Well here is my first attempt at a mod. It was originally a 6 volt 2 10440 battery mod that I toned down to a single battery for a simple 3.7V mod. Unfortunately the epoxy set with the 501 connector a bit crooked but still worked nicely. I also got a bit carried away with sealing it off from e-liquids with Silicone but with the extra cushion the 10440 is a nice snug fit. Vapes very well. :vapor:

Congratz on your first mod and welcome to the modding community! It starts with one mod then ends with your significant other cutting up your debit cards :( lol

lookin good siam!

Thanks for the kind words and support. I am already planning my next mod with a nice Aluminum tube that just fits one 18650. I plan to use an EGO style top with button and protection circuit. Here is a photo of the mock up.

You bet, you will find everyone around is here is very polite.

That will be a sharp looking mod. be sure to post that one as well. Looks like a good fit for an 18650. I saw a cool looking commercial square mod called "The Cube" they are pretty cool. There is also the "Mantis" I think it is called. Someone will correct me if I am wrong.

The threat of a ban keeps most in line :)

Some point to consider with your metal mod (just in case you haven't thought of them)
1) In case of a battery failure, which end will pop if something goes wrong.
2) Insulate the inside in case the cell ends up with a cut in the wrapper.
3) Research battery types, and protection devices for over current, over discharge.
4) Nice case, maybe a vent hole or two (or three?)

Have a great time with modding, it's addictive, but be safe.

Yes, you definitely want your vents aimed away from the face. When these cells go off, they spit out lots of flame and super heated electrolyte. They spew gasses at a pretty high rate so you want decent size vent holes. A couple pin holes would not cut it. Though, you should never have to encounter a flaming battery if you observe a few precautions. Of course, there's still a very remote chance it can happen even under the best of conditions. Cells can actually fail catastrophically due to manufacturing defects. It's rare, but for that situation, you need to have things like liberal vents aimed away from your face.

Looking good. Yep PLEASE...vent holes. Love to see it when it's all finished.

I am thinking of putting a series of holes in the bottom to create a bottom vent and also think the bottom would blowout first in any case. I am going to use an IMR 18650 LiMN battery for increased safety as well. Here is a drawing of my bottom plate design concept.
