I'm really enjoying the Drew Estates 7th Ave that MikeNice had recommended earlier. Sutliff Private Stock Charlemagne is a nice one that is a little lighter than 7th but still a solid tobacco. The lightest one I've got is Centurion ( in MVJ's own line ) but it is pretty light in an analog sort of way... but still definitely a pipe and would work well for an ADV.

I've got a few more coming in... should have been here today or tomorrow probably but there was a hold up... Dan broke his ankle... so I won't see it until Mon-Tues.

Try dabbling in the Drew Estate line. Harvest on Hudson is a good one. I haven't pulled it out in a week or so. As it was, at a little over a month, the flavors and tobacco entwined to form a good solid flavor. Grand Central has a more masculine feel than 7th Avenue. I have the rest of the line, but haven't tried it yet.

Should I be worried about the Fruits and Vanilla call outs in most of the Drew Estate line?

If the 7th Ave gives any clue... probably not it's the flavors of the casing's and not added to it like a hybrid or whatever from what I can tell. On 7th, I can definitely taste the vanilla but tobacco is in front of it... sort of a french vanilla ... but I haven't found the apricot in it yet.

How do you like the Dunhill Early Morning Pipe Tobacco and the Borkum Riff Black Cavendish Pipe Tobacco? I just order both from Diane.

Loved Dunhill Early Morning. It's a beautifully mild English pipe tobacco. Mild enough that you can actually run it all day, without the usual in-your-face English experience. I just ran a 2ml taste test of it in the Kayfun and loved it. I put away the rest of it for a mid-long steep around 2 months ago.

I don't remember the Borkum Riff and not sure if I've tried it yet.

I'm going to start putting the previous batch I got from Diane into a daily rotation soon and will definitely provide feedback here.

I probably should describe my preferences some since I don't post often simply because I get a juice and stick with it so much of the time... I don't always get around to many because of it.

I've enjoyed all pipe tobacco's that are commonly used with the one exception of Latakia that I've mentioned before. I lean towards the darker to medium flavors more... with a full to medium body. Virginia, while ok for me by itself/themselves, I prefer as a condiment to add high notes but not a lot of it. Perique... I do enjoy by itself, at least the ones I've had but also prefer it more as a condiment although I don't mind them using it heavily as such. Burley, Black Cav ( unlike Jerms ), other cavendish's, Turkish and Orientals are among my favorites as primary tobacco's in blends.

I do enjoy vanilla's in the vapes... although at the same time, my tongue often finds them neutral in flavor and only adding a creamyness ( not so with the 7th Ave, I do taste it but it's a darker flavored one ). I've enjoyed some of the fruit flavors I've found in them if they don't overwhelm the tobacco and blend with them in the background. I've had a real cherry pipe long ago that I really enjoyed... so far none of the vapes I've tried with cherry in them worked the same yet, there is something wrong or they are candy like instead. Likewise for the one or two apple pipes I've vaped... and in the real thing I enjoyed it.

I also enjoy what I'll call a natural sweetness in a pipe tobacco... but if it comes off as sugary, then not so much. I don't recall having a tobacco that I'd call dry, as several have mentioned... so I'll withhold comment on that.

I haven't looked hard for a cigar to enjoy but of the several I've tried... they aren't for me so far. In fact, a MVJ that isn't released yet called Dunhill Royal Yacht Pipe... a mostly Virginia blend... actually comes off to me as having a cigar-ish element to it that I'm having an issue adjusting too. Odd since it doesn't really have any cigar elements I'm aware of.

Cool, I was hoping that the Dunhill would be mellow enough for an ADV. I'll be looking forward to reviews on the rest.

Yeah, that Louisiana Red is a nice change-up. I'm hoping to trade for some RBFS liquids after so many thumbs up comments from folks on this thread. I just got a DNA 30 today and i'm stoked to go sub ohm with a few RBA's I haven't tried yet. I've got a Veritas, Magma and Origen that have been sitting since I got them. An Plume Veil is on it's way to me also. So I've got some coils to build.

I got some toys coming too, GP Paps mech clone and Mephisto dripper from 101vape, only $15 each. May pick up the Origen 2, Infinite Magma, and Stingray from 101 next week.

Vaping Nomad tonight, EtherVapes Turkish and Virginia blend. Very nice vape, really enjoying it. Going to hit the NETs hard this weekend since I've mainly been vaping teas in my KFL having not been at home much during the week. Got a couple RBFS to dig into! Along with this Nomad, OT#1, GJ4, and some homebrews, my weekend NET vaping is all planned out.

I can vouch for the Infinite Magma clone... I got mine just the other day and it has very nice smooth threads and machining on it. In fact, I've now moved my IGO-L over to second position on a Vamo v2... :D

Leakage is pretty slight... ie the e-juice condensates on top of where the air hole comes up under the coil and a little seeps down through the air hole. I've seen some complaints about the air hole adjustment ring.. it moves when you loosen the top cap, but I find it easy to just place my thumb on it to keep that from happening. It's worth mentioning it, but to complain is just being nit picky for basically nothing. It is about 15mm taller than the IGO-L but I personally don't find it awkward or heavy on the Vamo v5 I use.

I really like how they've setup the single/dual coil and air flow adjustment. Rebuilding is dead simple, much like on the IGO-L. I haven't even used the e-juice capacity it's capable of yet... but it's certainly a plus. I actually had to dial back the wattage a bit because the flavor was that much stronger and I was starting to get a nic buzz quicker than normal. I had been considering going to a larger gauge wire with more wraps... I'm not sure I will now ( although I have to try it out still ).

Quality wise... you like one brand more vs the other.

I'll look up the HCigar one later... I hadn't seen those yet.

HCigar is beautiful. I don't have the Infinite ones in hand yet. They're waiting for me at the office. I was away in Georgia this last week. A lot of good reviews on the Infonite ones though!

I totally get what Bill is talking about with Vermillion, and I used to get the same thing from Darthvapers (they said the same thing as VR, except they said they made their own), but what I didn't get from either of them, like I get from M&P or Moondrop, is that strange green taste (and sometimes green residue). To me that is the one thing that distinguishes what DV used, and what VR uses, from TA.

Way back when (2011), when VermillionRiver started out as an online juice vendor, I vaped a lot of their Kentucky Blend and Kentucky Vanilla. Those two were staples of my daily liquids for about a year. Along the way, I tried other VR spin-offs---Kentucky Maplewood, Blend No. 7, KY4, and KMaxx, but none of those grabbed me the way the first two had. After a year, though, all the VermillionRiver tobaccos were kicked off my bandwagon, sidelined by other, more authentic NETs from GeJ, Ahl, MOV, QnJ, etc.

With regard to TA in retail juices, I cut my teeth on Mom&PopVaporShop and Moondrop. M&P were especially bold in their use of TA, right down to the slight greenish-yellow tint that's such a dead giveaway about the liberal use of "raw" or less-diluted TA (since that green-yellow residue has an oily look and feel). VermillionRiver tobaccos share some of that characteristic TA taste, but---as Mr.M notes---none of the telltale oily residue. My speculation was that, compared to M&P or Moondrop, VermillionRiver might have used less TA along with a higher percentage of synthetic tobacco flavorings, but perhaps steam distillation and further dilution of TA play a role as well.

To me, VermillionRiver tobacco eliquids are almost all hybrids. Unlike many natural tobacco retail vendors, VR seems to have no straight tobaccos in their line-up. Classic Blend is the closest to a straight-up tobacco, but even that one has some hybrid resonance. That's not a criticism, by the way, just a neutral perception, since it boils down to a business decision on the part of the vendor about which segment of the market to go after.

I make the same decision every time I order tobacco for home extraction---what shall I buy? aromatic? non-aromatic? I don't find "pure" tobacco to be inherently tastier or more satisfying than tobacco blends that are infused with other flavors. If, on any given day, I have a hankering for one type, the other type won't please me. When I want a nice blend, pure tobacco is almost off-putting, and, conversely, when I long for the taste of true tobacco, blended hybrids taste like candy or adulterated flavors. Happily, both types are available in a seemingly unending parade of wonderful varieties.
