Not to worry. No matter how hard we screw the caps onto the bottles, something about travel through the mails causes (enables?) the caps to unscrew themselves. For a while, I wrapped all my bottles in sharing packages in bubble wrap, but now I just put them in sealable baggies. Some people tape the caps to the bottles, but that's too much trouble. It's good enough for me if the packages I send arrive at their destinations at all. LOL.

Anyway, the Lane RLP-8 leaked only a little, about 1/2 ml.

No harm, no foul.

I hear ya about packages getting to their destination, much less in one piece! But any leaks makes for a messy package.....

That day has come. Yep, that day. The day I decided I am strictly and absolutely a vaper only.

I had the bright idea to go out and buy a cigar to celebrate my upcoming birthday. I bought a Nub Cameroon 460 Tubo. I was so exited to get home and light that bad boy up. I was feeling like a kid at Christmas. Yeah, the expectations did not meet reality. I started puffing and thought, this tastes pretty nasty. I decided it must just be me. I loved MFT's Nub Cameroon extract. So, it had to be me. I made it through the first third and it wasn't getting much better. By the time I hit the halfway point I had to throw it out. I no longer enjoy analog cigars at all.

What I'm about to say next may sound like sacrilege to some. I think our net juices are much closer to the truth of the tobacco than smoking them. I know that somebody's jaw just hit the floor. Think about it though, we are pulling the flavor directly out of the leaf and then heating the concentrated flavor to release the aroma and taste. When you light a cigar you are burning away the flavor with fire. You are completely changing the composition of the leaf in attempts to extract a tiny bit of flavor through smoke. It is really kind of archaic in comparison.

With vaping the tobacco flavor comes through, but so do those nuances we seek out in the tobacco. The spice, nuts, bread, sweetness, they are all there and they aren't fighting through a wall of smoke and super heated air. Now, vaping doesn't replicate the analog experience at all. However, I would say it replicates the true taste much better than smoking. I'll take a Cohiba extracted in PG over the real deal any day, now.

Let's ignore the obvious health benefits of vaping versus smoking. In my opinion, vaping isn't just an alternate method of smoking, it's a superior method. People fear they will have to trade some pleasure and satisfaction if they switch to vaping. I tell them what happened to me; I just did both until I realised I would prefer to vape. I would like to give myself credit by saying I quit smoking, but truth is I gave up nothing and gained plenty.

My guess is vaping will make smoking almost obsolete, though have no idea how long it will take. I still smoke the occasional cig. Rarely. Not because I need to or really want to, just because I can. A remnant of a previous dirty habit.

In other news, dipped into my new Maple Wild Wood today.

I don;t know WHAT to think of this. it is definitely vapeable, maybe even really good. I am not sure I get a maple thing from it, so I get what Jerms meant about more of a "straight" Wild Wood tobacco thing happening here. It almost reads like an exceptional artibacco. To put it another way, if you have tried Backwoods Brew Maple Tobacco (which I did not like very much and will not vape any more), it is like what that juice could have or strived to be. I don;t know.

What it is not is a maple version of CWW in the sense of a rich, creamy, gooey good maple on par with the caramel for CWW. I hoped beyond hope it would be and it simply is not in any way. Not sure yet if that is a good, bad, or neutral thing.

I will spend some time with this one. It has me really perplexed as to if I like it and, if so, how much. Not knocking me out on first vape.

Decided to taste my 1 week old Caramel House Blend. Starts out with a strong caramel; glad to report it is Wlad's caramel (why would it not be?). The tobacco is much milder of course than the smokey Wild Woods, but it is a very pleasant vape. Great for those who prefer less tobacco. Going to let it continue to steep; I find Ahl's tobaccos only get better with a good steep. Although no competition for CWW, CHB is not bad. I do not expect the tobacco to become more pronounced; it is a House Blend. But perhaps the caramel will back down a little. Not even sure I want that!

Hey Bill have you ever shared the picture of your tobacco cabinet on this thread. Bet everyone would wet themselves seeing that.

I got my swap package from clnire in the mail today. One of the four bottles leaked, but not much, so all is well. She's either gotten my grab-bag package to her, or she will soon. Between my own homemade extracts and those of my home extractor friends, I have enough extract to open a B&M store or make juice for an army, neither of which are going to happen. LOL.

The "stretchy tape' is called Parafilm. Great stuff. Like Saran wrap film only rubbery.

Some people tape the caps to the bottles (Boomer does that with some kind of stretchy tape I never knew existed). These days, it's good enough for me if the packages I send arrive at their destinations at all. LOL.

[Request to all my home extract swap friends: Put your name on your bottle labels, please! I can't keep all your extracts straight without a scorecard.]

I went looking through the steep box and realized I am a net fiend. I don't have a single juice that isn't a net. All of the other stuff ended up in my wife's collection.

Viva La Nicotiana Tobaccum!!!

Nothing but NETs here too.. I had a couple bottles of Tribeca that I bought off somebody locally because I just wanted that Tribeca itch scratched. It was good while it lasted. All NETs all the way!!

Wait.. I lie! I do have around 80ml of Bobas left around here somewhere, if I can only find it! It's probably slithering around in the dark somewhere.

It would be ironic if vaping saved the growers and tobacconist from going out of business. But there wouldn't be 40,000,000 US Vapers doing home extracts, at least I don't think so. Maybe if Busardo got his own network show.

Tonight at nine, On " Can I taste your juice " : Phil and Dimitri wind up at the wrong CON. Hilarity ensues.

I was bumping around the interwebz and found this article about the Cornell & Diehl pipe tobacco company. I had no idea that they were organic or that the current owner saved the brand from destruction.
WNC MAGAZINE | ASHEVILLE AND WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA'S LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE

It is weird. When I was a smoker stories like this didn't interest me at all. Now I know more about tobacco and companies than ever did before.

The excesses of my obsessive little hobby get dragged out every so often, and I did share pics of my vaping workstation here recently.

If, however, you mean specifically my big drawer of tobacco extracts, I haven't posted a picture of that yet.

Been having a pretty good run with extracted juices from the DIY LA Cosa NETstra. Vaped 2.5 mls of Dustmite's Devil's Holiday. Nice sweet pepper. like Lane's Black & Burley. What can I say these Dudes and Dudesses have really got the hang of it. I may not like a few but someone else will. Technically all I have received have been extracted like professionals. Sooner or later one of us is going to come up with a Patriot clone and life will be good indeed.

It's late and I've been up searching past my bed time again. I have a question for the extractors and I'm too tired to dig through my CP to find the appropriate threads.

On average, how much PG will be needed to soak a Robusto in the 5x54 range? There are a couple I want to extract, but that is the smallest size available. I'm thinking 120ml might not do the trick.

If the cost of bottles and shipping don't get out of hand, I might be right there with you. My list of six cigars I want to extract "first" has grown to ten. lol I think they might have to engage in a Battle Royal to see who gets to go next.
