Hey yall
I spend a lot of time alone on my job to think. Here is what I am thinking.
I am kinda disapointed in myself. I have been doing the e cig thing for a week now and I can not cut myself off the anlogs. I am not being hard on myself but I am torn,
Both have their plus and minus just like everthing elese in this life.

The plus:
Smoking pv is much safer than analogs.( so Far) no cance causing things and stuff.
The minus:
I get a dry throught from doing so and It is not the same as analogs! Not as much smoke or vapor
The thing I will miss is the act of rolling my anologs and smoking spiting the peices of tobaco ( I do not use filters) while at work I have sunflower seeds and that gives me the spiting issue.
I want the pv to work. I have been on analogs for 31 years and want to stop!!!!!
I am just venting to people that know wher I am coming from. My wife tries to help but being a non smoker it's hard to explain to her.
I guess my qt is anyone having the same problem??? Or am I just too week to give up my anologs..

More to come later.. I go on my days off in 24 hours and will post again like it or not!!!LOL

Unfortunately e-cigs are not a cure all. What you enjoy from smoking is the tasting and spitting of the tobacco. IMO the ecig's biggest triumph over any other (yes i'm going to say it) smoke cessation product is the oral fixation, as well as those who enjoy watching/playing with the smoke. you unfortunately have a different habit to overcome.

About the amount of vapor, it could be the way you are puffing on it. I pull it into my mouth and then inhale and slowly exhale, tasting the vapor. There are many factors it seems. (I'm a newbie myself) But from what i've learned in the past few weeks are that dripping gives the best vapor and taste, followed by topping off with eliquid, and last prefilled carts. Perhaps you are directly inhaling the vapor which causes less vapor. Holding it in too long. Or blowing out too fast. Perhaps think of it more like a cigar. savior the smoke and taste and slowing exhale it from your mouth.

Again I'm a newb at it, but that's how i do it. Sometimes I'm disappointed in the vapor and feeling... but top it off and prime it up and it's back to what i love.

PV's will never be just like smoking. But there are a few PV's that are far superior to most on the market. It would help to know what PV you are using and what kind of smoker you are. Considering you smoke non-filtered cigs, I would guess you want a strong throat hit to get closer to the real thing. You definitely should consider a manual switch PV if you want more of a cigarette feel from vaping.

Tankerman, I know where your coming from on some level. I do sometimes miss analogs as quite frankly they were just easier to use than my NPro. Analogs you just pull one out and light it. The PV requires a bit more to deal with in the form of ensuring you have a charged battery, filling the cart or dripping, etc. In fact one of the friends I have recently turned on to e-cigs just ran into the problem of "When do I know that I am done smoking?" siting that you know when an analog is done. He feels that with an e-cig there is no sense of closure. However, as I have stated in posts before it does require a conscious decision. Though I have to admit it is much easier to make that decision with an e-cig than with the patch, gum, etc. This is just my opinion however.

My advice is just hang in there. Try to make it a conscious decision when you need a smoke, pop in a few sunflower seeds as you prepare your cart or drip, spit em out and take a drag. See if it works. For many it takes time to make the switch fully. Don't get down on yourself. And if you get frustrated, know you got some support here. :D

As for your dry or sore throat issue, get some non-pg full strength nic juice from Johnson's Creek. You can choose non-PG, which is based on vegetable glycerin rather than propylene glycol, which is apparently known to give sore/dry throat at least in the first few weeks. Plus, JC has some very tasty juice that you may begin to prefer over the taste of tobacco--their original formula, full strength, in VG form, is mighty tasty and tastes a bit like fine whiskey!

I posted this earlier to someone with the same problem. Please try this it takes 5-10 minutes and can change your life.

My first 5-6 days with the PV I was the same way- I still needed that real smoke.

I had tried using EFT to quit smoking before the PV but it didn't work.

The first thing I noticed is that after 2-3 day of my 510 analogs taste terrible. They also gave me a headache, but this still wasn't enough to make me quit.

I have been using E.F.T. Emotional Freedom Techniques ( a needle less form of accupuncture ) for various physical and emotional issues. EFT or Tapping as it is better known can really help a person change unwanted thoughts and relieve physical pains.

I started Tapping on "Even though I want a real cigarette...." after two day of tapping on and off I am over analogs.. It is amazing to me.

EFT is free to learn at EFT Home - World Center for EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques)

Here is how you do it- Everyone Please try this on anything that is bothering you, it will help.

PS
I would love to hear anyones result using EFT. I know it works even though it seems like the strangest thing in the world.

pps
Even though the video dosen't say anything about using EFT to stop smoking, EFT will work on anything and everything. I am using EFT in a program I call "Tapping on Golf Performance" I have improved golf scores with tapping. PM me if your interested.

HEY TANKERMAN!!!

Here's a suggestion. You say you have a hard time because you're used to rolling your own analogs? Maybe try something like this;
ThinkGeek :: Fiendish Japanese Pocket Puzzle

When you need a smoke, fire up your e-cig, and keep your hands busy with one of those pocket puzzles. It may help.

Don't be so hard on yourself, everyone is different. If you have cut down on analogs, that's a huge plus in itself!

In the beginning, after reading so much on this forum, I decided the best thing to do in order to be successful was to smoke analogs when I really wanted them without pressure or guilt.

One evening before going to bed, I had smoked the last analog I had. I told myself I would try the next day to go completely without an analog and just see how it goes. It was so much easier than I thought! Smoke free ever since.

I think in time you will just decide one day to give up the analogs. Remember... no pressure or guilt! You will get there!:thumb:

I never got the sore throat, but always had water or something else to drink nearby. Alot of people seem to think it really helps.

I understand Tank your problem. I started vaping a long while back and it took me a long while to rid myself of the analogs. I still smoked one in the morning. My husband smokes in the house and my daughter. At work everyone smokes and in the building. I cannot escape from being around analogs.

Problem two was I spend alot of money on e-cigs that did not satisfied me. I bought juice that I did not like. Kept searchin and searchin for a good e -liquid. This all went on for a few months.

In the beginning of my vaping my throat was always dry and it seem like a analog would make it better. I was getting close to just giving up vaping.
My husband made fun of me vaping. Atomizers all burnt up and my e-cig wouldn't work right or give me what I needed.

Too low nicotine juice made me want to smoke and too high nicotine made me have bad headaches with nervous tension. I had to search to fine the right dose. Drip to much liquid in atomizer and have a mouth full of liquid.

Anyway this is some of my troubles a while back. Finally I got me some of those high volt e-cigs and finally a hit like a analog. Finally found some e-juice that I could live with. I can now say, that I love vaping. That vaping is my answer to quit analogs. I know it wouldn't be long before that one analog is gone. I can smell and hate the smell of those analogs. I am finding that the one analog in the morning I cannot even finish it.
Hang in there and research the new high volt e-cigs. Not everyone would like them, but for me its what it took.

Tankerman,

Don't feel bad about feeling bad, Bro. We're human and quitting analogs is one of the toughest things you can do.
I went for a Screwdriver E-Cig and it was perfect for me. Other heavy hitter models such as the GG, The Prodigy, The Magnum or The Janty Stick will probably make quitting a little easier as the throat hit is substantial and you don't need to fiddle with batteries too much, compared to a regular E-Cig.

Even if it takes you a while and you just cut down the analogs, you have already made a big change for the better for your health.

We are all here on these forums to help each other. If yer feelin' bummed, come on in and rant. THAT helps too...: )

I thank yall for being here for me. I pray I will do the same.
I think I found the problem. I am gonna order a heavy hitter or just build one.
Keep a look out for my post I will let yall know hows it going.
It is good for people of like disorders (analogs) to come together and sort things out together.
Thanks again

Tanker, I've been vaping two weeks now and I had the same problem as you for the first 10 ml of fluid I went through. Once I finished the first bottle (some random tabbaco flavor) I started on my bottle of mint flavor and I loved the fresh clean feeling it gave. So much so I'm really wishing I ordered 5 of those instead of 5 different ones. So after not taking enough juice to work one night and just running out of mint I rolled myself a smoke and lit it up... I felt dirty and nasty it was so repulsive it was shocking, I couldn't even take a second drag. Even the smell bothered me in ways I would have never believed (being a 1-2 pack a day smoker for 7 years, off topic a bit I feel young around here started at 15 ). Once you recover your sense of taste quitting should be much easier just hang in there. Also, I found the stock batteries to be too weak I had one on the charger and one in use and they would drop off power too quickly. Often leaving me wanting a stronger hit without a fresh battery to do so. I reccomend you peak over to the mod forum and look at the nico stick. The 14500 Ultrafire I got in my nico stick gives satisfying drags much longer than the stock batteries and having two I have more than enough battery life for the whole day just slap them on the charger before bed. Best of luck to you :)
