Today I'm vaping Bill's Alec Bradley Tempus Cigar extract. Bill has worked his magic again...

boomer,

My "magic" is 5% common sense, 5% brilliant skill, and 90% pure, dumb luck. LOL. When the muse of dumb luck decides not to show up, I'm left with some pretty suspect extracts. I'd say something like, "And I've got the lousy extracts to prove it," but I don't. The bad ones get thrown out, so that all I have left are the 5-5-90 magical ones.

Can always try WaToAx. :p

ATW would work; Alternatives to Tobacco by Walker.

Ygh, that almost sounds like a cologne spray or some kind of business-suit wearing high-class e-juice B&M.

...nevermind... just... stopping that train of thought before it gets out of hand.

This is making me think up new government agency names and acronyms, now.

Trying out MTF's Milan Black Gold again. A little extra steep did it some good. The muddle of flavors is no longer there. At first I got a nice dose of the Maduro cavendish that imparted a cigar like quality over everything. Then the cigar faded and the Burley came through with a bit of black Cavendish. The Virginias are barely there. They seem to be lifting the flavor profile up with a sprinkling of high notes. They aren't readily recognizable as the sweeter VA taste from a VA/Per blend. They just shine some light on the darkness. The chocolate undertones are coming through as being a darker chocolate. They remind me of the dark chocolate on a Clif Builder bars. The coffee comes and goes as a tertiary note.

I give this a thumbs up. After some more steeping this will make a mighty fine night time vape.

Mini PT3 with cotton ball wicks on an Evod battery regulated to 3.7 volts. Resistance around 2.1 - 2.2 ohms.

This is exactly why I don't feel my reviews would do his juice justice.

Mike, you review tobacco like a wine taster reviews wine. Holy moly.

I went ahead and put some of this very juice in my (damaged) KFL wicked with Koh Gen Do cotton (Would you believe, the delrin drip tip I stuck in there actually cracked the MAPP flange at the top? Now, I don't think it's exactly safe, but I used some Gorilla Tape to re-seat the cracked piece at the top) and I'm going to try and forget your review until I finish what I just put in there.

FWIW; try it with any sort of organic Japanese cotton pads. Amazon has got a ....-ton (an actual unit of measurement, surprisingly) of brands that aren't KGD that would likely work equally as well.

I've tried "bunny ball" wicks and they just...well...suck, compared to the exceedingly-fast-wicking Japanese cotton. Plus side: no cotton taste. Unless you're an idiot like I am and decide to try and use the stuff wrapped around a vertical coil , in which case you'll be enjoying the taste of cotton (or not, it does kinda taste cardboardyish).

I actually stuck a 1/16 bit in there and rotated the coil back to standard horizontal, and now it doesn't suck. Surprisingly, the wick isn't flooding every time I take a puff. I finally must have done something right, at least.

I'm still going to try my hand at giving this juice a proper review.

I am waiting on the Plume Veil to show up, but I will need to have a coil ready for it when it arrives or it'll need to wait until the evening for a test fire. Protip: a (clean) toothbrush works great for cleaning off manufacturing dust from the threads of new devices, under hot running water. Obviously you don't want to proceed to brush your teeth with it, unless folks use metal shavings for their toothpaste.

I liked them, but I moved away from 18mg. So, they were of no use to me. I think you'll find them as pleasant occasional vapes at the least.

You're welcome. That is part of why we're here. This is a community of obsess... I mean dedicated folks with a common hobby. We're all just trying to help grow the knowledge base and community. There is a reason several vendors lurk through our neighborhood.

You know, I must be weird or something. I find myself vaping everything from 12-20mg. I guess it just depends on the situation. Less time to vape; higher nic juice. Relaxation time; lower nic juice. Rarely do I get a chance to sit down and vape for more than a few seconds when I'm busy in the daytime.

I suppose you could say this is why I'm looking for a device that can break the 5A barrier; the Vamo only reaches 5A max from what I understand.

A DNA mod is going to hit way higher than that, being that it can output 30W it has to be at least double.

Then again, I found one of these supposed DNA mods with 5600mAh capacity, right? The stupid thing had a built-in Li-Po battery. I'm not charging one of those things and using it in front of my face, of all places to use a Li-Po. It belongs in a Li-Po sack.

And then I go and find other ones that take a single 18650 battery; mixed reviews on others; huge price-tags; horrible reviews on others.

It's just so confusing. I just want something I can fire and forget. A bottom feeder would be nice, but you know.... makes me want to say, "why hasn't anyone just invented a multi-feeder that can eject juice through a tube that can be conveniently placed in any spot on a RBA/RDA"?

With the Plume Veil's multi-airhole design, and even with other RBA/RDAs frankly, there are plenty of places for a small tube to feed juice into a spot where the wicks would just get saturated without any bore-holes needed. Even a screw-on mini-ring that was device-specific to feed from the top-down would be kinda neat.

Would be a pain in the .... to develop that, though... people would be popping the tube off when sticking the device in their pockets, moving it around, re-wicking, reaching for it for a vape in the dark (you know you do this), and so on.

....Wait, what was I talking about, again?

Just a 10 ml bottle dusty. I have some weeds in the garden that I need to root out so u can use vita Bella for that as a backup plan

I think Vinegar would do the trick quite nicely. Don't you go killing any more bees than Bayer now, yahear?

papabogart said:
Aussie's got no EPA?

If they do, they'll notice if Anthony creates a large Superfund site in his backyard garden. You could then probably make an extract from the soil and get well-steeped Vita Bella from the dirt.

Johni said:
Lately, I have been filtering extracts down to 2.5 microns and can attest that it does help clarify the extract and minimize particulates without compromising flavor. Coils will still gunk although it takes longer, primarily due to sugars cased on the tobacco. Sugar molecules are too small to filter without filtering out flavor molecules.

You know, I think this might be what Clay does with his extracts. I don't really know for certain, but I can definitely tell the difference between his liquids and liquids from other vendors.

Also, when you said this, it reminded me of the review Rip did on the Plume Veil RDA- he said that normally, there was flavor over vapor, or vapor over flavor, but with that device- they were both equal. Honestly, I didn't even see that review until after I ordered the clones, but now I'm really excited.

More OT:

I still figure that larger coils that cover more surface area and generate more heat are the most gunk resistant, at least when twisted- I can confirm that. However, I have no idea how lower gauge Kanthal compares. Rip says it's better than plain lower-gauge kanthal (32AWG triple-twisted) due to the additional surface area- I just know that it's three times as durable due to there being three pieces of kanthal twisted together.

They take longer to heat, and longer to cool, though- something to consider.

Gotta run, made it to page 762; huge thunderstorm just hit outside and power outages do happen here via the large number of lightning strikes.

That's all for now.

I am starting to get a tingle of excitement.

I just found out from the USPS tracking system that half a litre of River Bottom Fog Sauce has just left American shores and is heading my way.

Now what to do with half a litre of RBFS? I may have to share this with my Aussie vaping friends.

And I cracked to Goodejuice. I ordered a 30ml bottle of Patriot and Analog and 10ml bottles of Godfather, Vita and a few others.

This will be my first time trying analog and Godfather.

Why did I put in an order with GEJ ? Because I loaded up an aero Protank with 18 month old well reversed steeped Patriot which definitely lacks all the components that were present when it was younger and it *still* is one of my favorite juices in its current dilapidated form. How a bunch of mottled together pipe blends come off tasting like cigary goodness with woodsy room notes defies the laws of NETs.

I remain utterly perplexed by this Maple Wild Wood. I think I enjoy it, but not at all sure if it is a reorder. I will tell you this, I don't "get" it at all. I don;t get maple really at all...not a hearty, earthy maple and not a sweet maple syrup either. I get a very pleasant thing I can best describe as spun sugar with a touch of molasses (?) that I think a great many of you who like lighter tobacco vapes, or slightly sweet but not dessert tobacco vapes might really, really like. It is extremely pleasant and ADV-able, but not sure it is pushing any big buttons for me. I just cant get over the name vs the flavor maybe? It's a real enigma. Anyone else have thoughts on this one?
I feel the same, though it was a reorder for me. I prefer Maple House Blend after a long (6 weeks) aging. Maple Wild Wood is another odd, but enjoyable liquid for me; the first was Winter Wild Wood.

It’s Christmas in August for me. Today I received both of my back orders (May 6 and July 3) from NETcom. Mix date is 7/05/2014. In addition eight samples with mix dates of either 7/05/2014 or 8/01/2014 plus that cute linen juice bag. Based on spend I have 2 x 30 mils of my choice banked. For anyone who has any doubts about Clay’s honesty and integrity, he combined both orders into one box and added a handwritten note that I have a shipping credit for my next order. Not only that he credited the larger shipping amount I paid and he really should have done the opposite. I requested air cured burley or another NET with Uncle BJ's Blackberry Burley (apologies BJ) instead of the fire-cured burley and he fulfilled my request. I don’t know Clay personally (never met him , talked with him or emailed) however for whatever reason I always felt he would come through otherwise I would never have placed my July order (knowing he was already in a backlog position) while I was still waiting for my May order. I never lost faith in him nor did I ever diss him for being late. For me NETcom is my top vendor of choice for NETs.

Ahhhh.....Well played Sir. A plan I aspire to emulate. My circular file is full to the brim.

I want to try extracting A Corona Cigar Company Dominican 10th Anniversary Tres Cappas. However, after the utter destruction I visited upon the wrapper and binder of my Room 101 San Andres, I'm hesitant. I'm not sure if I have the skill to tackle it yet.

Corona Dominican 10th Anniversary Double Phatty Tres Capas Single Cigar - Corona Cigar Company
With a combination of Golden-brown Connecticut-shade, Sun-ripened Maduro and Jade-green Candela wrappers, the Corona Dominican 10th Anniversary Double Phatty Tres Capas Cigar is a ménage à trois of flavor! Besides being an absolutely beautiful cigar, these babies taste great. The mild blend of aged Dominican long-filler tobaccos and Nicaraguan binder compliment the colorful medley of wrappers.

Yessir! Several contain black cavendish, which I've been iffy on in the past, but I'm still pretty excited.

Admiral's Pipe; burley, virginia, and cav with notes of chocolate and vanilla. One of Brian's favs, and one I've been looking forward to since I've heard of it.

Caven Fever; straight up black cav.. we'll see.

Count Caramel. Seen some good reports here on this, so I have a good feeling of this caramel pipe even though it has black cav.

KillrY4. Ahh hell yeah!

Petner's Pipe; burley and virginia with raisin and rum. This will be a new flavor experience for me. Should be pretty unique; I have high hopes here.

Dark Honey Berry. For his first fruit-bacco, Brian went unique. From the site; " Green River Black Cavendish, which has a mild brown-sugar flavor, blended with smooth honey to up the sweetness. The sweetness is reined in some by a tart berry essence." Black cav.. honey.. we'll see. It'll be interesting!

Latakia. I love Latakia blends, but straight up? Hmmmmmmm.

Mike, gunking is why I do synthetics at work, doing Vapor Knoll Dark & Mellow right now, not too bad but I look forward to getting home and NETting. My NET vapes are either bottom-fed on a REO or dripped using rebuildables, quick dry burns and rewicking when necessary. I tried a VR, not my cup of NET(?), wound up giving them all to a co-worker instead of dumping them.

Hey Mike, you know you got some of that Cigar coming when it's done. I'm looking forward to those ACIDs, C-I is still my favorite Home-Brew Cigar vape, Cameroon is a close second. I chose Kuba Kuba over the Blondie because I've had two Blondie's, W2V & NET.COM, RFBS is still waiting in the refrigerator patiently, and one Kuba Kuba juice.

lavender1742, I might suggest getting a 5ml Bubblegum, not really any flavor to speak of, but it may lessen the dryness, cotton candy is similar, no real flavor but it subtlety alters a juice. Take some of your juice and put it in a 5ml bottle , start with ~2 drops per 5ml, shake, steep for ~20minutes and vape. If it doesn't change much add one additional drop at a time.

Oh, I was confused there for a second. I am still waiting ot try KY4, Petner's and, wait, Dark Honey Berry? Stop the noise! That looks kinda tasty. The Latakia is funny in how much it reminds me of some other blends with Latakia, but there is no other tobacco in this one. That says something about Latakia!

Which one first, J? I can't wait to see what you think of the Count.

I've received so many great new NETs lately.. RBFS, GJ4 and Organic, three Ahl aros and a couple non-aros, Nomad from EV. I also have well aged Patriot, Vita, Sahara, original Fog Sauces, great home brews from Dust, John, and Bill, and a couple handfuls of newer and older NETs I need to get to know better. I'm sitting very pretty with my current collection.

Good news is.. I get to by more because I only have a couple arties, a couple teas, and a couple desserts, and zero coffees, so I get to stock up on all that stuff!

Ether Vapes just released 2 new coffee extraction liquids that might interest you. Or just try the Capparillo from NLV -- that one is delicious.

You'll love Admirals. One of my personal favorites at the moment. The sweetness of the viriginias and cavs really come through and the burley rounds it out quite well. Only problem like all other RBFS NETs it doesn't play well with tanks.
