All subjective and where you live and how much kit you buy in the beginning.

Yes to start it normally costs more.

But I have spent £900 in 2 months on juice and ecigs. Now have over 2 years supply of hardware and juice.

I am actually and can see it in my bank account, saving £200 a month (that is $300) a month as a 30 a day analog ex smoker. (UK analogs are expensive, $8 a pack of 20)

In 5 months I will have paid for it all and still have 18 months worth of kit. The final 18 months is pure profit of $300 a month to me. == 18 x 300 = $5400 savings over 2 years.

Now I did pick a 901 DSE and have never changed.

I have over 25 attys, 10 batteries, 1500ml juice as well as Kensington power / passthroughs, syringes etc. All factored into the initial £900 outlay.

So it depends.

I think the thing with e-smoking is it can be less expensive once the initial investment in equipment is spent. Without any equipment failures June will cost me about $22.00

30 carts used @ about $12.50
one 30 mil bottle of 36mg liquid for $9.50, split three ways and cut with a VG/PG mix which adds about $0.90 to the liquid cost.

All purchased at Heaven-gifts.com Ruyandirect.com Best E-smoking Shop except the VG and PG.

If an atomizer or two goes then it will add $6 to $12 to the monthly cost for June. I would have spent a minimum of $200 on analogs. So at that rate I will recoup anywhere between $178 to $166 in June to apply to equipment purchases.

All of that only applies if I stop buying hardware.... which for the moment I have ;)

i've invested too much already in less then 14 days. I've spent $180 for the kit w/ a bunch of extra cartridges thrown in. Then another $40 a week later when I realized one cartridge does NOT equal a pack. I feel taken after spending $220 and now thru this forum the atomizer burns out and I'll most likely have to buy replacement this and that. WTF that salesman basically lied and omitted all the extra cost. I don't see how it'll ever break even. I feel taken:(

is this thread about what you can spend or what you have to spend.. ??

there is quite significant difference between the two..

in the UK i would say you have to spend.. say £15 quid a week.. but then again if you were daft enough (or rich enough) you could spend ten times that... are we bragging about how much money we have to waste or how tight fisted we are.. he he

again in the UK... with fags at around £6 quid for twenty a thirty a day man would spend around £63 quid a week.. without a doubt e smoking can be way way cheaper then that..

but again we are back to what you can spend or what you have to spend.... i used to smoke roll ups.. that worked out at around £20 quid a week..

e smoking based on what you have to spend still comes in cheaper.. but my specialty is being tight fisted.. he he

but whatever.. without knowing whether all these costs are based on what you have to spend or what you want or can spend its all meaningless..

trog

ps... what you have to spend.. one new starter kit every two weeks some chinese liquid and some carts.. lets say at the most £20 quid per week.. i wont hazard a guess at what you could spend..

Same here, but I got the stupid Smoking Everywhere stuff at a mall. I must have $200 in it so far since May 11th. But, I'm saving $6.00 per day. (for a while I was rolling my own though)
So, I've allready saved $78.00 not buying smokes. In another 20 (or so) days I'll have broken even.

Looks like I'll be using 30ml of juice per month and I'm going to make (already made one) my own e-cig (the Mag) which should work much better than the SE unit.
Bottom line is I will be saving about $150 per month not smoking!!! Not to mention my health improvements!!
AND I got a cool new hobby :D

I do want to reiterate that my expenses were real expenses based off my buying patterns.

IN the end, vaping can be significantly less. BUT, just like with any other gadget, people *will* try things until they are satisfied. Their curiosity will get the better of them on the "next best thing" so I do think the first year of vaping will easily cost people more money than analogs.

BUT, you must take other items into account...with vaping:

1. You can vape in any restroom without offending others. This gives you a little more freedom at work and probably will save you an hour/day.

2. You can vape in your house. Again, this will save you anywhere from 1 to 2 hours every day for not having to go outside and smoke. (The majority of people don't smoke in their house.)

3. Once you find the device that satisfies you, and you don't come to ECF to read the latest and greatest invention :), you will see significant savings. A 30mL bottle of TW can easily last 2 - 4 weeks. That means your costs *can* come down to $60.00/month + replacements. So, figure $120/month and I think you'd be set.

In the end, vaping has the health and time benefits over smoking. But we should all be reasonable and understand that any new gadget carries increased costs and I don't think we should rely on the argument that "vaping saves you money". We all know it's a long term investment and the short run costs do surpass that of analogs.

But there is one more thing to consider: How much taxes have you paid on your digitals?

I bet you paid $0.00 in taxes on your vaporizers...and you paid around $1.20/pack in taxes on your analogs (of course, this is why the FDA is getting involved and are "concerned over your health"). It's not necessarily *your* health they're concerned with...it's your *country's* health.

Yup. Only way to save $$$ is to quit ECF. seriously.
More you know, more you'd want to buy. This place is like impulse-shopping booster. LOL! How many e-cigs one really need? For ones like me, who just want to get on vapin', it's just 1 primary with plenty of parts (I finally decided to stick to just SD), and a back-up. (901 manual PT from PS).

All I have to do now is to brainwash myself that there's no better e-cig than mine. By sticking to your decision at least for 1 year, I think I'll begin to see the real savings.

this place in theory should save the newbie money and tell them what to buy.. in reality it does exactly the opposite and turns every reader into an "enthusiast"...

once you become one of those you are doomed.. its cant wait to spend your money on the next latest and greatest.. he he he

You people are paying way too much.. Here is my list, all money US dollars:

SD- 155.00
Janty Dura-70.00
5 901 passthru's direct- 50.00
50 901 stainless atomizers direct-130.00
2 901 passthru's from puresmoker-40.00
10 retail purchased 901 atomizers-100.00
1200ml 36mg liquid direct-150.00
1 quart of food grade VG-20.00
Various juices bought from retail outlets-100.00

Grand total of $815.00. Now I have enough hardware and juice, the 36mg can be cut to 18mg thus bringing total of ejuice up to 2400ml, which is 80 30ml bottles, to last me 2 years solid, if not more. Look at my sig, I've already made a profit switching to Ecigs, and it has only been 5 months. I dont need a thing for 2 years. Now look at the savings over the next 2 years.. Immense.

Oh yeh, I may spend another 50 or so on cr123 batts and charger, that will cover it and then some. ;)

P.S. The total I would have spent on cigarettes would be MUCH higher, they have gone up 2x since I quit.. They are double what they were when I made the sig thingy..

Yes, my dollars didn't take the tax hikes into consideration from April 1, 2009. Since I "re-quit" on that date. So, you bring up a very good point. My financials do not show the tax increase from 2009.

So, if I was to smoke analogs today...they are running $55.00/carton on the Indian Reservation. With two people smoking a pack a day in my house, that's 730 packs, or 73 cartons/year. That equates to $4015.00/year or $334.58/month.

So, in 2009:

Analogs: $334.58/month
E-Cigs: $288.10/month

I believe you are completely correct in your assessment that the 2009 tax hike needs to be considered. I will add this to my original post.

My wife (who pays the bills), figured out my Grand Total, and said, "you spent less than I thought". We compared the price of analogs, and I'm still a bit behind.

BUT!!!

If I quit buying today, I still have about a years supply.

PLUS!!

I feel better, don't cough all night, don't stink, etc.

Well worth it!!

Yeh I forgot to add the benefits into my equation. The no more smokers cough, has to be top on the list. When I tell people I "quit" smoking, they always say same thing, "you didnt quit anything, your getting the nicotine right now". To which I reply, I QUIT smoking, this is vaping, I QUIT paying outrageous prices and taxes, I QUIT consuming about 3900 chemicals a day. I quit smelling up the house, I quit yellowing my teeth. It goes on and on and on, it's heaven and hell.... I always win the argument. :thumb:
