First off, thanks to everyone on this forum. After searching for good, unbiased e-cig reviews and information I (thankfully) stumbled across ECF. I've spent the last few days lurking and gathering as much information as I can.

Today I decided that my research had progressed to the point where I could make an informed decision on my first e-cig purchase.

About me - 37 years old and I've been smoking for the last 12 years - yeah... I know. Who starts smoking when they're 25? So far I'm the only person that I know of. I've smoked somewhere between a half-pack and a full-pack of Camel lights or Marlboro mediums for most of my smoking habit. I recently moved back to Washington state and have seen the cost of cigarettes skyrocket so I went with an 'Indian brand' - King Mountain lights - made by the Yakima tribe. They were $38 per carton which is pretty reasonable. Last Monday, however, they jumped up to $48 per carton.

My dad, a 2-pack-a-day Camel filter smoker for 50 years, recently purchased a Greensmoke e-cig kit after many failed attempts at quitting. He loves it. His wife loves it. He has an 'analog' (still getting used to the e-cig jargon) maybe once or twice a week. I figured if he can cut way back on 'analogs' using an e-cig then sure I can. That began my search for more information on e-cigarettes and ultimately I ended up here.

I'm a cheapskate so I always do a ton of research before purchasing anything. And I'm smart enough to realize that the 'cheapest' isn't always the best bargain. So I set out to find a highly regarded e-cigarette that was inexpensive. After hearing my dad complain about the batteries on the Greensmoke that became an important criteria for me. Also, I am a big puffer so I need that throat hit sensation. Replacement juice and other component costs are important as well. I'm on a computer all the time so the USB passthrough option is very intriguing as well.

So, armed with some basic knowledge and some basic requirements based on my habits & needs I pulled the trigger this afternoon.

I ended up going with CigEasy.com's 902 EASY MAX MANUAL STARTER KIT for $55.90 shipped.

Additional posts to this thread are forthcoming... hopefully I can get off the analogs for good.

Best of luck, good selection. You'll find as you progress that you'll have less and less taste for tobacco flavors. Fruit, bakery and soft drink flavors that don't sound too good now will start to grow on you.

I'm a big Dr Pepper fan so I imagine I'll be picking up some of those after giving the Camel cartomizer and Marlboro liquid a try. Although I kind of wish I had gone with the 555 to start with after doing more reading on flavors.

Good choice! Wife and I kicked the analogs completely using this setup. Few tips I can offer you: Read / YouTube up on how to fill the cartomizers, always, always, make sure you have plenty of juice, and when you order more get almost 2x as much as you think you will need. I usually throw in 2-5 cartomizers when i order in case some of mine get weak. Then you can toss the old and grab a new one. Get a little tackle box to label and put your carts in. keep them filled. Oh ya last thing!, get the PCC (personal charging case) this helps keep your bats charged and fresh and it is the width of a cig pack but skinnier. Also helped me feel complete?? (I kinda missed that pack of analogs in my pocket)

Smoketip is not a bad 808 set up. They use really small 180 mAh batteries. The only problem is that the small batteries are only good for a couple of hours.

I have a couple of their batteries and carry them often, but with a PCC. Battery size doesn't matter much if you use the PCC all the time, and the little batteries are very handy.

I also did a tonne of research before ordering, & went with a KR808D-1 as well (except I bought mine at vapor4life).

I must say, I'm really happy with my choice, I like the simplicity of just unscrewing & screwing on another carto when one is empty, or when changing flavours. I do love some of the juices that can be bought elsewhere, & have filled lots of blank carts. It's so easy to do, & only takes a few seconds using the 'condom' method.

This model is also a winner when showing a bunch of other smokers who are interested. So easy to switch over to a flavour they'd like to try out.

Lovin my VK! :D

25? I started smoking at 32. Got me much longer breaks on the painting crew I was a part of and helped improve relations with the chain smoking boss. After loads of research I went with an 808 as well from Health Cabin. Got a pair of 280mAh with it and have a 380mAh now as well. Great batteries plus you can easily use 901 atomizers with them as well which I am dripping into right now. Love it. 808 is a great choice.

My kit arrived charged up the day after Easter. As a result, the last cigarette I had was Easter.

Keep it up.

I'm pretty sure that the CigEasy 902/808's have the 280mAh batteries. I can't seem to find any info on CigEasy's website to back that up though. I thought I read it somewhere on the site.

Being in the great Northwet being able to vape indoors will an excellent added benefit for those rainy, windy, miserable days.

I must say, I couldn't have picked a better time of year to start vaping. Heading into Winter, & I'm sitting in front of my puter, nice & toasty with the heater on, vaping Cafe Macchiato on my passthrough om nom nom:vapor:

Kit came in this morning and I really think this is going to work for me.

Good vapor, good throat hit, and the taste is great - even better than regular cigarettes.

CigEasy included a 'banana chocolate delight' cartomizer and I love it!

The USB passthrough is just awesome. I'm an IT guy so I'm at a computer most of the day. Not having to worry about battery life is going to be a huge plus.

Many thanks to Frank at CigEasy. My ordered shipped Monday and arrived Wednesday and so far the kit is everything I hoped it would be.

And, once again, thanks to all of you here at ECF. This is a great place to learn.

Now I just need to figure out what I'm going to do with the rest of this carton of analogs. 6 packs left... I'll probably just throw them in the freezer 'just in case'.

Day one is done.

Had an analog when I woke up, fell back to sleep on the couch. Heard the mailman, grabbed my mail, tore open the box from CigEasy and I've been vaping all day.

No urge for an analog and aside from overdoing it early on and getting a nasty headache it's been a good day.

I think this just might work for me :)

That sounds exactly like my first day, right down to the headache!

The first week was weird. Kept having the urge for a cigarette, more out of habit than anything. I just vaped through the worst of it, and after a week or so it felt completely natural and haven't had any cravings since.

If you're gonna lay down the smokes, just do it. Ram your way through those weird feelings and you'll be right as rain in no time at all! You sound as though you have the right frame of mind to do it!

I like the Joye 510 so far, even with 2-3 hours battery life. I keep one charging, use the USB pass through, and keep the PCC charged for times when I need to be out of the house. I've found that adding drops to the cartridge is easy and not a bother at all. I even mix flavors at times when one gets a little harsh. A drop of one and then the other sometimes creates a nice change. A couple of drops os USA Mix added to a half full 555 cart sweetens the vapor up just fine if it starts to taste flat,

I can charge the PCC with a USB cigarette lighter plug from my GPS when needed, so all I need is a good atomizer, several carts, a couple of batteries, and I 'm good for the day.
