Okay, I have officially made my first batch of juice, which turned out surprisingly well. Bloggish, but here's what I did -

Mixed up 300ml of 9mg 80/20 unflavored juice - One Stop DIY shop gifted me a big dropper and a couple of pipettes which was appreciated.

60ml 36 48mg PG
180ml 0 mg PG
60ml 0mg VG

mixed, then drew some out into a 5ml bottle. Thanks to CVS for giving me a 10ml oral syringe :)

Added 2% Flavour Art RY4 extract, dripped and found it a little too weak Added another drop of RY4, which perked things right up so I stuck 1ml in a CE2 carto and vaped that - tasted pretty good but wicked a little slow so I added 20ml vodka to the batch, which thinned it out a bit. I probably could have used another 15-20ml vodka and I can squirt the stuff into a CE2 fairly easily, but it's still a bit thicker than a straight PG juice.

Passed it on to the spousal unit, who approved but said it tasted a little too much like a cigar. Added 2% caramel, dripped, then did the CE2 thing but caramel was a little weak. Decided to draw up a new batch and add a little vanilla.

The vanilla was a Really Bad Idea. Tasted a lot like burnt butter so I pitched that batch, upped the caramel to 4%, dripped, passed it on to the spousal unit and then loaded up an EMDCC.

The spousal unit approved of the mix and *disapproved* of me tweaking it any more, so I shot 9ml of Flavour Art RY4 and 12ml of LoriAnn caramel into the 300ml unflavored batch, mixed and bottled it.

Taste is good, vapor production is good, and the thing is head and shoulders above the DK-TAB I was vaping earlier today.

At the end of the day after testing and pitching about three 5ml batches I ended up with 300ml of a pretty nice 9mg juice. It's a tiny bit thicker than what I was using before, but it wicks pretty well and ain't a bad vape at all for a first effort.

I'm rather pleased with my first mad scientist effort ;)

edit: Fixed brain cramp in recipe above.

That's why I love the ejuice me up little software appy, once I get my juice where I like it, it's saved in a database for future reference. Problem is I'm always changing my recipes to maybe improve something which can be a disaster at times. Have fun with DIY, what's best is you make the liquid exactly the way you want it, and it's ready to vape without having to steep for weeks, unless you want it to steep...

LO black walnut tastes just like PA RY4.
LO BW is much stronger thus much cheaper.
LO caramel is not that good.

Thanks for the tips - you're right about the LO caramel, but I'm still fairly pleased with a first effort. The spousal unit is happy enough that I don't think she'd holler too much if I did it agian :)

I just got two of my three orders of base mixtures in and will be mixing Monday.

I still don't get the mixing ratios yet, isn't it:

    60ml 36mg pg + 60ml 0mg vg= 120ml 18mg? Then another 120ml 0mg pg= 240ml of 9mg?

I can't get where the other 60 for the 180 comes in, lol. I'm lucky I don't have to add flavors or I'd be really lost!

Well when you get to doing various concoctions I'd download the ejuicemeup calculator. Maybe she would holler more if she knew you always refer to her as your "Spousal Unit". LOL Reminds me of some Star Trek episode, can't remember which one, something about Veega....??

She knows - she's known for years :)

My mistake - the PG was 60ml of 48mg, not 36. I have no idea why I *said* 36mg - I think my fingers got ahead of my brain typing the post. I was pretty excited with the results :)

    1 part 48mg PG
    3 parts 0 mg PG
    1 part 0 mg VG

    48 ÷ 5 = 9.6mg

Vodka and flavorings added another ~10% volume, so the end result was probably just a hair over 8.6mg.

Thanks for the correction, Wiz. Didn't mean to mess with your thread, I'm just trying to figure out the mixing thing w/ a lot of distractions and stress in my life- I'll probably be fine once I start tommorrow.

Again, congrats on your succesful mixing and may you have many more.

    Thanks :)

No worries - I'm glad you caught it. I'd rather correct myself than put out bad information :)

    cheers -

    Wiz,
glad you are able to vape a mg/ml concentration that low. That's good.
I've been able to get down to 12mg/ml, but that's it so far.

I started at 24 and cut to 18 about a month ago. My juice and batteries don't last quite as long for the first few days after I drop nic levels but it seems to level out :)
