Funny, I thought I was the only one that got the "leathery" taste from Sludge; Huntsman and Sludge are both my favorite liquids, and I'm 4 miles from the HHV store! Been on those 2 for a year now. Anyway, if I like those, can you recommend me some others from other vendors, something similar but not identical? I'm still looking for the Holy Grail of tobacco flavours. Is the JohnsonCreek stuff any good? Tennessee Cured sounds good, but 100%VG, wouldn't it lack flavour? I've also heard of good things for Patriot by goodejuice.

Also, what's an ideal ratio for tobacco flavours? I seem to get more flavour from 60/40 than 70/30. Sorry for all the questions, but I'm glad johni told me about this thread! Glad to see there are other traditionalists!

If I'm not mistaken, Sludge has raisin notes in it, and I'm trying to think of any raisin tobaccos I have come across while reading the threads here and searching vendor sites. I will see what I can find as far as that.

I have not had many tobaccos yet, though I have about 10 steeping right now (GeJ, W2V, Ahlusion, and VS) and more in the order next list. I do know some tea vapes can mimic tobaccos, though I think (as far as my experience tells me) they are milder and lower-key than many tobaccos. I mention teas because they can be "grassy" and "smokey" as well, like Huntsman. For example, I have an Ahlusion Pomegranate Black Tea with a grassy note, but also a definite pomegranate note. I would say from what I have read the Wild Wood series of Ahlusion tobaccos would be a good place to start for this flavor profile. I'm hoping they offer the plain Wild Wood soon without any fruit infusion. I hear this is a smokey flavor, if you like that component.

I will keep my eyes open for any mention of similarities of other juices to Huntsman or Sludge and post here if I find anything on the threads or vendor sites.

Glad you guys do, cause it makes my head hurt to think about it lol. That's what I get for comparing. It really is best for me to stick to what I'm doing instead of attempting to figure out a way to improve things. I'm still willing to change, but I'll wait for the masses to agree on something and follow suit. For now my juices aren't spoiling and taste pretty damn good to me.

I'm in your camp Jerms. I have so much juice there simply is no room for anymore. I did my tour of duty. I'll let others do all the sampling for awhile. :)

I got a HHV order in today:

Sludge - I really like this one a lot; not sure if anyone will agree or identify with this impression, but it almost tastes leathery - dark, soothing, rich yet mellow, medium creamy. Not sure if I can let this one steep, it's too good to put down.

Huntsman - very nice; a little grassy, a little smokey, slight creaminess - going to let most of it steep a few weeks to see how it develops.

(Nice Pear - not a NET) - got this one since I love pear and it was recommended. It's as good as people said it is. Yum!

Heather's pear flavors are excellent. Try White Lie next (a pear/coconut blend).

Hey Scand. Nice to see you. Johnson Creek is not a NET (Naturally Extracted Tobacco). They were OK for starting out but found other vendor's offerings to be much better. Sludge is a flavor that has no cousins. It's very unique. I would suggest you pick two or three vendors and work their tobacco menus. Go one at a time. You already know about HHV. Try Goodejuice, Quick nic Juice, and Ahlusion if you want to branch out.

PG carries flavor better than VG. So for a good flavor and vapor compromise is 70PG/30VG. That way you get flavor, TH and vapor. If you want less TH try for 60/40 or 65/35 if the vendor offers it. I know Wlad at Ahlusion will do that.

I get raisins from HHV Sludge. Not for me. But most of their other NETs are delicious. Johnson Creek, otoh, isn't that good, imo. You might like it though.

Well you just sold me on Tobacco Haze.

Mann, I mixed the Vecchio you sent me 50/50 with Sweet Georgia Peach. Regretted it at first, but after several days of steeping together it's quite tasty.

M&P Tobacco Haze is damn good. It's a TA (Bulgarian, I believe) liquid, but they apply it with a gentle hand. Also try Tobacco Praze and Bud's Blend.

Also Jerms, I just placed an A+ order. Including Gold Member. I'll let you know what I think. If it's not for me I'll send it your way.

Johni's good people.

Huntsman is one of my favorites too. Pretty unique with it's woodsy, earthy flavor. For something similar I'd suggest checking out other medium, lightly sweet tobaccos. The Wild Woods line from Ahlusion has woodsy notes, but only comes flavored such as vanilla, apple, etc. Smooth Criminal from them is a very popular medium, sweet tobacco, and is also one of my favorites. Our biggest Huntman fan here, Hula, also really digs Smooth Criminal.

GoodeJuice has many great tobaccos. Vita Bella and Patriot I'd suggest to any tobacco vaper, but many of their others are great as well. Southern Gentleman from MountainOakVapers is a fantastic, complex tobacco. QuickNicJuice's Humpback (Turkish) and Fire in the Hole (Fire Cured) I'd also suggest.

Lots of great extracted tobaccos out there, stick around and get ready to sample! I have no recommendation for ideal ratio, as it's a personal preference thing, and depends on the vendor.

You should try Smooth Criminal and Sahara Blend from Ahlusion. I'd be very surprissed if you didn't like them. Both Smooth Criminal and Sahara Blend benefit from a steep, but it's not required. Lots of people in this thread like them fresh.

Also, as Bronze said, GoodeJuice is great. I suggest trying Patriot to start. Most really dig it. It's a super tasty pipe blend. Analog from GeJ is also very good. Just give it a day with the cap off and I'm generally against 'caps off' aging.

If you like Tobacco Haze, you may like The Plume Room's Smooth and Mild (I think they are really similar, but different enough to warrant having both). Tobacco Haze is a Tobacco Absolute liquid and Smooth and Mild is synthetic.

I may give that a try

I've got a bunch of ahlusion tobacco's steeping now and Aromatic Honey tobacco (just ordered today) I'm exited to try

so far only tobacco haze has stayed long term in my daily rotation
Just went through a bunch of HHV and so far really like legend and serendipity best out of the HHV tobaccos I've tried

Save me the RY4 massive thread. Somebody tell the lazy juicy boy the reigning RY4 heavyweights please.

Big Juicy,

You don’t need to slog through the entire Really Big RY4 Roundup thread to get what you want.

All you have to do is find The Big RY4 List, composed of four consecutive posts: The Big List itself, which has all the RY4s with links to vendors and thread reviews; RY4 Category Groups, which group RY4s by flavor and mix traits; RY4 Report Card, which is my grading of all the RY4s on the list, and DIY RY4 Flavorings, which assesses the various all-in-one RY4 flavorings available for DIY.

The Big RY4 List is updated every two months. Below is a link to the four consecutive posts that comprise the most recent update (22 July 2013):

The Big RY4 List

You want the heavyweights? Just look at the A and A- rated RY4s on The RY4 Report Card.

Question for my colleagues and mentors in La Cosa NETstra...

Why the heck is a good RY4 so damn addicting??? I mean, it has a funky taste, a syrupy thing, you know what I mean. We all know it. We vape it and say "hmmm, interesting, good, but I don't know..." then just start reaching for it time and again until we crave it day and night. What IS it about a great RY4 that drives us to this madness?

That is some list. Now I know why I have feared checking it for so long.

Iken just reopened with all his tremendous wares in stock. Shoot, I already ordered or I would have tried his RY4.

I don't get the obsession some have with VS4. I get the uniqueness, but damn if it wasn;t both too sweet and syrupy for me as well as artificial tasting. I sent most of mine to Jerms but kept 10 ml to steep. I will try it again in a few weeks.

Looks like MOV (since there are other juices of their I need to try) and Quicknic will be the next too I get.

I ordered some TFA double ry4 for DIY and it's instantly my favorite synthetic. Kinda like smokeless images (which I like too) but better. Simple to mix too. 12% flavor into desired nice base. That's it.

VR's KY4 is my favorite inbetween tobacco and synthetic.

GJ4 is my favorite NET. I like that one in a big tank like a protank. I keep going back for more and there's always enough in there to satisfy.

It's tobacco, it's vanilla, it's caramel... it's delicious.

I've liked RY4s from the beginning because that's three flavors I love. Vanilla tobacco is just amazing to me, and caramel is a good sweetner. Honey, maple.. I don't know, haven't had as good a luck with those.

The classic RY4s are great in a different way than custom RY4s are great. Especially with NETs (always custom), it's often a good tobacco combined with 2 of my favorite flavors. The classic style of RY4 is so good because of the great harmony and balance of flavors. A good classic RY4 tastes like 1 overall flavor to me, though that one flavor has notes of all three. A good custom NET RY4 tastes like 3 flavors mixed together.

So among the 72 juices I sent you was VS4. I am anxiously awaiting your take on it. I think I also sent you some Backwoods Brew RY4. Looking forward to what you think of each Jeremy

It'll be a bit.. I got in around 50 different juices in a couple week span; and already have a large amount in my current rotation. Of those, for RY4s I got Apollo, VapingXtreme, BWB, Highbrow, VaporStation, RevolutionVapor, and 2 forms of the original Janty 2009-2010 recipe. Vaping the Apollo and VX now; Janty and BWB will be next.

My currant overall favs for RY4 are GJ4 in the custom category and Janty Classic RY4 in the classic category.

Just wondering: did any of you get to try the original Ruyan RY4 when it was around and if so, which current-production juice comes closest to it?

I'm not even sure if I'm an RY4 guy (I've tried a couple or three, thought they were OK but not vapegastic) but considering the now-legendary status of the original formula, I wish I could have sampled it.

Holy crap...GEJ RY4 doesnt even crack your current top 20???

Keep in mind that The RY4 Report Card lists my grades for 138 RY4s. To be in the top 30 on that big a list ain't half bad.

As far as I know, GeJ GJ4 was the third natural-tobacco-based Custom RY4 to appear in the retail marketplace. First was VR4 from VapeRite, and then PV4 from Prime Vaping (although that one may be TA-based). GJ4's distinction was that it was the first RY4 to truly taste like an NET. Since then, of course, MOV Full Virginia Flake and QuickNic ouR-whY qu4tro have provided serious challenges. (I'd include MVJ Rogue RY4, but I'm not as big a fan of that particular juice.)

I don't mean to hijack the thread talking about RY4s, but we are discussing Natural Tobaccos, so it's not off-topic.
