My story...

Well, I've posted five times, so I figure I may as well get my background out of the way also.. To start, I have Asperger's (I don't usually open with this, but, if I have to interact with people regularly, I like to warn then that I tend to not have a filter and take things quite literally most of the time)-
In any event, I am 35 and I have to have a knee replacement. Because I am so young, I can only have (or least they only prefer to do) a cement less knee replacement. They can only do this if a quit smoking. My spouse travels to Oklahoma frequently, and I guess vaping is really huge there, so, we have been talking about it for a while. The knee replacement pretty much sealed the deal. We're about a month in, and I have to say, this is pretty awesome. I smoked for like 19-20 years, and the closest I ever got to quitting was talking about it.

Welcome to vaping and to ECF! I've been vaping for 4 months now and joined ECF at about the same time. This forum board is great!! I've learned so much and have had great experiences with the people here. Everyone I've come across wants to help and support. So ask questions, someone will be there to help and tell you about their experiences. The best of luck to you!
Vape on!! :vapor:

Sometimes it takes something serious to happen for us to seriously consider giving up the tobacco!
I had been thinking about it for 35years  but never made the effort until I stumbled across an E-cig! Fortunately for me it was not an operation or anything of the kind, just a fluke (and a bit of will-power in the first couple of days when I wasn`t quite sure it would work).
Best of luck with your knee op and while you are recovering see it as a kind of mixed blessing, and when you are up and about stay with the vaping :D there is lots of support and advice on here.

Good luck on your knee surgery and on staying smoke free. I was having repeated bouts of bronchitis which is what sparked my interest in ways to quit. I am currently at a week smoke free, but it's a start! I have been lurking for a bit and learning a little every day. There is a lot of great information available here! If you need some noobie support with quitting, feel free to PM me.

Welcome 1/2 pint!!

I have a similar story to yours. I just had a total shoulder replacement 4 weeks ago and had to quit smoking in order for the bones to heal properly. I never thought I could WANT to quit, let alone actually do it. Vaping has changed my life and I know it will for you too!! Congratulations on quitting and good luck with the healing!! :)

Roonies: out if curiosity, did you doc tell you it had to be a no tobacco or no nicotine situation?...my doctor and my spouse have been going rounds about this distinction, and in the meantime I've been weaning my nic level down a bit faster than is comfortable (the doctor says I have to have quit for months for him to perform the surgery)-
