Boomer, I just fired up your Cornell and Diehl Pennington Gap as I was very curious about this flavor. Any blend described as "all-American with a southern accent" is on my list to try! This stuff is delicious! :thumb: Kentucky Burley, black cavendish, Perique and bourbon make this blend a winner. Most blends topped with booze have little more than a slight booze aroma. The bourbon in this one almost violates my sobriety but it melds well with the tobaccos for a very interesting flavor. Running it in a Phoenix v5, dual micros at .6 Ω on a mech mod.

That one does sound good.

Speaking of booze, years ago I gave up on brown liquor (usually with water) because it caused the roof of my mouth to become swollen, raw, and uncomfortable. I'm getting the same thing from NETs. I suspect the tannin but don't know for sure. Bummer

It usually works just the opposite for me. When I taste a fresh juice I usually find it light on flavor then marvel at how it blooms later. I just tried clnire's Lane Very Cherry which was initially not rich with cherry flavor but now it's CHERRY! And a decent cherry at that, not candy.

I hope the Virginia Spice comes around for you.
I tried it again the other day and I must agree. I need to put together samples from my last batch, Sutliff Peach Pie and Sutliff Lord Nelson. The Peach is coming in nicely; a subtle peach (so far), not sweet just a pleasant (to me) hint of peach. Now the Lord Nelson? I think you guys will like this one. On my phone ( long day of travel and problems) so I don't have the description handy, but Latakia, burley, oriental and virginia? My first taste was Whoa! That Latakia hits hard. But the more I vape it it is really growing on me. Other than those I have extracted the Burley Kake and Louisiana Red, so nothing new. LR is GOOD!!!! :) On the road for 2 weeks then I will work on getting some samples out. Life has been crazy the last few weeks.

May be tannins Paul, I don't know, but occasionally my buds and mouth start to feel a little abused also. I switch to unflavored nic base at 80 VG for a day and it lets things get back to normal. The best part is how good NETs taste after running unflavored for a while!

I've been doing unflavored for two days, no reaction, and came home to some PS 80, got the reaction. I've got some VG American Spirit, light steep, light mix that I'll try in a day or two.

Ha ha! Our aromatic extractor has come over to the dark side and is digging an English blend! Next you'll be extracting some Dark Fired Kentucky blend and telling us how good it is!

Things have been pretty crazy here also. Hope it slows down a little for both of us.

PS Your Peach Pie sounds delicious!

It also seems to help when I brush my tongue to remove the ick and use a strong moutwash. I also drink gallons of water which keeps my day interesting given a pea sized bladder and aging prostate!

I finally have some extracts from MVJ...

Ashton - Rainy Day
Borkum Riff - Original
Borkum Riff - Bourbon Whiskey
Borkum Riff - Cherry Liqueur
Borkum Riff - Cherry Cavendish
Borkum Riff - Black Cavendish

I think I've got it figured out how to mix etc... but I'm not certain...

So.... a quick question for the DIY'rs...

If the flavoring is in PG... and say the amount you're going to use is 20% flavoring. You want to have it end up being a 30PG/70VG mix when done... does that mean you'd want to use a base that is 10PG/90VG then ?

I'm leaving out the NIC portion just to make it simpler... but if the above is correct, then I've got the NIC percentages figured also

Your math is right rdsok but why make a 10/90 base? I just mix ingredients individually (extract + nic + PG + VG). Figure your extract as all PG.

This was just to get my toe's wet... so I was going to get a pre-mixed nic base this time around. If I end up doing more... I'll buy a larger quantity of PG, VG separate and get some 100mg NIC base but I didn't want to spend a lot right off the bat.

If you use ml instead of % you get 7ml vg, 1ml pg, 2 ml flavor in pg. If your nic is 60mg in pg and you want 6mg mix, you are in luck.

Hmm... glad you mentioned that... I was thinking of getting the NIC in VG and now I'll rethink it... I actually was going to shoot for 6mg in the end.

I understand. I buy 100 mg nic and blend it to 60 mg, all PG and my extracts are all PG. I make my juice 12 mg so 20% extract, 20% 60 mg nic, and then fill with VG for a 40 PG/60 VG mix. VG is a pain to syringe so I avoid doing it and simple is almost always better.

After spending most of the day with American Blend no. 3, I've switched to the other Ahl tobacco I've released from storage, Maple Wild Wood. If my memory is correct, it started out light in color but now is fairly dark.

I liked it a lot fresh, and it's still great. The flavors have expanded a bit and gotten deeper. The maple is a cross between maple sugar and maple syrup, and the WW tobacco sings.

Been mainly vaping macerations for a bit now, so it's a very pleasant change of pace to spend a day with these alternative tobaccos. It's like taking a break from rock, blues, and punk to spend a day spinning some quirky indie records.

I drink so much water I have to ADD salt to my diet or my serum sodium gets too low. I am just a little woman and it just goes through. Remember, you just rent coffee, water and beer... ;)

I have learned that with MVJ's Davidof Flake Medallions I have to change my expectations. If I expect a Va/Per with a hint of unflavored black Cavendish, I get disappointed. If I expect a spicy Cavendish that plays like a lightly flavored "sweet" aromatic, it isn't so bad. The Va gives it a sweet high note that plays like an aromatic, kinda. It really isn't a bad vape once you understand what to expect. It just doesn't have as much depth as one would expect and lacks the luxurious flavor of some dedicated Va/Per blends.

A well constructed juice that is 3 out of 5 for me.

I found much the same with all of the Davidoff samples that I received from Diane. They were Ok, but not one of them will be a reorder for me. There's much better choices in her arsenal of Pipe tobaccos.
