Our pets are about as close as any of us are likely to get to unconditional love. The problem, of course, is that they don't live as long as we do, so hello-goodbye is built in. Judging from my own experience, nothing except the passage of time will assuage the heartache of saying goodbye to a beloved animal companion.

Well, I've been thinking and come to a decision. I'm going to buy the bottles to store five extractions and make five final mixes. That should stop me from going over board and ending up in a Bill situation. I don't want to get to the point that I run out of space or end up with extract that is too old and going flat. Assuming I only keep 30ml from each batch, I'll still get about 890ml of juice from five extractions. I think that should hold me for at least a year.

Right now I've got 15ml of Boomer's Orlik extract and about 83ml of juice. I have two pipe blends soaking. That should yield 50 - 70ml each. Plus I have a cigar sitting that should yield about 70ml. I figure two more 70ml cigars and I should be set. The issue is bottles. It is going to cost me another $20 for the bottles to store and mix with. Then there is the issues of small bottles for shipping out extracts to La Costa Netstra and shipping.

Then you have to figure in base. I buy mine from MVJ already mixed. I don't want raw nicotine (in higher levels) around because I have a small kid and animals. So, the MVJ route seems somewhat safer and more convenient. Plus, I have to pay Dianne back for all of her generosity. Making and mixing is cheaper, the accessories are what get ya. Time to massage the budget and keep my eyes open for some overtime.

Yes, that's the downside of a hobby about which I am both compulsive and prodigious. If I lived someplace where people could come over to my house and fill up their own bottles with my extracts, that'd be great, but I live in a tiny town at the extreme western edge of the continent, so no one drops in unexpectedly.

I wonder, what is the life-span of natural tobacco extracts? I doubt that a hard-and-fast rule exists for that, and longevity probably varies considerably from one extract to another, based on many variables---the tobacco blends used, age of the tobaccos when extracted, extraction method, solvents used, care in storage, etc. I've been at this home-extraction thing for 18 months now, but only three of my 43 extracts are more than a year old. The rest are about evenly distributed in age from 11 months down to one month old.

So far, all my extracts are still good (meaning vibrant and "alive"). In the three oldest, the tobacco has deepened and emerged more strongly, with a corresponding but only slight diminishing of non-tobacco casings and toppings. None tastes flat to me, but common sense suggests that a flattening of flavor will be inevitable eventually. I figure I have another year probably before the euthanasia squad shows up to put down any extracts that have succumbed to Alzheimer's. But that's just a guess. I'd wager that some natural tobacco extracts will soldier on quite nicely for a long time---two, three, or even more years---while others will shuffle off this mortal coil somewhat sooner. Just like people. LOL.

Well, I will be home again from the business trip with my old dog. I am on an emotional roller coaster - I don't think he will last the week. Very hard time for me. So since I will be home might as well get more tobacco and do another extracting session. Keep my mind off my emotions. Now what to get.....

Sorry for a bummer post. :(

Having been through it myself a few times, I know the pain. I currently have a huge, white German Shepherd who is keenly aware of my emotions and extremely devoted. I hate to admit it, but he's my best friend. Cherish the moment.

(((hugs)))

Just received email notification that my bottle of Count Caramel will be in the mail tomorrow. Also, not feeling very creative right now I ordered some Louisiana Red because of reviews here, some H&H Burley Kake to play with and some Missouri Meerschamm Great Dane Burley because although I know johni mentioned he has some to extract it was on my list to try. I have been somewhat disappointed with the "flavored" aromatics I have extracted, one more to try. And although Spock is a Belgian Tervuren, this one is a dog LOL! Gotta keep the spirits up.

Oh nooo!!!! Oh well, $4/10ml is still a good deal, but thanks Jerms. :)

It is, thanks for posting it!

I picked up just a couple NETs, ouR whY Qu4tro and Analog Reds. Also, Enigma (?), Klone Wars, and Graham Central. Nice shipping price at $2.56. 50ml for $19.56, not too shabby. Maybe I'll try to find out what Enigma is suppose to be now lol.

... wrapped in a mystery.

Doing a search, it looks like it's a vanilla, chocolate, caramel type concoction. Works for me!

Klone Wars description is " Strawberry? Cheesecake? Custard? Bliss....." and Graham Central's is "A near indescribable flavor! Graham crackers? Cinnamon? Butter? Who cares.... Tasty!" Lol. Those types of vague descriptions used to bother me, but not any more when it comes to dessert vapes or TINOs.

How do you like the Dunhill Early Morning Pipe Tobacco and the Borkum Riff Black Cavendish Pipe Tobacco? I just order both from Diane.

I spent all evening with the Borkum Riff Black Cavendish running at 12W, then 13W and then 14W in the KFL. It's a very mild flavour..

You know the tobaccos are there, but it's like they don't want to come out and play.

I'll test it with a bit more heat on the drippers when I get a chance.

Going from a straight fruit vape to Sweet Georgia Peach from Ahl has allowed the tobacco-y-ness of SGP to really show how it plays with the peach. I always love dipping into SGP, but sometimes like now it just really impresses. Had some great sessions with KillRY4 and Pirate's from RBFS after Count Caramel. Tasty vaping weekend.

THATS what I forgot when I ordered my Count Caramel this morning! KillRY4! Oh well, another time. Maybe they will run a Labor Day or even (I know it is not for awhile thank goodness) Black Friday sale. Like I don't have enough juice..

Black Friday (and Cyber Monday) is THE time to stock up on vapes. Crazy deals galore.

PS Quick Nic is blowing out old 10ml bottles for $4.00 so I will be trying OurYQuattro (sp?) Too.

That is a good deal. Thanks for sharing. I bit and made a small order to restock some of my recent favorites (Analog Red, among others).

So sorry to hear about your pooch. With your love and support, he just might surprise you and pull through. All you can do is cherish every single moment you have with him. Whatever happens, he will always be with you, and you will see him again (hopefully in the way distant future, for your sake). For some reason, there is no deeper pain and grief than losing your four-legged best friend. Probably because they are so intimately connected to us and so pure of heart, something we should all learn from and at least try to emulate.

Best wishes for both of you.

I believe it was already mentioned, but Real Extracts, LLC is having a 50% off juice sale (coupon code "ECFSPECIAL50"). They are also still offering the deal where you get 10ml of the other tobaccos when you purchase a 30ml CowBoy. This brings them down $0.25/ml, which is an amazing price for the quality of the juice. I don't know how much cheaper they could or will get, but I'd strongly recommend jumping on these deals if you've been waiting to try them. I've been completely hooked on CowBoy, and it's one of, if not THE, best analog cig replacement I've ever had. Their Turkish is fantastic too.

They're also now offering DIY pure tobacco concentrates. They're not part of the 50% off sale, but $0.50/ml for 120mls of pure extract is a great price and could go pretty far. I'm getting the Turkish Izmir to make their Turkish blend more Turkisher and to try it out mixed on its own.

Call me a fanboy, but I can't put CowBoy down. This stuff is liquid gold. Now, no more ordering for me until Black Friday/Cyber Monday (hopefully).
