The best analog I ever had in my brief smoking stints over the last 25 years was the filterless Turkish Special. It was oval shaped, and just about as smooth as an analog could get. Any NET that is a Turkish (or Turkish-ish) extract always ends up in my shopping cart.

Anybody else ever try these in your pre-vaping days?

Noooo, but where can I find this elusive creature? Purely for extraction purposes, of course (ok, maybe one burned analog-style just to see what it's all about).

I might have tried them during the first two decades of my 40-year addiction to cigarettes---back in the 70s and 80s. I tried lots of high-quality manufactured cigarettes and RYO tobaccos in those days. I don't recall those specifically, but English Ovals come to mind. My favorite was Three Castles, a fine shag rolling tobacco imported from Britain that was the pick of the Virginia crop and as close to unprocessed/unadulterated as you could get. It even tasted good. By the time the 90s rolled around, I was reduced to a hopeless addict with a 2+ pack-a-day habit and lungs that couldn't handle unfiltered or "full-flavored" cigs. Add limited economic resources to that picture, and I ended up smoking the cheapest crappy ultra-light cigs I could find.

Ironic that vaping has not only cleared up my lungs (according to my breathing and my doctor) and helped to wean me off my self-medication drug of choice (nicotine), but it's also reinvigorated my interest in fine tobacco through home extraction. Who'd a thunk that I would transform myself from a social pariah who hacked and coughed all the time into a healthier connoisseur with an appreciation for tobacco as an art form?

Smoking for me was akin to being trapped in a passionate but dysfunctional love affair with someone you lusted after but didn't like at all who was just incidentally trying to make you miserable if not kill you outright. Vaping, on the other hand, is all pleasure, like a lovely friendship with a wonderful person who treats you very well, with affection and respect.

She's an import, so as far as I know, is not sold in the US, but I do (strangely enough) see them on websites, for ridiculous prices, of course.

Like here.

I had previously had Vurley and I just don't care for A+ Burley base (although it wasn't a TH issue). A+ and I had a discussion and I was informed that the vanillas (and tobacco bases?-that's another story) used are different and we touched on TH. As TH is a major issue for me, I ordered Vechio and VWW with the specific intent of comparison. This intent was stated in the comments when I ordered. I'd be very disappointed if A+ made a mixing mistake. I guess it is possible, but A+ isn't known as a sloppy vendor.
I always order juice at 12mg and at high VG and it has been my experience that between vendors and within vendors TH can vary greatly depending on flavoring.
I appreciate your view that the nic concentrates used can have different TH kicks, but if, as you say TH is solely a result of nic, is it your contention that some nic concentrate vendors are labeling a concentrate as 6mg when it actually contains 14mg? It seems more likely to me that it is some difference in the carrier used than in the nic level.

Although on the fence, I like it way better than VB. :) Which reminds me, I gotta take the car in for an oil change.

Edit: wrote PG and meant VG--corrected.

I say TH is solely a result of nicotine because 0 nic juice has zero TH, every time. Doesn't matter what flavoring is used or the PG/VG level, if it's ordered without nic it won't have the kick. Also, going higher in nic with the same juice will increase the TH every time.
Sometimes people report that a juice has less TH, but that perception isn't as concrete as it depends on the person. Like with your VWW example, while it may provide less TH for you, I haven't read anyone else say that VWW is lacking in TH.

I agree that Ahl isn't a sloppy vendor, but the juices are mixed by employees, some new and some experienced. It's not unheard of even the best vendors making the occasional mixing mistake.

Oh yeah, forgot to answer this part.

No, not saying that at all, I'm sure most the concetrates are extremely accurate. I am under the impression that different brands have different flavor and different TH though. I may be wrong in that, I haven't read much about the DIY side, but it seems I've heard that the level of processing and the quality of the nic results in how flavorless and how smooth a nic base is. I know Wizard Labs offers a nic called 'ice' that is smoother with less TH than the normal nic they sell.

If I'm my info is wrong (happens on a regular basis), one of the DIY guys can feel free to correct me.

Lol, not wrong, but a little silly.

Are you giving the ones you have the big steep or just haven't gotten around to them yet? I'm curious what you think of them.

They are next in my rotation. Just gotta get done with the juices currently in my rotation. Yesteryear, Maple Eh, Tribeca and Gaia.

Once those bottles get done, I'll start with the MVJ stock.

Should be around a week or so.

Speaking of Turkish, I revisited the Sun Cured Turkish last night that I recently received from NETcom. After a couple night clearo-steep and some natural thickening from vaping it down in the clearo, I started to recognize some if the familiar SCT notes I remember from previous bottles. I'm hoping this bottle just needs to steep a bit. I'm putting it away for at least a month-long nap. Hopefully, it will darken and richen with age.

On a better note, the recently received bottle of Organic Spirit with extra extract that I sampled this morning was just as rich and tasty as ever and put a smile on my face before I left for work.

I do the same, try to finish up juices before adding new one's to the rotation.

If your like me, "around a week or so" means anything from a week to a few months lol. My estimation skills on when I'll get around to a juice could use some work.

I'm guessing (and hoping for your sake) that the Turkish will come around to how it was before after some steeping time.

Yup, I'm working on batches that were ordered around Feb and March of this year. The Yesteryear is from October of last year. I may have a bottle or two that I'm saving in long steep mode (6 months plus) that I'll get back to in the future, but MVJ is definitely going live next. It'll probably be 2 or 3 bottles of MVJ, along with Huntsman and/or Gaia.

This is beautiful. It should be inscribed upon the plaque beneath the 10 foot bronze statue of Bill welcoming one to the RY4 wing of the World Vaping Museum.

Big Juicy, have you tried Hey Jack from MOV? Just thinking about a replacement for your Maple Burley.

I have and while it is fine, it bores me. I have now tried all the MOV juices. I respect them a great deal, and a couple i really like, but not sure any are reorders. I probably should review them here soon.

I accidentally grabbed a friend's MVP because it looks just like mine. He even had a blue Kanger T3D on top. I started to take a nice big draw of my Brazilia and got a throat full of 24mg Cream of Mushroom Soup flavored juice. I couldn't tell if my throat or stomach was going to come out first. Now my Brazilia has a faint taste of mushroom soup. I can't get the taste out of my mouth.

Gargle with Devil Dog! Rinse and repeat as necessary.

I hate to belabor this, but as I'm stocking up to start DIYing again, I need to buy more unflavored nic juice and I'm told my prior source is no longer carried. As I have TH issues, I want to understand TH control. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you are saying.

I'm sure most the concetrates are extremely accurate. I am under the impression that different brands have different flavor and different TH though.

So even if the nic liquid of two different vendors is identical, they can still have a different TH? What is the cause for this difference in TH between vendor nic liquids, if not nicotine content, is it a difference in the nic extraction process? If so, do you (or anyone else here) know which processes(es) result in a greater, or for my interests a lower TH?

Thanks.

Are you sure it wasn't Perique?

Seriously, gargle with a menthol NET.
