once I checked into the rules, I found out quickly that I didn't want to deal with that. So I just build them for trades with my local vaping friends. Glad you aren't breaking any rules... but that isn't why I posted. I just couldn't believe the asking price.

Ive been one of those....unsuspecting, ignorant, or desperate person and I know the feeling all to well.I would never ever try to purposely take advantage of anyone.I just factored in the things it takes to build one.Not saying its a lot by any means, but also the time to make it.In my case I am disabled and I can't just hop up and down and make them lightning fast.I take my time and do my best to make it right.Something I would be proud to have bought/made to use.Yes I was one of the ones to PM you about making me one.I understand what you mean about why you won't anymore. When you make something by hand well other then what you bought I guess pride in what you made may play a part in the asking price as was in my case. The person that bought them even asked me if it was like the one from the Philippines.I answered him honestly and told him yes.So now if I ever sell the ones that I have left,I now know of a fair asking price that will be subject to OBO.Look at carto tanks people sell them like crazy at a crazy price. When most are just the same.Ive seen two I know of from two different vendors. One was for like 12 bucks and the other for like 24 bucks. For the exact same thing and they know they are ripping people off.I do apologize to you for seeming harsh.I guess I took it as a attack on me,no hard feelings Jolly.

Chopper, by all means, I understand taking the time to build it right. The first few I built took some time, especially experimenting and finding what worked for me and at my standards. Eventually, I got it to where I can build one pretty darn quick and sourcing build materials is easy for me (except buying the shells). Someone asked me what I thought it was worth, and I started thinking about how long it takes to build them, and then started figuring what the materials cost and what they really were... I make a lot more $$$ an hour with my job then I could with these :)

I was in no way trying to attack you personally, and I didn't take your reply as being harsh, completely on the contrary. You stood up for yourself, explained some things, and did it in a civil manner, and I respect that. I apologize if you felt it was offending, and is why I left your name out and didn't link to your listing. I guess my major point of my post was that the cost of supplies is so low, with a little time they are easily DIY, and then you know what goes into them as the builder and if it is done to your standards.

So now that you have had one in your hands and built (and rebuilt) a few, do you find it relatively easy to do???
