The Penelope finally came in today and what can I say this thing is a vaping powerhouse! It came assembled from COV so I took it apart and wiped everything down and reassembled. Making the coil was easy and I must say MUCH easier to get it running compared to the genesis atty. Within 5-10 minutes I was up and vaping. It’s ohming out at 1.6 and I’m running it on my provari mini at 4v. The draw it perfect, tons of flavor, throat hit, and vapor! I might even have to lower my nic level as im getting a nic buzz as I write this! Machine quality is superb, it really is a piece of art. I put the clear tank on to see what I’m doing at first and looks great.

A couple of things I noticed. First was with building the coils with the premade wire I got a metallic taste so I made one with 32g kanthal and silver wire for the nr and no metallic taste noticed. Not sure if it’s the wire or what but all is good. The other thing I noticed was I was getting dry hits on occasion. With the clear tank on you can see all of the internals and looked as though there was an air pocket underneath the base of the mouthpiece. It basically looks as if the eliquid is being trapped on the top of the base unable to get to the wick. If I twist the mouthpiece back and forth liquid squeezes down the side and hits the wick and no more dry hits. I’m wondering if this happens for people that are experiencing poor vapor or taste. If so you may be getting this juice lockout. Anyways, very pleased with my new mistress and hats off to imeo, now I see what all the fuss is about! :D

If you do a double wick design, or even a triple you won't get any dry hits.

You may want to try it when you decide to rebuild. Having 2-3 wicks in the cup really keeps the hits nice and juicy and it's no more effort then doing a single. Note: you only have one wick going down the sides, just more wicks twisted in coil wire.

thanks a lot shack, I am very glad to hear that!:)
From now on when I will make a new GG atomizer I will make clear tanks too for testing purposes so I will know everytime what is going on inside GG atomizers.

Please forgive my noobiness, but what is this clear tank of which you speak? I can foresee my only problem with the penelope will be in the uncertainty of how much juice I have left.

As far as the metallic taste is concerned, I noticed that too. I figured it was just part of the breaking in. I found the taste went away after using it for about an hour or so. All I'm getting now is the flavor of my juice.

I must say one of the things I like best about the penelope is the way it seems to have brought all my old mods back to life. I'm not fortunate enough to have a GGTS, but I do have a variety of other 3.7 devices which I keep around in case of emergency but hardly ever use. I have tried the penelope on all of them and it rocks!

I am curious though about how often I might expect to have to replace the coil. I told you I was a noob, didn't I?

Kir Fanis that posts on this board makes a line of clear tanks for the Penelope and Odysseus. It's basically a section that replaces the middle metal tube.

The metallic taste is from your wire but it just goes away when the coil burns in a bit.

The coil changes are kind of random but they last quite a while. When I change flavors I tend to take it apart and give it a quick rinse including the coil and wire and then either let it dry naturally or dry burn the coil a bit before adding new juice. Keeps the coil fresh too. It all depends on use of course but they should last at least a couple weeks under very heavy use and can last a lot longer.

Yea it's another advantage of these over a genesis device. The barbed wire hit when you run out of juice on a genesis is not something I'd like to ever have happen again.

With these...meh, you're out and you just get no flavor. They will use all of the juice to the last drop so when you get nothing it's empty and I mean empty.

Top it off before running around :)

It holds about 2ml, for me that's good for most of the day but regardless I always unscrew the cap and dribble a bit of juice down until it's full.

The clear tanks do look fantastic though. Can't go wrong. I don't have the Penelope ones but I do have the Odysseus one and it really shows off the impeccable machining on the inside parts.

Here's a couple of pics of the trap tank and penelope for size comparison. My only problem now is that when I go back to using cartos it just doesn't compare to the quality of vape to the penelope! My taste buds are getting spoiled with this thing :)

no worries, I vape more than you Ez lol

Truthfully Imeo you've ruined me a bit. When I quit smoking a month ago I was vaping about 3ml a day out of those chinese cartomizers, and vivi nova tanks. At that point vaping was just OK and it was enough to get me by.

Then I got my first Odysseus and Penelope's and now I vape a lot more. It just tastes better, there is more vapor, the throat hit is more like a cigarette. Where as before I was just getting by now I find I'm really enjoying it.

So thank you for your good work.

There are the 3 distinct phases,

Phase 1- quit smoking.

Phase 2- quit cartos.

Phase 3- find GG and quit everything else!

I had a really off "taste" for the first day until I couldn't take it any longer. No juices tasted good. Threw away the premade wire Penelope came with, and also took a gas flame to the ceramic for about 30 seconds or so.

Made up a new coil using 32 nic for the resistance wire. Running 2.1 ohms at 4.6 volts on 100% VG juice.

Now I get what the rave about Penelope is all about. Love it! Tasting flavors that never came out in the liquids before, plus awesome vapor.

Now I just got to save up and get another one. Great product here.

The off taste may have been from your ceramic but I haven't had that problem with any of these. Although I do generally soap and rinse anything new I get.

Just be warned that depending on the type of wire you are using you will have a bit of off taste while the coil is breaking in. Nichrome generally has a bit of a distinct taste but it's very very subtle. Kanthal has a much stronger taste to start but it goes away fairly quickly.

Maybe you had to burn the premade wires too buddy?:)
