I went to see my doctor today for some routine stuff. I mentioned vaping as a possibility about a year ago and he didn´t have a very positive opinion of it. I didn´t mention it today when I went but the truth is:

- I haven´t had even one cig in 24 days.
- I smoked for 40 years smoking 2 and half packs a day the last years.
- I have been vaping about 4ml of juice at 18mg nic a day.

He might not be impressed but I am. I am not even sure if I have quite, I just haven´t had a cig a day at a time for 24 days

PS I have calculated the money I have saved in the last 24 days and the the startup money I spent on vaping and I am now at 0

Congratulations Dan!

I hate to be paranoid, but I haven't told my Doc that I vape...just that I quit smoking. With the new national health database, I don't want the insurance companies to potentially get access and penalize me for nicotine use. He's happy with what he sees and I'm happy with how I feel.

Congratulations! I threw some PHP code into my vapin' page to keep track of how much I would've spent, and how many cigarettes I haven't smoked. 24 back pats and congratulations again!

As far as the "non-smoker" versus "ex-smoker" thing: There are valid medical reasons why you are listed in your medical record as an ex-smoker with a quit date. The medical implications of years or decades of smoking follow you for a very long time. It needs to me known if you were a smoker, how much, and for how long should a smoking related medical symptom appear after you quit.

Don't try to buffalo your medical professionals by declaring you are a non-smoker. If you were smoking for years/decades and then quit, from a medical diagnosis & treatment point of view you never were a non-smoker. It matters.

The truth is I haven´t told very many people because I don´t believe it will last but each day I decide that today I not going to smoke and I don´t. The longest I every went was 10 days about 30 years ago cold turkey. It was horrible and I never wanted to go through that again.

I good, open-minded and committed attitude is a gift. I am now at 1.5mg and have stayed here by choice. But, my signature says it all.

    Good for you!!!

I didn't mention my switch to vaping to my doctor, until I hit the two year mark (getting close to 5 years now). I let his testing show the results of my switch to vaping. When my doctor commented on how much my health had improved, it was only then that I mentioned that I had switched to vaping. It was hard for him to say anything negative after that.
