I received Gollum today from HHV. I'm going to let it steep for a bit (as HHV tobaccos get better with age) but I had to try it right away. It's absolutely amazing!!!!

That's the second Gollum review I've heard tonight. Bronze was similarly impressed. I'll have some Friday.

I agree. I sampled mine this morning and was pleasantly surprised how well it vaped right out of the mailbox after being born only 48 hours prior. I wrote an "Initial Impressions" review on another thread.

Bumpety bump :D

TBinAZ;7278799]I really don't feel like scouring back 1500 posts, but I ran into something interesting just now. Was anyone aware of the fact that Dekang tobaccos are extracted? I don't recall hearing that.
[/QUOTE]

Yeah, I surprised to hear that! I wonder what's going on there?! I've been toying with the idea of dropping some in the ol' shopping cart on one of my next GeJ orders, for old time's sake, so maybe I'll give it a shot and report back.

EDIT: Actually I notice looking at the Dekang liquid on the GeJ site it says: "Naturally extracted from best-quality tobacco leaves. Not chemically mixed" on all of the flavors that I spot-checked, not just tobacco flavors. Maybe they're just referring to the nicotine??

Any one that has ever thought privately that they could almost drink a well aged Gandalf, can possibly rejoice, as I can attest to the fact that it tastes just like a quadruple espresso/ mocha/ pipe tobacco that we might buy at Starbucks in the near future.(My Stardust tip was not screwed down properly) I haven't enjoyed such a numb tongue since my c@#$%^&@ days long ago. :p :)

From what I researched before finding actual extracted tobaccos, Dekang and other Chinese companies were extracting the nicotine from tobacco leaves. I don't think they were extracting flavor as well. I remember one of the first American companies to put out the quality (both in flavor and production safety) of Dekang was Halo and they don't extract either.

The smell of a fresh pack of cigarettes sounds very appealing to me. Perhaps I should try some of the juices you mention. Are there any others you would lump into the same category?

Yo Mann, could you help me with this? What about the VS Tampa and others, do you get that smell?

Uhh, not really. It's very difficult to compare the two because VS Tampa is a lab juice, where GeJ is literally using the same ingredients, e.g tobacco, that would give off the fragrance of a fresh pack of cigs. I don't remember Tampa having much of a smell. I think I may still have some here...let me check.

Can you name me other juices you have tried that give off the fragrance of a fresh pack of cigs?

I remember I used to get that fragrance in Square 82 disposables, but haven't found a juice like that yet.

Probably GeJ's Wild Turkey, Acadian Gold, Wrangler Light, and to a lesser degree, Natural Perique. I can't really say I have had that distict experience with too many other NETs or juices in general.

I assure you "tobacco" is in there somewhere! (Even if maybe just the description.)

Man, I used to be a Boba's fanboy. Then one day it made me sick. I bought a lower nicotine, thinking that had to be it. It wasn't. After getting the 6mg I was still feeling bad. After about a year I ordered again to see how I'd do. I loved that flavor and couldn't wait to bust it out again! It made me sick again........

This just in...

First of all, Wrangler Light is all gone. The additional cocoa flavor is what can't be sourced anymore as the original recipe changed. I was only able to get the 30 mL at 32 mg. However, Nick told me about his new approach to the flavor and that it should very well please me as much if not more. We shall see.

Secondly, as much as I hate to say it, there was something off with my last GeJ order. Now when I say off, I don't mean bad per se, but off nonetheless. My Natural Perique was barely there in terms of flavor and aroma. Nick called me today and I expressed my concerns about the flavor. He confirmed that there was something different, but it was simply due to the nature of natural products. As the seasons change, certain strains of my beloved leaves become out of season. With the out-of-season leaves, many that are able to be accessed are sub-par in terms of depth of flavor. Nick assured me that I could up the extract, but I am going to hold off and wait for his next offerings slated for a month from now (give or take). One of the juices is going to incorporate a seriously bold tobacco that is sure to please the gruffier among us.

So, we have to remember, when dealing with natural products, consistency is not the same as dealing with off the shelf flavors. I am not sure why some leaves are in or out of season, nor what strains flourish best in which season. But I promise you I will continue investigating.
I would like to thank Nick for confirming my suspicions and being honorable enough to tell me the truth as opposed to saying "maybe it's your atty!"

Actually that is a HUGE point to remember. Just like the vintage of a wine or port, it very much depends on the harvest any given year. On a different down home level, some days you can eat a jalapeno like a bell pepper... other days.....

As to cocoa in general, it does seem that levels of quality production are going down all over the world. I guess as more and more rubbish, chemical and substitute gets loaded into the chocolate bar or the chocolate drink from huge corporate overlords of profit, there's less call and less money paid for the trouble of growing and harvesting a quality crop and that really bothers me. For example I was disgusted when Nestle tried to pull a fast one in the UK and hoped to replace Cadbury's with a failed product they had purchased in the 70's "Milka". Hey, I'm a Brit, my chocolate MATTERS!!!!!! lol
