My first REO and my first micro coil attempt, pics inside

OK so as promised pics of my new REO.

I'm using a REOmizer 2.0 with stainless steel wick and micro coil (1/16 wrap. Getting 1.4ohms across the posts so I suspect I need a thicker gauge wire do reduce resistance.

vaping beautifully though! I ordered some copper drip tips and I plan to do a brass reomizer as well. I MAY sand and polish the black but enjoying the look right now

Yeah I backed off a few wraps to drop it down to 1.4... Problem is I'm not sure what gauge it is. My buddy (EddieAdams) gave me some different gauges and I'm not sure which is which. I used the thickest which I suspect is 30ga, he's bringing me 28 later tonight.

I can't no. My buddy swears by the stainless wicks and honestly I'm just taking his advice at this point. I will try cotton to compare sooner than later.

SS has more throat hit in a RM2, cotton is tasty but lasts oooh - a day! SS will last till you are bored.

When i have been arsed to do it - i have made an SS wick with silica inside it (so a hybrid wick) and it's been ok, but fiddly. Most RM2 or indeed Reo users seem to like microcoils with cotton wool ball wicks.

HRH will point blank refuse steel wicks and insists on her silica micros. It really is a 'suck it and see' scenario.

Those are not the only possibilities, just the most commonplace.

check out super-x drifter's sticky thread at the top of the Reo forum. It's an easy way to make repeatable coils. The videos are cool if you like that accent!

i'll not bore you with what i do, but i will point you to advice that works with the minimum effort

I think you might come to like the feel of black wrinkle. It holds up well, cleans easy, looks sharp. The last time I tried stainless, it did have some appeal, and I found you can use very short lengths without getting dry hits. I wound up with a piece just barely larger than the coil, and just dry burned to clean it once a week or so. Nice looking rig, enjoy it!
