Name change for ECF

The connotation is here to stay. Smokers will smoke and vapers will vape and the government will find a way to tax both. Our non-smoking friends will wonder why we can't quit nicotine and never understand why we find it to be a comforting hobby. Whatever we call it, ANTZ will still fight the nicotine component because it LOOKS like smoking to them.

There are lots of interesting comments here, and I've enjoyed reading this thread.

When people who are old timers get out of patience with something being brought up again, and again:

We need to remember, the folks who come and read on the internet are not a captive audience, but rather a moving parade. I think it's always good to revisit subjects. Not everyone has read about them before.

It is refreshing to read a positive comment from an Ultra Member. Old timers that get frustrated should move on instead of raising their post count with insignificant and often belittling posts.

That seemed a bit belittling. If it wasn't posted to bump your post count, maybe you shouldn't assume the old timers are just trying to up their numbers. Those posts are significant to many members who remember what they're referring to.

I think this is the first time I've disagreed with what you have written DrMA.

But now you are saying you're concerned about the use of the word 'cigarette' as a component of the compound 'e-cig'!

No Sir. I myself am vaping on an e-cig. I think it's better to highlight the social engineering/manipulation of the ANTZ rather than to cave and try to avoid. Better to expose the manipulation rather than be timid I think.

I agree with this if vapers are willing to attack the junk science around combustible cigarettes. Some here recognize it as junk science, others treat it like 'scientific fact' and reference data of 'smoking kills' as if there is no debate to be had. Citing the exact same sources (to support their understanding) as those who persecute vaping. Plus, there are so many ex-smokers among us, many of whom can't hate on smoking enough, that it is an incredibly challenging position that we've put ourselves into.

Either get over your hatred of smoking, or because the two will forever be intertwined, especially if we refuse to separate them when we have the opportunity to do just that, then we are essentially responsible for the paradigm whereby vaping = smoking.

Though, I guess it will always be easy for us to scapegoat ANTZ as being wholly responsible for the connection, even while we truly know that we are at least partly responsible for staying stuck on the connection between the two.

It's exactly like smoking when we are trying to convert a smoker.
And nothing like smoking when we are talking to ANTZ.

We are the biggest collection of vapors on the internet. No other forum has that name. This is not just a name but a community of people. Anytime you search anything vaping related ECF is the first thing to pop up. The name is strong. Please don't change it.

Just me, I like the name.
When someone interested in e cigs that has no idea, information or experiance with ecigs other than what the mainstream media offers types " e cigarette " into their search engine one of the first things they see is this place.

The more new never vaped before people that come here for info/ guidance / opinions the more that will be better informed & more likley to be successful and then spread 'the benefits of vaping' word.
