My RM2 will be here today...

My RM2 should arrive shortly and I can't decide what I should use for my first build. I have 32g kanthal and some silica wick on hand. Should I run to Walgreens and get some sterile rolled cotton? I'm excited and nervous at the same time. My rba experience is quite limited and past efforts have been total fails. I'm just curious as to which will be easiest to get me on the right path. Thanks!

I have never tried cotton! I would say go for the silica!

It's here and I built my first coil! 32g kanthal with some silica. It ohm-ed out at 2.5 so I cranked my VV Grand up to 5.1v. (In my best Dr. Frankenstien voice) IT'S ALIVE!! IT'S ALIVE!!!!!! Thanks to Rob's video and the great Reo community, I have a working rba! I'll try to build a lower ohm coil later to use on my standard Grand. But, for now, I'm one happy vaper! Thanks for a great and easy-to-build atty Rob!

Yay!! You did it! They really are pretty easy to build, aren't they?! A new toy to obsess over! Ha. If you go to Walgreens, get a bag of the "Studio 35 Beauty" organic cotton balls. Those are as good as/better than rolled cotton. AND.....if you just want to sample all the options out there without going all over town collecting them, PM me and I'll send you samples of all the wicking goodies that I'VE driven all over MY town collecting. I have several types of 100% cotton threads/yarns, a couple sizes of bamboo, some hemp, some Ekowool, etc. I would be glad to stick a "care package" in the mail with a sampling of everything I have.

If you like the silica, I suggest giving Ekowool a try. I loved it so much, I bought a truckload on Ebay for next to nothing, along with 100-foot spools of Kanthal wire and ribbon wire. If you are like many people, you will end up rebuilding a LOT, because it's fun, and you get the cleanest vapes for about 3-5 days, and at these prices, a rebuild costs a nickel.

Congrats!!! Mine comes in tomorrow yipppeee....I think building a coil is faster and easier than trying to put together a carto tank!

Easy isn't it? if i can do it anyone can - i admit i need a few aids like magnification and good light etc!

I just watched a youtube video of someone making a dual coil for a different atomiser and i had tears running down my face as at 20 mins into it and trying to fit it - the pin fell out of the 510 connector, the top would not go on! I've been there!

If you feel like a bit of experimentation, check out super-x's tutorial. I have recommended it to people all over this forum because it's very helpful although his speciality is microcoils.
