My Mech mod gets very hot from top to bottom starting from heating coil? Any Danger?

From constant vaping, my mods heats up and it get warm to hot very often. I know its not the batteries because they are new and it happens to almost all my PVs.

First my atomizer gets very hot then down to my telescopic mod/s. Should I be scared? Any warnings for me?

If your batteries are damaged they are going to heat up in different pvs. So - what kind of batteries, what pvs? And no, they shouldn't be getting hot. And yes, be worried.

Yes.

Especially if it's a mech.

Hot & Lithium battery is not a happy place.

Yes. in no way should you consider this "normal" behavior for a mod to get hot.

You speak too many scary symptoms, and give us little details.

What topper?

What resistance? If you don't know the resistance, and it's a rebuildable, can you snag a pic of the build and post it for us?

What mods?

Battery = 18350? 18490? 18650? What brand?

Does the battery get "hot" if you take it out and check it?

Without details others or myself can't help you in any way other than warn you it's not good, and not normal.

Yes, you should be scared enough to remove the batteries from your mod and put that thing away until you know what you are doing.

New batteries does NOT equal safe usage. If the mod body is heating up... then your battery is heating up. Not good!! Odds are you are drawing too high of drain on your batteries and getting dangerously close to thermal venting.

You need to know the following:

What resistance (ohm's) is your coil unit?

What specific manufacturer and model battery are you using. What is it's amperage rating?

If you don't have a digital multimeter and a clear understanding of the safe ranges for operating your setup. Please, for your safety, put it away until you do... There's a lot of very good safe operating info on this site. Please go read it and take it very seriously.

ok i would like to add something to this... i have experienced "hot" mods from sub ohm chain vaping... most common thing is the top cap gets ridiculously hot... but it is common for that heat to spread to the mod itself... it happens, that is the time to take a few minutes and just relax... now this is not an always thing, and this is only common when really chain vaping...

this does not mean that i just absently vape away... but i have done it, especially when im on my show... when im hosting my show i find that i tend to become a little absent minded with how much i vape...

It's not uncommon for the barrel of a cartomizer or the coil area of a tank to get warm. The mod will conduct some of that heat and dissipate it, but it is probably telling you it's time to back off and let it cool.

Tell us the resistance of your coil, what battery and what mech you are using. You probably need a fuse or a sacrificial spring in your mech to ensure you don't take it too far. IMR batts are safest. Unprotected Li-ion batts will heat up and suddenly spew (and probably explode) if you continue on after it's very warm. If that happens you probably won't have time to toss it before it burns your hand or even worse, explodes. It all happens in a few seconds.

A telescoping mod has the advantage of being able to accomodate a range of battery sizes; the downside is you compromise electrical contact; if you have extra ohms from the telescoping contact points, those points are going to heat up.

If it's just the topper that gets very hot and the heat is merely spreading down to the battery tube, then you really need to not run too hot for too long; all that heat is going to stress your center pin too and soon enough you'll be getting center pin problems

My SVD is telescoping and has never heated up. OP said this problem is happening with all his pvs.

Actually what he seems to say is it happens to all his telescoping mods.

Yeah, well we're still waiting for info on what batteries and mods he was using. My point is a lot of people use telescoping mods without them getting hot like this. My SVD doesn't even warm up. What OP describes is not normal.

did he blow his hands off making it hard to provide some pertinent info? As of now, I'm guessing a .1 ohm coil on a Helios clone, using a Chi You clone with brand spanking new Trustfires from fast tech.

.05Ω quad coil using ICRs harvested from a 2004 Dell laptop. 6 free batteries, what a find!

He posted a video of himself at the mall this morning. :D

ROFL

Surely that isn't really him in the video?

How stupid can some people be. And to post a vid of your idiocy...
