Hard to believe that no one's put up a vid yet on YouTube about macerated tobacco extraction, but I didn't come up with anything either.

Not to worry, though. Most of us on this thread who do home-based extractions had little more than the most rudimentary instructions before starting, and I can tell you that I ignored much of it and simply adapted the simple instructions to fit what I had on hand. We're all just making it up as we go along. Some of what we do works, some doesn't, but we learn. After 47 extractions, I'm still experimenting. As I'm fond of saying, this isn't rocket science. There are no hard-and-fast rules, and common sense goes a long way.

On the extraction threads, some people who are considering maybe doing this ask all sorts of very specific questions, as if they're anxious about every little detail and scared to make a mistake. Sometimes I respond with "answers" from my personal experience, but most of the questions have no pat answers (i.e., "How much tobacco should I use?"). I always want to say: Don't worry. Read the threads, then jump in. Learn by doing. You'll know very quickly if home tobacco extraction is something you enjoy and have a knack for.

Read Scarf-ace's method (link below), and if a heat-assisted maceration is too daunting, read Johni's method (also linked below) for cold maceration (meaning room temperature with a long steep), which requires little more than patience and is very hard to screw up.

Johni's Easy Method for Cold Macerations

Thanks Bill,

As if i wasn't spending too much time on these threads, now two more threads to read !

I have about a 15 month inventory of liquid at my current vaping levels, and didn't plan to buy any more save the odd bottle or two reordering my favorites. So i have plenty of time to read up and then experiment with these methods while my inventory gets depleted. I think i will start with cold macerations. Seems a little less involved.

Coming soon from House of Liquid:

Possibly the most anticipated Liquid of the year and one of our finest liquid tobaccos is now available.

Made with our best authentic Cuban tobacco blend and a touch of exquisite organic coffee and chocolate -- Puros Dark is an all night and day tobacco that is not aggressive to coils and atomisers.

It took us nearly three months, over 200 samples, and a number of steeps to create the perfect balance. The result is an outstanding dry tobacco with hints of chocolate and coffee, multi-layers of aromas and a thick vapour that lingers in the mouth and air as near experience to a fine cigar.

The Finest eLiquid Brands Worldwide

Awwwwwwwe-some. I waaaaaaaant-some.

Let me know how that plan plays out for you several months from now. ;) I've had that plan before and, well, sometimes my actions turn out quite different from my plans. Buying freezed are very hard to stick to, especially when hanging out in areas of a forum where we talk about all the lovely juices out there, just begging to be tried.

Cracked open Bullseye Flake w/ Bourbon from Dustmight. I'm don't remember what this is, I'm sure Dust told me in a PM but if he did it's been deleted, so update me on this NET please Dust.

Hey Jerms, your flavor detective skills are spot on! Bullseye Flake is a Va/Per but with a very minimal amount of Perique. So little in fact I feel like the added Vanilla pretty much renders it out of the equation. I find this Bourbon to be very smooth, making it a great compliment to the tobacco. I evaporate the alcohol from the Bourbon and then add it to a specific amount of VG as the emulsifier for the tobacco maceration. The VG adds to the creaminess and contrasts the Virginia quite nicely. Getting the ratios right was a pretty labor intensive process so I'm glad you're enjoying it!

Thanks for the info! It's really playing mainly like a grassy and lightly creamy Virginia NET to me, with other notes popping in and out like vanilla and various spice. As a big fan of Virginia NETs, it's a very nice vape to me. Fairly potent tobacco flavor too.

I can vouch for that Jerms but in my favor it took a 50% off sale at GeJ. And Patriot.

NICE

I am also stocking up on Smooth Criminal. I am down to around 15 ml of the steeped supply, and like many have learned that means ORDER MORE IMMEDIATELY.

I am passing on my beloved Maple Burley. If they are phasing it out I shall not stock up, but rather shun it and allow it to fade unfettered into the sunset. Sorry, but I am a stubborn son of a ...

Time to give Maple Wild Wood a try. I am trying REALLY hard not to have too high of expectations based on Caramel WIld Wood...but it is hard not to.

I always do that to myself, high expectations. Backwoods Brew Maple Tobacco ain't doing it for me AT ALL.

I picked up American Blend #3 and Maple Wild Wood during the XPress sale. I'm assuming Maple WW uses the same maple sugar flavoring used in Maple Burley. Part of the greatness of MB though is how it matches with the potent burley tobacco, so I'm expecting almost as great, but still great.

I wish they had Vanilla WW stocked up at 12mg nic or I would have picked that up too. I'll get it from the regular line after my coupon code comes in.

Oh yeah, BJ, I also got Banana Cream Pie from the XPress line; if I don't love it it's yours  :p
