A little about me, im 41 live in the DFW area but grew up in SoCal. Ive been smoking 1pad sence 1987. Ive tried to quit a few times once with big pharm, that was not a great experance at all.
im a cronic asthmatic diagnoised at age 3. I finlly found a DR that is willing to do what it takes to help me feel my best, one that understands quiting is not easy. I now go 2x a month for Xolair shots. Starting smoking is most likly the worst thing i could have ever done to myself and those around me and the guilt i have knowing im the reason mywife smokes too.
With luck, some hard work and will power I will succeed.

Today im counting hours, tomorrow i prey im counting days.

now for the upside it was GAS day, the new gear
2 ego 900ma batts
1 ego 400ma batt
1 ego ev2 vv
2 evods
2 protanks
2 iclear 16
6 bottles of juice.

spent way to much money about a months cigs for the wife and I, were in it to quit together.

thanks to all whom took the time to read and reply

Welcome from a fellow noob and thanks for sharing.

I've been analog free for 48 hours now vaping exclusively and if I can do it, well, you know the rest.

I'll be in Joshua, TX, your neck of the woods the beginning of September visiting my parents. I can hardly wait to get some delicious Bar-b-que. Seriously, I'd move there just for the food! If there is a vape shop around there, let me know about it, ok?

Welcome aboard.

Hey, I did 2.5 to 3 PAD for 30+ years. Now, well my siggy tells the story. Yes it seems a lot of money now but, look at the yearly cost and what you save in the long run - you really thing you are going to need 10 grand or more to vape over the next 3-4 years? Nah, not even close but, I'd bet you would have spent that much on cigarettes in that time.

Well, for myself, it didn't take much in the way of "will power". And I was a heavy smoker who nobody thought would quit. Especially not me. I'd given up trying to quit. Every attempt was miserable and I always went back.

This stuff was weirdly... easy. I mean, in comparison. Some bumps and snags and oddball side effects (like super realistic, disturbing dreams for a while... very odd) but compared to my "quit" attempts? Nothing like those.

There is a settling in and adjustment period. It can sometimes be frustrating. But this forum is invaluable. 90% of everything I know came from folks here. The other 10% was me screwing up and learning, "Don't do that". :)

...spent way to much money...

Well, good news there? While there's an up front cost, once you get going, you can save a lot. My vaping expense is tiny compared to what I spent on smoking. I just spent about $45 (counting shipping) on what may be my nicotine supply for the rest of 2013. I'll need flavorings for that and odds and ends but I figured it up and I should have enough plain nic juice for six to nine months. And I figured my "per ml" cost should drop to the point where I'll average $25 a month? Less than 10% what I spent smoking?

Remember, a lot of the upfront cost is hardware. Stuff that's going to last a while. Unlike cigarettes. Which you burn on purpose. :) Like the eGo batteries are rated around 300 charge "cycles". A once a day charge, that's around a year? It'll depend on your usage of course but it's not like you'll be buying a new "kit" every week or even every month.

Unless you want to. Some folks do turn vaping into a full blown hobby and love new widgets and toys. And, hey, better hobby than smoking eh? And if it works for 'em and they're having fun, why not? But that's optional. Money is bad tight for me now and I have to vape "on the cheap".

And it's possible. I'm doing it. Right now. :)

Just take it easy and enjoy...

I broke down and grabbed a swisher the other day, but I don't feel guilty. I know that I am a vapor now. I was smoking mini cigars by the pack and I am very happy with vaping. Cigs taste nasty to me so that won't be the issue. I still want to find the cigar killer and I am sure I will. I don't crave them like I did when I was using nic replacement or Chantix.
