You could put it outside, in a pyrex dish - but if you do it needs to be well away from anything else.
I doubt it would explode - if it did melt down it would probably hiss loudly and let off a lot of smoke - and get very hot.
On the other hand - it might - so outside could be a good idea.

I don't know Kari. I don't know what time it is where you are, but when you can call the vendor you bought it from.
If it isn't getting hot that's a good sign.
You just want to keep it safe - that's just in case.

It still isn't dead. My vendor hasn't emailed me back. I'm about to go throw it in the dumpster just so I don't have to look at it anymore.

Don't put it in a dumpster that might cause a fire in the dumpster if something does happen. Other than that thought I have nothing for you as I have not had this experience myself. If you really want to kill it, if anyone can help with this suggestion whether it is bad or good, submerge it in water. That should kill it?

Mind you I am not recommending it, just an idea I had.
