PG/VG ratios never concerned me, but I do hate when simple information isn't disclosed. Really? Are vendors that afraid of DIYers that they can't tell you simple stuff?

Message to eliquid vendors: DIYers DIY regardless of you disclosing or not, so not disclosing just makes you look opaque.

And with all the PG-sensitive vapers out there, I'm sure they would like this information.

I have been talking with Nick at GeJ about his tobaccos and he has ZERO qualms with saying what tobaccos are in VB, Acadian Gold or any of his juices. I love transparency among vendors. It looks so confident when a vendor knows that irrespective of someone knowing what tobaccos or PG/VG ratio they use, no one is going to come close to it--and even if they do, so be it.

I could not vape Tribeca there was a very strange flavor to it.

That strange flavor in Tribeca is called love. What do you have against love? :p :D

Torque, Prime 15, or Freedom was my favorite. Can't for the life of me remember which though.

Personally, doesn't bother me since I'm indifferent to ratios. Still agree it should be stated. When a vendor says propriety I pretend they said 65/35 pg/vg.

My quick take on the unnatural tobacco of Halo's line:

Torque 56: when I first tried it (my first real, non-gas station cart, juice in a tank), I got a sweet apple-like flavor. A month later, I began getting a grassier, almost celery seed like flavor.

Turkish Tobacco: somewhat perfumey, camel-Turkish flavor with a cardamom kick at the end, albeit soothing and not a unfiltered vape.

Prime 15: nutty wafer, a bit salty.

Freedom Juice: similar to Turkish, the perfume (or as Phil B says, Barbershop) replaced by a peppery spice. I call it jazzy.

MrM,

Early on in the RY4 thread, some posters wanted to know if certain vendors were using the same Chinese source for their RY4s, since three of the more well-known vendors (none of them artisan juicemakers) had RY4s that tasted remarkably (if not suspiciously) similar.

I emailed one of them (I won't mention what vendor) and explained who I was and that posters on the RY4 thread wanted me to ask whether their RY4 was made in-house or outsourced, and, if outsourced, whether it was Chinese or American. Well, to make a long story short, I ended up talking to the owner on the phone, and he went ballistic on me. Complete ranting paranoia. He accused me of wanting to harm his business by "stealing" information and started calling me names, threatening lawsuits and banishment from ECF if I ever told anyone what he'd said. He seemed to feel that DIY was a massive conspiracy to siphon dollars from his wallet. I was truly shocked at how looney-tunes this guy was.

So, yes, some vendors are that afraid of DIYers. At least one. Needless to say, his RY4 never got reviewed and is not on The Big RY4 List.

I'm not sensitive to either one, so I don't care either, but it insults my intelligence. :)

OMG! The nerve! I bet when he was a kid he wore t-shirts in the pool trying to hide his proprietary physique.

Quick Nick Juice has Turkish? Where is it on the site, because I do not see it.

Anyway, I have never tried QNJ. Worth trying? Which two flavors would you recommend?

QnJ sent me some juices to sample that are unreleased, so I am sorry I put it out there like it is available. (see below). I would say that QnJ is worth checking out for sure--after all, if you have primarily had synthetics, you've pretty much got to try as many NETs as possible to see what works best.

As to what to try, get their sample pack and pick what looks good to you.

Okay, so I just got off the phone with Rich and he said it is okay to request the new liquids. The new liquids are, Cherry Tobacco, Vanilla Tobacco, Fire-Cured and Turkish v1. The Turkish is likely going to get a make-over, but the current version is straight-up. The Fire-Cured is an unrelenting, robust, in-your-face tobacco that is right up there with the gruffiest NETs I've tried but without a ton of complexity.

Rich said he would get working on the site to show the availability of the new liquids, but even if you don't see them, you can order them. I imagine you could just order a dummy liquid and in the notes request one of the new ones in place of the dummy.

edit**Rich is also working on a couple new cigars, but I can't really remember exactly which--I am less interested in cigar eliquid than pipe blends.

Since I'm a dummy, that should be no problem. :D

Glad he isolated that Fire-Cured. Is it really Fire-Cured or Flue-Cured?

Any impressions of the Vanilla and/or Cherry? What are their tobacco bases?

Honestly, I haven't even tried the Cherry or Vanilla and I think they are flue-cured bases (I don't really remember). The Fire-Cured is TOTALLY fire-cured!

Well, I never minded showing my ignorance. This is what I just found.

In fire curing, smoke from a low-burning fire on the barn floor permeates the leaves. This gives the leaves a distinctive smokey aroma and flavour. Fire curing takes three to ten weeks and produces a tobacco low in sugar and high in nicotine. Pipe tobacco, chewing tobacco, and snuff are fire cured.

Flue-cured tobacco is kept in an enclosed heated area, but it is not directly exposed to smoke. This method produces cigarette tobacco that is high in sugar and has medium to high levels of nicotine. It is the fastest method of curing, requiring about a week. Virginia tobacco that has been flue cured is also called bright tobacco, because flue curing turns its leaves gold, orange, or yellow.

Very similar, but the difference is the smoke.
