One thing to keep in mind is that unlike other senses, smell is processed in the same center as emotion so it has the ability to bypass the rational mind. In a hypnotic sense, it achieves instantaneous "critical factor bypass." A woman could find something a turn-on/turn-off and not even be consciously aware of the associated smell having that effect. Same for a man.

This I think is the standard female hypergamous impulse (we want the BEST man) filtered through a social value system that says wealthiest=best, even if that wealth was obtained by kidnapping children and reselling their organs. To a degree, even we women are creatures of self-made soul and I hope we can counteract the social filter that uncritically says that best=wealthiest.
I think my husband is the best, of course. But in his case that's because he's the smartest. He must be the smartest ... he picked ME ... right? LOL
