Hmm... Guess I'm kind of the simple one. I usually just drip 3-4 drops every hour or so into the battery end and vape away. If I think one's getting close to the halfway point or whatever, I drip 8-10 drops at a time or until I see it leaking out the mouth end, set it down for a few minutes and try it. If I get juice in my mouth, I use a paper towel and give it a decent "fling" and it usually gets the excess out so I can continue. Probably just lazy and impatient, I guess...

Nothing wrong with that, the trick is only to pack in as much juice as possible, helpful if you are on the go or just don't want to fiddle with it often. It also helps prevent that mouthful of juice and I've come to appreciate that freshly rinsed taste.

I went out to my garage to whip-up something to spin the cartos for a better refill and this is what I came up with. It works great, just pop the carts in and pull the trigger.

Heh thats close to my idea, although I'm planning a rubber glove and an electric beater... Still haven't got around to getting that glove yet, but I got a order chock full of new carto's right when This thread started, and prever to use them all before I start refilling, so haven't needed to yet.

I think I have something here that may work for use with this refilling method.

I have more photos and some detail on it...should I just post it all here or start a different thread?

Think I have to do this in multiple replies...

First off, thanks so much to Taryn for discovering this refilling technique....it's made a world of difference for me in refilling cartomizers.

I happened to find this hand-held fan in a drawer the other day (purchased last summer for reasons unkown). It's called an O2 Cool Necklace Fan.

I know I got it at a dollar store for..............a dollar. Anyway, it seems to work pretty well as a spinner for cartos. And, I really didn't have to spend any additional to convert it. To keep this short, I'll try to show what I did with this one, similar fans should work as well.

First, I dis-assembled it:

O2Fan1.jpg

The handle was removed, as well as the upper (orange) and lower (blue) fan guards (needed to pull the green fan off to remove the lower one). I then took the top fan guard and cut around the outer circle to create notches. I cut through every other section so as to still allow for some rigidity.

I flipped this piece and glue it to the top of the fan, and re-attached the fan to the motor shaft.

The guard will hold 8 cartridges max (I created notches that should hold ten cartos, but they will not fit so you may want to only make notches for 8).

Next I took the lower fan guard and cut off the out ring, leaving just the "fingers". I just used the wire cutter from a needle nose pliers to make all the snips.

I insert the cartos (the gap between the condoms fits into the notch pretty well to hold them in place). Place the mouth end towards the center, battery end hanging out, then place the blue guard over them and push down on the center of it with your finger while turning the fan on, and let it run for 30-45 seconds. The motor doesn't have a lot of torque, so use the least amount of pressure possible.

The blue guard prevents the cartos from flying out WHICH THEY WILL DO WITHOUT THE BLUE GUARD!!

This is a far from perfect option. But, it is inexpensive, and will hopefully provide the true innovators out there with a starting point for making something far beyond my abilities.

Here are the Pros and Cons I have observed thus far:

PROS:

1. Inexpensive. Aside from the fan, I only needed 2 AA batteries and some glue...everything else is fabricated from the fan parts.

2. Can spin up to 8 carts at a time.

3. I don't hit myself in the head anymore :)

4. Small. Relatively lightweight and doesn't need the use of other equipment (although I been eyeing the cement mixer truck across the street)

CONS:

1. 2 handed operation, and a little clumsy inserting and removing the cartos.

2. Rather flimsy unit. You need to be careful inserting / removing carts to avoid damaging the thin plastic or glued pieces.

3. Takes a little practice to master the art of holding the blue guard down with your finger and allowing the motor to spin properly.

But, all in all seems to work pretty good. Just remember to line up cartos opposite each other when you put them in for balance. I've tried 2 / 4 / 6 / 8 carts successfully.

There are certainly improvements to this rather quick prototype, but it is functional in this form. I tried to highlight the steps without making this overly long, but if I didn't explain anything well enough I can expand.

Leaford -

Tried it that way first, but it didn't work as well....upside down works much better. With the outer ring still attached, the carts are too loose and eventually fly out. Same with the ring removed. I thought the "fingers would interlock around the edge and hold the cartos and itself in place. However, once up to speed it would fly out. If I take it apart again, though, I will probably add a small bolt up through the center of the orange guard, and use a small wingnut to tighten and hold down the blue guard to make it a one-handed operation.
