congrats and welcome. you just got sucked into a new hobby lol. are you talking about the clearomizers tasting wonky? i never had a good experience with those. they're always hit and miss and you need a primarily PG liquid for it to wick properly or a diluted VG liquid.

Did anybody tell you that you have to "tip the clearomizer" once in a while to keep from getting "dry hits"?
Even with the long wicks, I find I need to tip once in a while.
Just tip it on the side so the liquid covers the wicks. Keep it that way a few seconds. vape.

My PV lives above the F9-F12 keys on my laptop-unless it's traveling in my pocket.So it spends a lot of time sideways- I have found that if I fill it too full. it floods and will not vape till I pour a few drops out and suck out the gurgle.

Yes the ejuice in the clearomizer tastes wonky smells wonky too. I got rid of the smell by soaking the plastic overnight in coffee. but 2 of my juices still smell. I'm steeping them now and will closet them in a bit. But they have been here a week or 2 already. maybe it's my nose.

That's why I started out with something basic, like peppermint. Since it's a basic flavor, I knew it would be hard to go wrong. Though I have found some vendors who can't get it right. Perhaps it's the flavors themselves, or the vendors? What are they and where did you get them?

Yes, what she said. All the steeping and magic in the world won't change a bad juice to a good juice. Trust me. I've tried. I learned the hard way that steeping Camel Vomit only gets you Steeped Camel Vomit.

Just as a suggestion, If your not too far from Woodstock GA I would take a drive to Vaperite , they have some pretty decent juices, and a juice bar where you can sit and try out a few juices to see what is maybe more to your liking. Ive found some excellent juices there and you can try a sample before you buy. Excellent customer service and friendly people.

I think I've got the right equipment for me (for now). Just need to find the right juice-I think that my DIY will be fantastic but then I know what I like and can adjust the taste with the diy. As for back up equipment the 650 ego will become the 510's replacement when I have the $$ to spend-probably a vv.

The dirty little secret is that you'll need to steep the juices you make, too. When I mix a juice I like immediately, I tend to find I like it less after it sits a while. Juices I don't like at first tend to be better in the long run. One of those hateful little realities.

I've tasted well over 50 flavours at this point from 7 or 8 different juice makers. You might just not like that specific vendor for the juice you have. For example, I at first liked the mountain dew knock-off from one of my B&Ms but after having it in one of my clearomizers I hated it, and then tried a mountain dew from the other B&M near me and it was completely different.

You may just not have found the right vendor for you.

You are on the right track.
Be sure that the clearomizers that you buying are made of polypropylene.
The older version polycarbonate clearomizers made my juice taste like plastic.
This has changed recently so there is still a lot of the older stock on the market.
I'm just guessing because describing what you are experiencing as "wonky" doesn't
give me much to go on.
If you are getting dry,harsh,or burned hits that's usually an indication that your juice is not
reaching the heating coil, or at least not reaching to coil fast enough. You are vaporizing the
juice faster than it is "wicking" to the coil. Juices with a high %VG can cause wicking problems.

So my daughter shows up and says try this-handed me a pack of Blu's. Tried it -ok a good way to quit smoking. Did some research here on the EFC and went to the local B&M to buy 2-510's with a pcc-got to have the pack to hold... After 3 weeks of smoking & vaping I ordered an 650 ego with clearomizer. Much better but it all tastes wrong. So now I have DIY stuff on it's way. I see lots of experimenting in the future Since I read the EFC I figured I'd better drop in and say Hi I'm new here Anyone have an idea why the juice all tastes wonky to me? I do not think it's tastebuds as I'm not 100% off analogs yet. I could be wrong-first time for everything right?

Salen-from china and I did expect it .Has a burned plastic smell
Kona Creme from US 80/20 Has a chemical smell
The organic menthol Is fine (local) but I don't like it.
I'm steeping them and they smelled better this am

Thanks I have a ce4+ and a ce5 rebuildable. It was the rebuildable that tastes/smells bad and I know it is made of polypropylene.
I'm hoping the steeping will help. If not I'll convince Hubby to try vaping and let him try them. For some reason he smells things that I do not smell and I smell things he does not- so maybe he will like them. I'm beginning to think it is the PG I'm smelling.

The DIY I ordered should be here today then I can control the taste/ smell/ nic content. I'm going to try 100% VG as I liked the organic I tried, just not the taste for me. The plastic on the top of the center area picked up the chemical smell/taste from on of the bad juices-I soaked it overnight in coffee and the smell is better but not 100% gone. Not sure how to get rid of it(the smell embedded in the soft rubber cover). I was hoping someone might have a suggestion.

New clearomizers often have a primer on the wick (properly called sizing on fibers) that can taste just nasty. Depending on the maker of the wick - or when its made etc, the primer can be quite heavy and hard to get rid of. If you find your new toys still have a bad taste - soak the heads in alcohol, or my fave - denture cleaner tablets, for a few hours. Rinse in hot water. That will get rid of all the icky primer taste.

If I have encountered the primer problem I also get rid of the juice that was in the tank with the head - it never tastes right to me if I try to save it. I just clean the heads and start with fresh new juice.

Denture cleaning tablets clean up the silicon caps too and get rid of the smell too.

Too far from me, but Awesome Vapor is only 30 mins away and they have a juice bar too, as well as give a sample with every bigger bottle you buy. I do like their Cappacino. But it is hard for me to get down there.
