My Views On High End E Liquid, So Far

This reminds me of when I drank. I'd have cheap-ish beer in the fridge and bottles of top shelf tequila on my desk/shelf.

I think it all comes down to taste/preference/budget.

That said, I am waiting on unflavored juice to show up to sample to see if I could do it as an ADV. If that is indeed the case, my good flavored stuff will be shelved/boxed and come out only when I am home/want to really enjoy good stuff. Cost of "good stuff" has not really been any kind of downer or reason to not buy it for me, thus far.

After spending the last couple weeks focusing on high price high profile E Liquids, I have come to the conclusion that the cost to enjoyment ratio does not equate to great tasting E Liquid. Using many different builds on mech mods, many different RDA's, Russians and different builds on the Russian, regular tank ego type setups, basically any kind of setup I could think of, and different ohm, different gauges, the fact is, the costly stuff just isn't that much better the lower cost non hyped juice. I spent money for many of the BIG NAME juices, not really worth the extra cost, some times the lower cost beating out the hyped stuff. Some of the hyped juices taste good, but they don't taste 4 or 5 times the cost good. Just my opinion, but I'm glad I at least tried them, now I can not wonder if I'm missing anything, I am comfortable I am not. A couple juices I'll let steep more, but even those, I don't see blowing my mind. Better to learn this now then later. I think it is time to consider DIY, I'm starting to think I can come up with stuff as good as I'm paying someone else to make.

EDIT: There was one E Liquid that stood out enough, and was different enough, and good enough to warrant a higher cost, that was, Mad Scientist-Swirly Pop, it is unique enough in it's flavor profile and is breaking enough new ground to warrant being singled out in my opinion as something worth paying extra for.

I have to agree. My experience with the majority of "top shelf" e-liquids that I've tried generally don't taste any better or use better flavorings then B&M house varieties. It's not to say they aren't good, many are. Just not enough to justify the price tag.

Taste is subjective, of course, but one of the few exceptions I've found is Space Jam. While I don't like all of them, their flavorings and blends seem to be on another level then most. Creative even.

When I started 9 months ago I was buying high priced, "premium" juice. It was the liquid the shop who I got my first setup was selling. It was really good. I found Vista Vapors who sells 17ml bottles for 4.99 and their juice was as good, maybe even a little better. I'm still really happy buying from them, their flavors are great and you can't beat their prices. I was in Minneapolis and decided to check out a few Vape shops and found this great shop. They take the time to figure out what PG/VG level works best for each flavor and their customer service is awesome. You can get a 15ml bottle for 9.99 and if you order on a Thursday you get 10% off your entire order. They don't have a flashy logo or bottle, but their juice rocks.

I'm starting to think that vape flavors are a lot like wine. I just heard about some wine studies that showed that basically all wine tasters are full of s. They couldn't tell white from red, because of food coloring, and there is a lot of confirmation bias that goes into expecting something expensive to be good.

On the other hand, starting to go cheap just to experiment- I ordered some Roxwell brand vapes from WeVapor last weekend- they were 2 bucks a 15mil bottle....I figured why not. What I got in the mail was a broken container, and the one vape that I tried was possibly the worst flavor that I've ever tasted. I think I'll throw the others out.

So I think there is a balance between the two, or at least that's the way my pallet is thinking.

Juices are mainly composed of PG and or VG with nicotine and added flavorings. I've ordered good juices, bad juices, cheap juices, and expensive juices over time, including some that tasted like dish soap or had a bitter flavor, no matter if you warmed it, aged it, steeped it, or just left it in the dark.

Some juices are just good every time you order them and some vary with the same vendor and the same label and aren't worth saving. Repeatability is an art that requires care, design, and precise mixing procedures.

I sometimes wonder how strict and accurate the lab processes are from vendor to vendor.

As already said .... its personal preference. I try to go by reviews (as most people do) when trying new things - and some of the ones that are recommended by many - tasted to me like "off bug spray" or "dirty socks" - or like the order I recieved todays... I taste nothing in 3 of the 5 - maybe a faint something ..... and its supposed to be pre-steeped.
So once again I am more and more convinced that MVB's is for me
I'm sure there are some really great high end choices out there - but I just can't afford to pay the prices with the chance of only to adding it to the "yuck" box that is already over flowing.

"Hi end eliquids" equates to nothing but an over-used phrase. Make a juice, have friends try it and then ask them to go brag about how wonderful it is <---great marketing techniques. Flavorings that are used can be bought by any of us...nothing special there...nic is sourced all the same...nothing special there....bottles can be found cheap any where you look...nothing special there either. I guess if you stick a $22 price tag on it then it must be good? I think not. I will continue with my diy'ing thank you.

Please make a castle long or grandmaster clone that tastes just as good. An Adam bomb mama's cookies or an R&D Trickz would be nice while you're at it. Then please post the recipes so you can save everyone a bunch of money and put those companies out of business.

And where can "anyone" buy Ahlusion's own natural extracts for example? Answer....they can't.

You beat me to it Rabernet. In my experience I'd tend to agree with the first quote in a huge majority of cases - but as a blanket statement it's simply not true anymore. I would give my right foot and more to have Ahlusion's extracts to diy with, for a start.

extracts by their very nature are natural.
when you remove all the impurities what you have left is pure extract which is just as natural as when it was
still in what it was extracted from.

what bakes my cookie is when a synthesized flavoring has the same molecular structure as a pure
natural extract but is different?

I'm not seeing what your point is?

Ahlusion's extracts are very unique in flavor and not something that just anyone can get. While I enjoy a handful of other vendors' juices, not even the ones I enjoy have the complexity and just pure clean taste that Ahlusion creates with their juices. That's not something that just "anyone" can buy and create themselves.

Something is different than what folks can get "off the shelf" for DIY. I haven't found a vendor yet that can replicate the depth and breadth of what Ahlusion CONSISTENTLY produces. YMMV.

"Our Ahlusion line of e-juice or e-liquid is made by us, in the U.S.A. using natural, and preferably USDA certified organic sourced ingredients."

i suspect that have a well thought out production protocol that is adhered to for each and every flavor. written procedures followed to the letter each and every time.

i suspect a lot of vendors are hand measuring on a need to sell basis, giving the bottle a good shake instead of a timed mixer and out the door.

I never said anything about cloning anyone's juice. Frankly put, no one has to charge what they do considering it costs them less than $3 to make and that includes the bottle. Go back and reread my statement.

Natural extracts = rotting matter in your lungs. No thank you.

I DIY and an interesting concept is to buy the flavor mixes from the e-juice makers.

Killer juice, (and others), offer this service. IMO, this is better than already mixed e-juices has you can mix to your taste and still enjoy your favorite flavors at a fraction of the cost.

As with expensive juices those descriptives can be appled to Killer Juice flavors: intricate, smooth, complex, unique, unaldulterated, natural, ....etc. ( as this is only a mostly subjective opinion).

The quality that is different and not too common is 'Affordable', ( and this is fact not an opinion).

Do what? Please cite.

Ah well, if you won't, that means more Ahlusion for me! :)

I diy and have no interest in vaping crap juice from ANY vendor who overcharges....including Ahlusion.
