Speaking of Vapingwatch I notice they have started to sell RBFS (and Mad Murdock for that matter) in 15 ml bottles. Perfect for those who want to tip a toe rather than plunge right in.

Awesome! Very glad VW made that decision. I've said it before.. 30ml is B&M size for when you can sample before you buy. Internet vendors need smaller bottles for first time orders. 15ml is perfect.

Thanks for the info. That's much lower resistance than I'm going for, you must be using a wide open airflow. Couple days ago I set it up Faceless style; did dual 28ga Kanthal minis of 8 wraps each at 0.63 ohms, with airflow mostly closed off. I had mixed results. Too much TH, so will add a couple wraps for my next duals.

Now though I'm going to try a single coil vertical macro spring. I haven't wrapped a macro spring since discovering compact micros, so it's been a long time. I'm expecting my results to be... Mann, you crazy with your macro springs. :p

Man oh Man (oh Mann!), the Wacky World of Coil Wrapping has left me behind sitting in a cloud of dust. About as sophisticated as I've ever gotten are simple 28ga single microcoils from 1-1.5 ohms. Those must be considered by you Coil Magicians as the equivalent of Model T's these days, or perhaps akin to that first generation of huge, clunky, brick-like cell phones from back in the mid-1980s. I don't know whether you guys are fearless, intrepid geniuses or just crazy as hell. LOL.

I'm spending some more time with MFT's Groovy Blue today. I'm finding that half of myissue with this juice comes from running it too low. Once the power get up to 8 watts on my MVP it starts coming together for me. At 8 watts it comes out as a nice smoky cognac with a hint of berry underneath. It doesn't have that alcoholic burn or heat on the exhale that some flavored cigars get. (In my opinion that is a good thing.)

I would say it comes across as a cross of cognac and whiskey with the bits of honey and vanilla peeking through. The tobacco isn't super present, but it lends to the dark almost whiskey like atmosphere of the cognac blend. IF you're looking for a cigar taste with a hint of topping, this isn't the vape you are looking for. If you're looking for a good flavor that uses tobacco to add a nice body and atmosphere, you are in the right neighborhood.

Bill, the only reason I'm experimenting with this craziness is the Veritas kind of requires it lol. If I had my druthers I would slap in a single horizontal, 1 ohm micro and call it a day; but this dripper don't play like that.

I've done some experimenting with alternate builds, but not much since I found my holy grail early on of the 28ga single micro at 1ohm that you described. Honestly, the more complex stuff that I've tried doesn't surpass the simple perfection of that build. You and I vape pretty much the same rebuildables, the tiny drippers with the tight draw, an area I think the simple micro remains king. The crazy builds are more for open draws, unique rebuildables, and cloud chasing.

I think for guys like you and I that want the best flavor possible in a device that matches our vaping style, complex builds usually aren't better, they're just more complex.

i have experimented a lot, with all kinds of coils. the simple tensioned micro coil is probably the most efficient build, electonically. fast heat up, consistent, even heat across the coil. i tend to vape at 9-10 watts though. i generally use a 10 wrap 29g kanthal, 2.0 mm at 1.9 to 2.0 ohms on my pt's and a 11wrap 28g kanthal, 1.6 mm at 1.4 to 1.5 ohms on my kay/tai's. don't have too much experience with drippers. i have a trident and a patriot clone that i use only for initial tasting.

an evenly spaced non contact coil probably works better with NET's though. definitely longer vape time on the dirtier nets, a lot longer based on my short amount of time experimenting !

FWIW I build my own DNA30 mods, have helped modders design attys, and my most obscene coil setup is a dual coil 28g microcoil at 0.6 ohms on a v2 Origen.

If that makes me Henry Ford, I'll settle for being an old, eccentric rich guy with boring coil setups.

Ya.. I built one awhile back and can get at least 2 full KFL tanks out of a wick...

As much as I'd love to say I am fantasising about other things, right now I am fantasising about filling my Aspire Mini with Pirates Drunken Sweet Tooth.

Roger that, Anthony. Dagwood.. went into my Mini first because I am preparing an extended journey in RBFS-land. :)

And don't worry about post count. I post far less than I used to (darn that Real Life Getting In The Way thing), but I read everything. :)

Blargh! 32ga not 28.. man, oh man..I looked at the wrong reel 'o Kanthal last night.

Single coil can go past 2 ohms, parallel or dual single comes in between 1.5 and 1.7 ohms.

Please accept my apologies, Jerms. :(

Hello fellow NET aficionados,

It's nice to see this thread live and well.I was buried under a long project and neglected my NET stuff. I survived mainly on Sahara Blend for months. I even neglected my own extracts. I have one ASO PG maceration here going on 3+ months! I'm not sure what I'll do with it...

By the way, I had 1.5-2 month steeped Sahara Blend and the tobacco flavor was coming out nicely.

I had filtered and bottled ASO extracts from January and, finally I was able to mix that into juice. It turned out to be full bodied and very flavorful after a 5 day steep.

From your discussion here, I read about the new induction vaporizer Evoke. There are still some slots lefts to buy it at $99.The regular price is set at $249. The thing is the shipping is forcasted to be in 7-8 months. From what I understand, there is no wick+coil combo but just an alloy mesh which heats up the e-liquids. The mesh is supposed to heat up uniformly by induction. I still think it'll need frequent cleaning for NETs, but if it even cuts down cleaning by a factor of two, it might still be worth it. The unknown factor is the taste though... Has anyone signed up for it?

Cheers.

I'm nowhere near RiP Trippers level of madness coilbuild-wise and by no means a cloud chaser.
I mis-stated wire gauge last night - should have been 32ga. I corrected my post.

32ga is harder to work with (thinner, more fiddly), but anything below 1 ohm is not where I want to be. 32ga. parallel, dual, or single
gets me well into the comfort zone of regulated (DNA20, 30 and Kick) mods.

Again, apologies for the error on my part.

Ahhh, well, that's a totally different situation lol. No apologies necessary.

I have a large role of 31ga from back when my VAMO was my main jam. Haven't used it straight up in a long time, but making a simple coil out of triple twisted gets me as happy as 28ga. I may try it untwisted for dual coils on the Veritas. I have a feeling I'm going to do a lot of experimenting before I tame that beast.

Hey Jerms, your flavor detective skills are spot on! Bullseye Flake is a Va/Per but with a very minimal amount of Perique. So little in fact I feel like the added Vanilla pretty much renders it out of the equation. I find this Bourbon to be very smooth, making it a great compliment to the tobacco. I evaporate the alcohol from the Bourbon and then add it to a specific amount of VG as the emulsifier for the tobacco maceration. The VG adds to the creaminess and contrasts the Virginia quite nicely. Getting the ratios right was a pretty labor intensive process so I'm glad you're enjoying it!

Don't forget the Black Cavendish in that one...the VA/Per is wrapped around a core of Black Cav. I made an extract of this one myself, and I find mine to be pretty Cav-intensive. The Bourbon, I bet, adds a nice element to it...

I would like to give cinire a well done and a welcome to the home extractors little cadre on this thread. I've been vaping some of her extracts from a trade and all were well made. I'm loving H&H's Grandma's Kitchen a nutty Burley and vanilla toasted Cavendish..All were tasty vapes but that one is going into my rotation. Excellent cinire and I hope to try more of your brews in the future.

Edit : five hours later........

So I got another three extracts in the mail. Wow, telepathy you think? Thanks cinire.

Sutcliff Vanilla Royale and Dulce de Leche.

Well, instead of totally rebuilding my Veritas I decided to clip off and remove one of the duals and remove a wrap from the remaining one for a 1.06 ohm single mini. Messing around also changed the compact coil to a spring, so I'm close enough to my original plan of a macro spring; I have a mini spring.

Without the duals it's closer to what I'm used to vaping. I would like to trade some of the TH for a little more vapor, but no matter how I place my coil it gives a little more thump than I want. Vapor and flavor isn't up to my Atomic yet, back to rebuilding it.

I got my swap package from clnire in the mail today. One of the four bottles leaked, but not much, so all is well. She's either gotten my grab-bag package to her, or she will soon. Between my own homemade extracts and those of my home extractor friends, I have enough extract to open a B&M store or make juice for an army, neither of which are going to happen. LOL.

Got your package today Bill! Christmas in July! One leaked? Dang, I tried so hard to make sure everything was secure. Mixing day tomorrow! Need to check out boomer's; they should be ready to taste.... :)

Not to worry. No matter how hard we screw the caps onto the bottles, something about travel through the mails causes (enables?) the caps to unscrew themselves. For a while, I wrapped all my package bottles in in bubble wrap, but now I just put them in sealable baggies. Some people tape the caps to the bottles (Boomer does that with some kind of stretchy tape I never knew existed). These days, it's good enough for me if the packages I send arrive at their destinations at all. LOL.

[Request to all my home extract swap friends: Put your name on your bottle labels, please! I can't keep all your extracts straight without a scorecard.]
