My Janty eGo first impressions

I JUST experienced the first real negative of any kind with the eGO battery which I didn't expect - button go stuck in down position - the light made it easy for me to notice quickly, but as this has been a prob once before for me with the screwdriver (melted plastic carts are no fun)... anyway. Just thought I should note it since I have only used for about 2 weeks now, we'll see if it was a fluke or if it turns into a more regular issue.

i think i'm gonna bite the bullet and go for it. this PV sounds like exactly what i'm looking for. long batt life, good flavor, and i'm flying through juice dripping in my volcano usb passthru. the l88b battery isn't cutting it for vapor production anymore since i got my passthru - and i'm sick of being tied to my desk.

i've been waffling between the volcano/eGo and the chuck. i think this is the winner.

Have any of you had the problem of the button accidently being pushed on the eGo while in your pocket? I watched a review where a gentleman said that this was the only thing about the eGo that he didn't like.

He ended up taking it apart befor putting it back into his pocket to remedy the situation. Shame they don't sell a case for it that would prevent this from happening.
Unfortunately, I had that problem. I had it in my purse and leaned against it while sitting in a restaurant. I felt something very hot and started searching for the cause. My EGO battery was smoldering. It was extremely hot and melted the button and the atomizer. Janty was, as always, wonderful. They immediately replaced the parts and warned me not to put the EGO where the button might get stuck as I did.

If you look at the design of the plastic button, you will see that it's not too hard for something (dirt, finger crud, etc..) to drop down into the button hole alongside the clear plastic piece. Once in there, the crud can wedge between a flange on the clear plastic piece and the body of the battery (internally). That can cause the button to "stick".

I've had the button stick on me several times on my eGo. Only once in my pocket, the rest just using it normally. Once unstuck, it seemed to work fine. I just had both batteries die yesterday withing hours of each other...and they won't recharge. The charge light stays green. I'm not trying to bash Janty, because I really like this guy (anywhere from 8-17 hours on a charge), but there are some issues that need to be resolved. The first thing I do when the button sticks is to unscrew the atomizer, so the damn thing doesn't go China Syndrome on me. So back to the 510 PT for now, but I've got an SB and a Juicebox coming (someday).

Hi Guys,
Fairly new vaper here, new forum member and 1st time poster. History: tried ecigs about a year ago with Smoking Everywhere. Was very disappointed and eventually just threw it away. Finally found this forum and after reading many posts decided to order the eGo. Got the eGo on Feb 12 and smoked my last analog on Feb 13. Don't have much to compare it to since Smoking Everywhere is my only previous experience but I am very pleased so far. Been smoking analogs for 42 years and desperately needed to quit for health reasons. The eGo made it easy to put them down. Only 2 minor complaints so far: 1) on one of the batteries the button tends to stick in the on position. Janty USA has offered to replace it but I have to send the old one to them first which means I'll be stuck with only 1 battery for a week or 2. My new analog free lifestyle is too fragile at this point to risk being unable to vape for a couple of hours while the battery is charging. Guess I'll have to order a new battery and then return the defective one after I get a new one. 2) Janty seems to have an inventory problem. Seems many of the products on their website are "not currently available". I was wanting to order some more liquid and cartridges this past Monday and everything I wanted to order was not in stock. By reading on this forum I found Halo and have ordered a bottle of Cool liquid from them. Looking forward to trying that out. I also figured out a way to "rebuild" my old cartridges. I had 2 packs of analogs left that I wasn't using so I cut the filters off them and used the filter material to replace the old cartridge material and filled them up with liquid. Works great and cheaper too. The cartridges are about a rip off anyhow. Can't cost more than a few cents to make them and a 5 pack costs $5. I can refill 3 cartridges with the filter material from 1 analog. Anyhow, I've rambled on enough. Thanks for this forum and for all the great info I've found here.

Seems like the eGo still has a few bugs to work out. I have the automatic eGo currently and have had a few problems. First the atomizer went out after only a couple of days (Janty replaced it really quickly which rocked) but now one of the auto batts has died comletely and the other one I really need to suck on in order to get anything.

When I first got it I was really impressed. Great vapor, great throat hit, AWESOME battery life. But yeah, still a few bugs to work out or so it seems.

I just got mine yesterday. Well, I got Totally Wicked's version, the Tornado, same thing. This is the second device I've purchased, I was very unsatisfied with the first one, although it is responsible for me quitting smoking. Either way, the eGo/Tornado is absolutely amazing. Great vapor production, battery life is superb. This is the best purchase I've ever made.

Hello,
One month report card for the Ego....
Well, all I can say is for me, the Ego is fantastic...Picked it up and started vaping
on Feb 11, 2010, and have not had a need for a analog since...(1 1/2 pack a day
smoker)... Good battery life, (manual), also have auto batteries but keep them as
spares...The attys are good, order 510 attys, works great...
Problems: All the places I go and people see me vaping, wants to know about
E-cigs...Already can get a little old repeating the vaping history/story...Wish, I had
a card to hand out about the Ego to just give them...lol..
Again, the Ego was my first purchase, so can't compare with other ones...
Enjoy,
PaulCincy

Although I've read on this forum that he eGo is not a "true" 3.7v device, I'm very happy with mine. Purchased it in early January and still going strong. I alternate btwn the eGo and the Mega KR808 battery w/510 atty. Both suit me just fine, however, the 808 Mega has more TH. But the battery life on the eGo is superior. Just wish they weren't proprietary batts.

I have been using my branded eGo from happyvaper.com since Friday. It is my only ugprade from the 510 since I started vaping and I must say it is a excellent upgrade.

The battery life is very good and the cone is a must have to enhance the flavours.

Wished that the eGo was on the market when I first started. All new comers who are considering the 510 should consider the eGo instead.

It is one heck of a vaping machine!

The eGo is manufactured by JoyE (OEM) and distributed by vendors with their unique individual logos. Hence, why mine is the Happy eGo, but an/"the" eGo nonetheless. Janty is the developer, all eGos are created the same. So should some vendor calim he has the "original eGo" that is purely a marketing strategy. Shop around for the best buy.

It came in the usual self-contained box. In which:

2 x eGo Batteries 3.7V (650 mAh)
1 x eGo 510 atomizer (JoyE)
1 x eGo Atomizer Cover
1 x Fast USB Wall Charger (420 mA)
1 x USB wall plug adapter *
5 x spare cartridges
1 x eGo Carrying Pouch
1 x eGo User Manual

First impressions
The eGo was ready to go straight out of the box. The atomizer is an original and not a clone. I filled up a cart with some 555 and dripped a few drops on the atty. Place the cart in the atty and screwed on the atomizer cover over the atty.

I took a nice slow hit, not too long, but long enough and I nearly gagged when I inhaled. Not because of the atty primer we sometimes hear about, but because of the amount of vapour it generated in just a few seconds. The throat hit is decent and vapour production great.

What is the purpose of the atomizer cone? Well it makes the unit look slick. But there is more to it than that. I helps maintain a insulated environment for the atomizer to operate. It also restricts the draw. The latter is not a fault but a benefit. There is no sucking sound when the unit is operated, unlike what we hear when using the standard 510. The draw is pleasant and similar to the Stick's draw with a stock 302. The difference, the atty performs like a 510, giving plenty of flavour, throat hit and vapour, without the harshness of the 510 we often feel.

I recently reviewed the "Stick" in which I wasn't too fussy on the 302's performance, and couldn't wait to adapt a 510 in my stick. The draw on the stick is very similar to the eGO, and I believe that I will be pleased when I use my "stick" with a 510 atty.

I ordered my eGo in Stainless because of the clean look to it, and that because under review I gather that the paint chips on the coloured ones. Because of the classy lines of this unit, I wanted the clas to last. This is the type of device that one vapes while wearing a suit.

I also like that the atomizer cover, covers the entire atty and extends 1mm pass the atomizer. What does this mean? Well I vape several flavours a day and have several atty/cart combos of varying colour. Because the atty is hidden, all one sees is a beautiful shiny unit with a tip.

* A point to note: The eGo comes complete with a wall adapter and specific USB charger capable of charging the 650 mah batteries. IAW the user's manual, this charger combination cannot and should not be used to charge 510 batteries or destroy the batteries in the process.

I am not sure what would happen in reverse if one was to use the 510 charger to charge the eGo batts, it would probably take forever. As the kit comes with the necessary charging accouterments, one should use those that came with the kit. Since they look identical, I would label both the charger and USB cable, or paint eGo on them, and keep 'me as a unit separately.

Overall I am quite happy with this purchase and what I especially like about the unit - it stands on end. Therefore the juice is always at the proper position in the cart - waiting to be wicked by the atomizer.

Ok so it has been a little less than 2 months since my review and to keep this ongoing I thought I would post an update.

First I have had zero problems with my eGo batteries in fact they seem to last longer over time. I am still using the original atty it came with, however the performance of this atty is declining as would be expected. I do regular maintenance on it per Janty's instructions, run under water, blow out, and then dry run it.

I have used several liquids from Halo to Ecopure which is still my favorite. And overall the device is performing well. I am using another atty half the time to help extend the life but it might be time to get the Janty one replaced. I have tried carts on it and it is ok, but nothing to write home about. This has more to do with my preference on carts than it does the Janty, I really wanted to like carts, but the vapor production does not seem as good I will try some V4life premium ones in the future to see if that helps.

I have recommended this device to friends and they have also enjoyed it and switched from chewing or analogs. Again with all the devices I know of I have not seen one issue personally.

I would definitely recommend this device even after using it for this long. It is easy to write reviews on devices that are new because they perfom well, it is if they perform well after months of use thats really matters and the eGo does.

I am also just about 2 months in with the Janty eGo. I have noticed a slight decrease in battery life. The atty performance has dropped to the point where I had to put on a new atty. I did dry run it, but this did not do much. I will give it a few wash/dry run cycles and post the results later.

In all I am very satisfied with the eGo. Before the eGo I was using a silver bullet. It was way to big to use in public, and I hated the standard 510 battery/PCC combo. This has worked out to be the happy medium.

Also, the charge times are fantastic. I still have not drained a fresh battery before a drained one is recharged. This is great if you vape a lot while having a few drinks.
