I have a question referring extractions:

Are extracts ethereal oils ? Why is it not possible to extract tobacco flavour oils only with water ? Perhaps i am stupid but i dont understand this.

It can be done using distilled water as long as you have a method create a vacuum in the container, Mold/ fermentation may occur when any part of your equipment isn't sterile, or air is introduced to the mixture.

Fermenting vegetables ie Kim chi, cabbage is shredded/cut, salted and packed with water to the top whole cabbage leaves are added on top, and virtually all air is compressed out before sealing the jar.

Water extraction should work. But mold will be a constant problem. Ethanol and PG keep the mold out. Water invites it in.

As I've previously posted, in lieu of water, I use Potato Vodka as my steep medium, once the extraction is completed, in 60-90 days, I evaporate the alcohol ~70-80% using low heat, 130-140F, then add a 50/50 mix of PG/VG as a preservative... 50 ml of NET extract will have ~25ml of the PG/VG added, absolutely no moldy extracts have resulted, whereas 1 of ~10 Distilled Water extracts spoiled, and why I made the switch to Potato Vodka.

If water works i could do a destillation or not ?

Bro, I have a suggestion: Stop this crazy chase of the perfect homemade extract, go back to building Porsches, or whatever high-end, high-quality thing you do, send it to me and I'll sell it and send you back the equivalent in NETs. It's called outsourcing, opportunity cost and a global economy.

Outsourcing, hihihi

I have a new idea. I am thinking about soxhlet extraction with ethanol or petrolether. This could be very interesting. In a soxhlet you can make several extractions one after the other and you could have a very reduced extract at the end. I think, i must try this..

Have someone tried this ?

Some guy I met at a vape expo out here in arizona did this to make coffee extract and said it worked well - one thing I was considering was a butane extraction of the tobacco to get at the volatiles that ethanol wouldn't play well with - maybe do the same tobacco twice and then at the end (obviously once the butane and ethanol have been removed) mix them back together?

Can't let this thread die....

Been vaping some of net llc's 'eclipse'. Cigar mixed with smoked Latakia...well the cigar it was extarcted from contained Latakia.

Fantastic stuff, as it says on the site - body of a cigar with that added Latakia taste. Goes really well with any alcohol.

Also digging the ruins right now.

Topic for discussion, what coil material, id, method etc do people prefer for nets. What rda's and rta's do you recommend.?

I'm loving the eleaf lemo drops with 3 or 3.5 mm id, spaced, kanthal. Get a tank or more before rewicking.

Snapdragon clone and kayfun lite (converted to dripper) work nicely for drippjng in the evening. Similar builds to the lemo drops.

count me in too!
*raises hand* Count me in...
I love that Latakia extracts so well and takes center stage in a good vape.

FWIW, this is the Latakia blend I used for my last batch. Smooth, nice spice, just a little sweetness. Loving it.

What blend are you using?

Thanks for the link!
I actually have no idea what I've used in the past, A pipe-packin' buddy of mine gave me a fistful a few years back when I was still lighting up.
I used that up some time ago after switching to vaping using a basic PG cold maceration. It was far more flavorful than the Black Cavendish I used to smoke.
Not much sweetness to be noticed in the vape, but had a mellow, rich smokiness. Mild/light pepper... great vape!

Anyone for strait Latakia? Price of this tobacco is going higher and higher because of ISIL d**ches.

Actually, I like it best with some added Virginia. Just enough to take the edge off.

BITD I constantly had a pipeful of "Midnite" by Peretti Tobacconist in Boston. Straight Latakia soaked in Vanilla. Mmmmnnnn.....
