Hi there, pretty new here but been reading around.

I have recently borrowed an e-cig from a work colleague, one of those "Eigarette" minis that seem to do the rounds for those looking for a cheap vape in the UK - looks like a real ciggy (an SU8 I believe is the model number).

Put honestly, the notion of vaping is perfect, but smoking this model I get a strong burn at the back of my throat.

I have been reading around and have a few questions before I leap in and buy my own.

I have been looking at the dse901 and the joye510 as possible first sticks. Which one would people recommend? The main problem with the one I borrowed is that the draw is very hot and unreliable.

This leads me to my second question. I believe there is a difference between VG and PG juice, and that VG can be cooler. Atm I smoke the borrowed ecig like a cigar to avoid the burn, but believe this may change with a change in liquid base.

Thanks for your patience with a total n00b,

Nick.

I own both the 901 and the joye 510. My experience is that the 901 gives more taste out of the liquids. Most prefer the joye 510 on here.
As for burning, using more vg should eliminate that, however you sacrifice a good bit of throat hit and flavor for it . The best solution for many, and most liquids are mixed with a mixture of both pg and vg. There are some suppliers of liquids that will mix it to your specifications too. Vg does produce a smoother vape and more vapor.
It really depends on the person, some cant tolerate vg and some cant handle pg.
start with small sample packs or samplers. You will quickly discover what works for you this way without spending a lot on large bottles too soon.

The strong burn as you call it, in the back of your throat, is what is called TH-throat hit and is caused by nicotine, is what makes you cough when the nicotine content is higher than what you are use to, is like being used to marlboro lights or belmont and getting a good drag out of a lucky strike, chesterfield or a cuban H Upmann, hence e-juice is usually available on three or more levels of nicotine content, the lower the content the less throat hit you'll experience, i always smoked marlb reds and started vaping 24-26 mg juice and that content has emulated the feel of a real marlb for me, this might not be the case for other people who smoked the same brand so, i recomend as someone else already said, get a few 5ml samples with different nicotine levels and flavors until you find what works best for you.

As for the drags being too hot, i'm not familiar with that ecig you speak of but in my experience with the 510, if your atomizer runs a bit dry or you hit it too often and too deep, it dries up a bit and starts to get hot, both the atomizer itself and the air/vapor you draw, that's could be why it feels so hot.

i would recommend the 901. i own both, and personally i use the 510, but i like he burning feeling. the 901 is a smooth hitting lil pv that produces a decent amount of vapor. nobody tells many people this, but you can get disposable ecigs to try. i know a few places that offer disposables in both models. i don't remember their names off the top of my head, but i will look if u are interested.

Actually, I would not have recommended a 510 if you are wanting less TH because 510s are known as heavy TH producers. Of course, most of us love that and use them for this very reason.

However, some, such as yourself prefer less TH and a smoother vape. The 901 does this and the 801 even better.

If you aren't happy with your 510 you can trade it out on that section of the forum for a smoother vape. They'll jump on it. ;)

I agree, Jerrydon, but he said he was looking into VG juices. PG itself will give TH from throat irritation, so a 510 with VG sounds like a good call to me. Then the TH will be only from nic, which I prefer. VG-only juices for me for this very reason. My vapes are quite smooth and silky, in general, with the 510 and VG juices.

But you are right, if it doesn't work, there are a whole bunch here that would gladly trade their penstyle or carto style for 510 gear.

OK, your point is well taken and I would agree.

Thanks all - I'm liking it here at this forum already. Everyone seems knowledgeable and friendly - a rarity :)

I found it strange that it was said it was purely the nicotine that was providing the irritation as I like to smoke the heavier analogs, and don't get the same irritation. I think the 510 and VG will be the way to go for now, but, as you say, I can always trade out. :)

Thanks once again - I will report back on my findings with the bits in the kit, and get some VG on order - any recommendations for a good UK supplier?

We're newbies too, with our first PV coming sometime in the next few days.

We went for the 510. My husband is really interested in the TH and, from what I've read, this one has it. I'm not so big on it, so... I might end up with something different. Or he might, or we may both love the 510. We also got a sampler pack of juice, so that we can try both PG and VG. I think that most of this boils down to personal preference, with a healthy dose of trial and error.

Well, everybody has an opinion on here.....lol. I buy enough supplies from totally wicked that I should own stock in the company, but they haven't sent me any. :)

Some have had problems there, but I love their stuff and their prices and never had a problem with shipping or anything else.

They are also UK based.

I actually am trying to get away from the throat hit but I like the flavor and the "feeling" or the pg I am finding. I tried 16mg nic level with 20% VG and have like no noticable TH on an automatic battery and an ok one with a Passthrough. Now using 24 nic level with 20% VG and finding the TH a little to much with the passthrough and good with the automatic battery. Sticking to 24mg nic level but dropping to 10% VG to see if that balances it all out for me.

Just adding my experience. This is all using a KR808d-1
