V1. Dry Throat, Sore Throat
Tobacco withdrawal produces a sore throat in some people. It is unknown why this occurs but perhaps cigarette smoke ingredients have some sort of preventative or anaesthetic effect, and stop the throat becoming sore during cigarette use, which it is easy to see could cause it.

Some - but by no means all - suffer from a dry throat, or even a sore throat, when starting to use an e-cigarette due to the drying-out effect of PG.

If a person suffers from both conditions: the tobacco withdrawal sore throat, and the e-cigarette new-user sore throat, then in rare cases a fiercely sore throat can result.

PG is a humectant (attracts, ie 'sucks out' water) and when vaping the back of the throat gets coated. You can find that after sleeping, you wake up with a sore throat. Things that can help are drinking a glass of water before bed, gargling with a mouthwash to cut the PG coating before bed, drinking water throughout the day, using hard candies and drinking liquids with honey liquid through the day to keep your mouth moist - especially if you are a new user.

An alternative for those who experience more throat dryness than normal is to change to a VG-based e-liquid, which normally solves the problem.

It could be the nic, pg, or just getting used to a different method of getting your nic fix. Try drawing into your mouth, open mouth part way, then inhale. Mixing a little more air might resolve your problem. Also drink tons of water. You need to stay hydrated. You can try dropping your nic level and go with a higher percentage of vg but I don't think that's the case. I had a bad soar throat also when I started out but it went away after about a week or so. I just had to get used to the vapor.

I have only experienced a sore throat from one of e-liquids I have used. They're all the same brand though. Initially I thought it was from the e-liquid but then a couple of days later I ended up getting sick. That was around three weeks ago(I was only sick for about 4 days) and about an hour ago I FINALLY decided to try that same e-liquid again and sure enough my throat started bothering me. I've been experimenting with how big or little of a hit I take and if I take small, light hits it doesn't seem to bother me as much. Makes me kind of sad because I like the taste of this e-liquid, just not the harshness of it.

Hiya, first post.

I quit the death sticks 2.5 weeks ago and I have some thoughts to add regarding PG vs VG..

The very first juice I tried was 70/30 PG/VG 24mg applewood tobacco and I noticed my teeth would be coated after a while..maybe half a day later I would notice this.. After a couple days ... free my gums were mildly sore and yes, the dry mouth and throat. Some mild canker sores even. It's hard to tell after only a couple weeks if any of this is my body readjusting to being analogue free or if the PG really is irritating, but as soon as I read somewhere that it is classified as a mild irritant, it made sense. However, my understanding is that cigarettes are known to "soothe" the gut and it would make sense to me that all parts of my throat and mouth that the smoke would reach are now feeling a bit "w.t.f." after 32 years of smoking.

I got some pure VG liquid from Craveejuice.com(organic even, whatever that means) and have been mixing it in with my nic juice and my mouth and throat feel much much better so I am inclined to beleive that PG is somewhat irritating. By the way, the blueberry lemonade is really strongly flavoured and a little of that goes a long way, added to nic juice, and it's delicious. A plug for a fellow Canuck company right there.

My 2 cents :p

My throat was getting soar and It was almost as though I couldn't taste anymore. My glands up by my jaws were feeling swolen as well. I'm not sure what the cause was but it was as though I was getting nic juice in my mouth. It got so bad I had to stop vaping. It went away so I know it was related to vaping. Most my juices are 50/50 PG/VP. Not sure if I was overloading the tank or just over vaping. It got so bad I started worrying about my health. Not sure where to go from here. But I sure don;t want to start smoking again.

I have no idea where I'm at
You didn't say how much you are vaping. Sometimes when I vape too much I can get that. I used to add vodka to get more TH. You need to take hits as described by cat, and drink more fluids. It can also be due to your system. What are you using? Some carts, like a CE-2 LR can do that because the coil is right at the top of the cart. The ce-3's had the coil on the bottom and are a much cooler vape because of it. What flavor? Some flavors are harsh. Mainly try and lower your VG and see. I DIY a 95%VG and have had no problems with feeding nor sore throat. I usually use a 35-36mg nic. and vape 4-5mls a day.

One last note: are you using a tip. Thow a drop tip on there to distance yourself from the coil more. If all else fails, bring up your nic and vape less.
