With a respiratory infection & pink eye to boot, I couldn't get in to see my GP until tomorrow. So I went to the local walk-in clinic.(reputable, associated with the local hospital group). The doctor I saw must have been fresh out of med school, maybe half my age. In conversation about medical history, I told him I had quit smoking 3 years ago, been using e-cigs since. Expecting a positive response like I have with other medical professionals, I was taken aback - he felt that is just as bad a choice as smoking. I'm sitting there thinking "I could have been smoking these last three years" - NOT. I just figured that a younger doctor would be more open to alternatives to smoking.
It's bad enough with the negative publicity about e-cigs, internet scams and mass-marketed sub standard products but the average smoker that wants to find a way out has to deal with doctors that parrot the FDA. Enough time has passed since the introduction of e-cigs and millions have used them, how hard is it for the FDA, AMA & ACS to stop lying to the public?
"steps off soapbox"
